6 Features To Look For When Buying An Electric Scooter

Whether you are looking for a new scooter for your own personal use, or as the perfect gift idea to purchase for someone else, it is important that you take the time to consider all of your options. A good place to start is by thinking about what features matter most in an electric scooter and then narrowing down your choices based on those criteria.

This blog post will provide tips on how to gauge which features are important and why they might be worth considering when making a purchasing decision.

Tires

One important feature to look for when you go out and buy an electric scooter is the type of tires it has. The style of the tire can make a huge difference in how smooth your ride with the electric scooter will be.

For example, slick (or racing) tires offer great acceleration, excellent handling and are ideal around corners; however, these types of wheels should not be used if riding off-road because they don’t perform as well on rougher surfaces. Instead, the fat tire electric scooter is a popular choice for those looking to ride on varied terrain. The larger tires are perfect when you’re going up hills or riding on uneven ground, while the smaller ones are better for road riding or smoothing out bumps.

Battery Life

One important feature to look out for is the battery life. If you plan on driving your electric scooter long distances, then it’s a good idea to invest in one with an extended range.

On average, most of these types of vehicles will last between 30 minutes and two hours at top speeds before needing a recharge. Some models can be purchased that have much longer ranges than others but will also cost more money. If you plan on going short distances, then this isn’t as much of a concern.

Weight Capacity

The weight capacity is important because it can determine the maximum load that your scooter can carry. The two most common ways to measure this are Kg and Lbs, with up to 220lbs being a typical limit for adults.

There are three main types of weight capacity: low (150 pounds), medium (220 pounds), and high-capacity (300 pounds). Low-capacity models are preferable because of the people who will typically use them weigh less than 220 pounds. A person under 150 pounds won’t need anything over low-capacity anyway, since they’re lighter in general. High-capacity models should only be considered if a rider weighs 300+ lbs., has had back surgery, or suffers from some other weight-related issue.

Speed

If you are looking for a speedier scooter, it might be more expensive or difficult to find one with higher speeds. This is because all the manufacturers have different standards of safety and what they’re willing to put into their vehicles so keep that in mind when shopping around.

Ultimately though, if you want something faster then this will either need to come at an increased price point or it won’t be as easy to find.

Safety Features

Safety features are of utmost importance when you’re considering an electric scooter. The level of safety can vary depending on the type and price range, but there are some things to look out for regardless. Some common safety features include:

  • First is a strong metal chassis that offers protection from bumps and potential falls or crashes
  • Next is a reinforced steel deck with a non-slip surface-perfect for wet weather riding
  • Third would be brakes that work well as soon as you step down on them without any delay time

It’s always important to consider safety features for any vehicle, but it is especially important with an electric scooter. It can be difficult if not impossible to stop quickly or slow down on a traditional two-wheeled bike. The lack of brakes and speed control makes these vehicles more dangerous than others, so make sure you take this into consideration before buying one!

Warranty

A warranty is a guarantee that your product will be replaced or repaired should it stop working. This can include items like electric scooters, clothes, and even food. You want to purchase an item with a good warranty so in the event of any problems you’re covered.

Warranty details are generally found near the bottom of the page when looking at whether or not something has been added to its description. It will detail how long this feature lasts, what type of damages it covers (things like mechanical defects, electrical failures, etc), and what it doesn’t cover.

The warranty will often say something like “12-month warranty” which means that if the product malfunctions within 12 months of purchase, you’ll be able to exchange for a new one or have the original replaced with no added cost.

When looking for an electric scooter, make sure to consider the following features: Tyres, battery life, weight capacity, speed, and safety. Warranty is also important in your decision-making process because it will protect you from any manufacturer defect that causes malfunctions or stops working within a certain period of time.
