Posted by on Apr 11, 2018 in Ballet, Entertainment | 0 comments

We attended as a guest of the venue Cinderella is a classic fairy tale, and it also happens to be one of my favorite fairy tales ever. I have seen Cinderella in many different forms of production including musical theater, ballet, hip-hop, movies, etc. But, I think ballet is one of my favorite forms to watch this story told is through ballet. I have seen many ballets of Cinderella before, and they were all amazing, but seeing it performed by the Maple Conservatory of Dance at the Irvine Barclay Theatre & Cheng Hall has one has to be one of my favorites. I already knew I was going to like it when I started reading the program and saw a few familiar names. As soon as the first act started, I was immersed in an entirely different version of...

Chef Geeta Bansal of Clay Oven in Irvine was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011. Devastated, she began doing her research and elected to start a trial for a new type of treatment that delivered a single powerful dose of radiation in one session, followed by a surgery and other therapies. The severe side effects of those treatments began to take their toll. So she turned to Ayurvedic cooking to counteract them. The anti-carcinogenic properties of turmeric was first on her list. Also, by taking Fenugreek, she was able to keep her hair from falling out. She used cumin & coriander when making soups to help her quickly regain her energy. To offset nausea, ginger & lemon were top on her list and she incorporated proteins like tofu and lentils to counteract anemia, low blood pressure & loss...

Five Questions to Ask Your Doctor Before Having Liposuction

Posted by on Sep 25, 2018 in Beauty, CosmetiCare, Family | 0 comments

I am a CosmetiCare Ambassador The doctors at CosmetiCare had recommended that I have liposuction when having my mastopexy (breast lift) done. I thought that after having my breasts done that I would lose the weight on my own, but unfortunately, I did not, and I made the decision to have liposuction done at the end of last year. Like most women, I had some hesitation about having liposuction done, and so I had multiple consultations with the doctors at CosmetiCare where I asked every possible question I could think of, making me feel 100% comfortable with proceeding with having the surgery done. These are five of the most important questions that I would recommend asking the doctors at CosmetiCare before having liposuction done. 1. How long is the recovery time? It is an important question because you’ll want...

Creating the ‘Netizens’ in Ralph Breaks the Internet

Posted by on Sep 25, 2018 in Disney, Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

I attended the interview as a guest of Disney One of my favorite things about Ralph Breaks the Internet are the way the people look in the film. Last month, I had the honor of talking with the character building team Cory Loftis (production designer), Dave Komorowski (head of characters and technical animation), Renato dos Anjos (head of animation) and Moe El-Ali (crowds supervisor) about the process of creating the inhabitants of the internet: “Netizens” and “Net Users. They knew early on from looking at the artwork the team was working on which showed the way the environment would look – that they were looking at a 3-dimensional space which posed a few challenges for the team. Not only do they have to populate one street but also the other streets that you can see either up above or...

Sponsored I don’t know about you, but game nights are my favorite kind of nights, especially when game nights are based on one of the best movies. Solo: A Star Wars Story. The film was one of my families favorite Star Wars movies. After hearing that the movie was coming to DVD and BluRay, my brothers and I decided to have a game night, but make it Solo themed. When we were done with playing the game, we would go inside and watch the movie. We first started setting up by taking the Han Solo Monopoly game board and set it up outside on a blanket. We then threw some comfy Chewbacca blankets and pillows to make the space even more comfortable. We then waited for the sun to set and began our family game night. My little brother...

I attended an event as a guest of Chevrolet I have a love for adventure. One of the best ways to have an ultimate adventure in the world is by towing trailers, boats, ATV’s and more. The only downside to towing is that it can be intimating for many, especially moms. Towing has been something that I have wanted to try for many years, and I recently got my first opportunity to tow an ATV on the back of the Chevrolet Silverado. Never in a million years did I think that it would be something that I could do without any help, but the towing navigation system in the Chevrolet Silverado made it so easy that I was able to hook up a trailer to the back of the truck in less than 10 minutes, and all by myself....

The Importance of Having a Healthy Diet After Liposuction

Posted by on Sep 24, 2018 in Beauty, CosmetiCare, Family | 0 comments

Sponsored One of the most important things that the doctors at CosmetiCare talked with me about was eating a healthy diet after liposuction. During the surgery, they remove the fat cells from the areas in which you are having the liposuction done, so if you gain weight after the surgery, the fat will go to other areas where you might not want it – like your breasts, face, back or legs. I had liposuction in my stomach and thighs, and I was terrified of the fact that I could get bigger in areas like my face, arms or back, so I ate a very healthy diet following my surgery. One thing that I wished that I had done was started eating healthier before the surgery and lost some weight before surgery, so I recommend to everyone considering liposuction to...

Creating the Internet World in Ralph Breaks the Internet

The big difference between this film vs. the first is that most of the film takes place “in” the internet. Falling in Love with Music

Posted by on Sep 4, 2018 in Entertainment, Music | 1 comment

Samples provided Going back to school means getting a bunch of cool new things like clothes, school supplies, maybe even a new instrument to play. If you love making music or just having fun, I have to tell you to get a Fender Ukulele. Ukulele is one of the most fun instruments to play in my opinion and what better time to learn then the beginning of a new school year. But you can’t buy just any ukulele. Many of the online companies that you purchase instruments from make it really hard to know what actually holding and playing the instrument is like. Fender ukuleles make it extremely easy to pick your favorite ukulele and even watch a demo video with the ukulele on their website. And you don’t have to stop at ukulele’s; Fender also sells acoustic guitars,...

Caprese Chicken Sheet Pan Recipe

Posted by on Sep 4, 2018 in Family, Recipes, Sheet Pan Recipes | 0 comments

Whenever my daughter and I see Caprese salad on a menu, we cannot resist ordering it. There is something amazingly delicious about the flavor combinations of tomatoes and cheese, mixed with some balsamic & fresh basil ~ oh my! Instead of doing the traditional burgers and hot dogs over Labor Day weekend; I decided to surprise my daughter by making Caprese chicken. And, since it was a holiday weekend, I kept it simple by doing it on a sheet pan – the prep time was less than five minutes! Caprese Chicken Sheet Pan Recipe Ingredients: 2 Cups of Melissa’s Produce cherry tomatoes 2 Cloves of Melissa’s Produce garlic (minced) 2 Tbl. Olive oil 5 Fresh Chicken thighs Fresh Mozzarella slices (Trader Joe’s has it pre-sliced) Balsamic vinegar Salt Pepper Basil Directions: 1. In a bowl. Mix the cherry...

True Story Behind Adrift

Posted by on Sep 4, 2018 in Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

Advanced copy received I don’t know about you, but movies based on life-changing true stories are my favorite kind. Adrift is the story of Tami Oldham and Richard Sharp as they sail into the worlds most catastrophic hurricane. All the way through the movie I couldn’t stop watching as it switched back and forth between scenes that took place before they set sail and afterward. The film showed how they fell in love and how they got unlucky. Tami Oldham is played by one of my favorite actresses, Shailene Woodley, and Richard Sharp is played by the very talented Sam Clafin. Both of these actors played the parts they were given spot on. Especially with the scenes during the actual hurricane. I watched as they tumbled about the ship and got spit out the other end of the hurricane....

Summer Tomato Salad Recipe

Posted by on Aug 29, 2018 in Recipes | 0 comments

Samples provided Our backyard tomato plants have been working hard all summer to provide our family with an abundance of fresh tomatoes. But, as the summer nights are slowly coming to an end, I have found myself sifting through the leaves of our tomato plants to find the last tomatoes that our plants will provide this year. That is why I love Melissa’s Produce so much because they seem to find those hidden tomatoes when we can’t find them in our backyard, and yet they taste just as good as the ones we grow ourselves. After a quick visit at Melissa’s this month, they sent me home with some of their heirloom cherry tomatoes, and I made this quick (and simple) summer tomato salad recipe. What I love about this recipe is that you can cook it and have...

Dinner with a View at The Sun Room

Posted by on Aug 28, 2018 in Dining, Oregon, Travel | 0 comments

We dined as a guest of the venue After a busy day exploring the Oregon coastline, we freshened up in our room before having dinner at The Sun Room Cafe at the Salishan Resort. One of my favorite things about the restaurant is the beautiful panoramic views of the golf course. We were seated at a booth overlooking the golf course and got ready to embark on an epicurean adventure. There were so many delicious choices on the menu, and it was the parmesan truffle fries with garlic aioli and portland ketchup that caught the eye of my son. Truffle fries are one of his all-time favorite dishes, and he thought that the fries at The Sun Room Cafe were some of the best he has ever had. While my son was enjoying the parmesan truffle fries, my daughter...

Running throughout the day Sept. 1 through Labor Day, Sept. 3, the captivating aerial demonstrations will be among the many attractions at the multi-day, free public celebration honoring the U.S. Sea Services. This will be the first time that LA Fleet Week will feature the F-18, a twin-engine, supersonic combat jet, designed as both a fighter and attack aircraft and its specialized version, the EA-18G Growler.
