4 Activities For Creating the Perfect Winter Family Vacation

Creating the perfect winter family vacation can be a daunting task, especially when you consider all of the different choices you have available to you. Plus, if your family vacation is limited due to the number of days your kids can be away from school, then this overwhelmingness can increase. However, here are some of the best activities you could do with the whole family to ensure it’s a winter success!

Visit the Mountains

There is something so dreamy about getting to see mountains kissed with snow. In the US, you can count on several states giving you this, such as Colorado, which has the San Juan Mountains and just the Rocky Mountains entirely. There are so many popular mountain towns with many winter and summer activities. These towns are famous for their ski resorts, lakes, and hiking trails. These little towns will usually have several large-scale snow-tubing hills. Towns like Breckinridge and Telluride are both great examples of how you can make the most out of your kids winter vacation.

Run for the Hills

While maybe not as iconic as the Rocky Mountains, the Appalachian Mountains (mostly considered hills) can also help out in creating an incredible winter holiday for the entire family- regardless of age! One of the most sought-after destinations in the Appalachia region would be Gatlinburg. Visiting Gatlinburg in the winter can be a lot of fun.

Located at the foot of the Great Smoky Mountains, you can enjoy various outdoor activities. You will find skiing, snow tubing, and more in this mountain town. If you plan to go skiing, be sure to pack the right equipment. You will want to bring warm layers, the Moncler Jacket, gloves, and a good pair of boots. Having these items will help you stay comfortable in the Smoky Mountains.

Winter and Holiday-Themed Train Rides

Trains are slowly becoming a main staple in the United States again. Families are especially going crazy for winter trains in the mountains, even small, organized Christmas and holiday themed train rides. Regardless of where you’re going, there is a high chance of finding one of these train rides. They serve hot chocolate for kids, snacks, and coffee for adults, and sometimes Santa makes his debut during December.

Old Fashion Skiing

Whether you are looking for a winter family vacation or a way to get into shape, cross-country skiing is a fantastic activity. It is a low-impact workout that will train all major body parts. It is also easy to learn. While ski resorts can be a bit pricey, if you want to go for just one day with the family, then this could definitely work out. Alternatively, if it’s not your cup of tea, then why not try some sledding? Whether you’re going to a resort, ski area, or even a national park, other activities can usually be done in the snow. In general, you can count on the whole family having fun in the snow.
