We attended as a guest of the venue Cinderella is a classic fairy tale, and it also happens to be one of my favorite fairy tales ever. I have seen Cinderella in many different forms of production including musical theater, ballet, hip-hop, movies, etc. But, I think ballet is one of my favorite forms to watch this story told is through ballet. I have seen many ballets of Cinderella before, and they were all amazing, but seeing it performed by the Maple Conservatory of Dance at the Irvine Barclay Theatre & Cheng Hall has one has to be one of my favorites. I already knew I was going to like it when I started reading the program and saw a few familiar names. As soon as the first act started, I was immersed in an entirely different version of...

We started out walking a few laps outside of the library to warm up our muscles. While enjoying the view of Santa Ana hills displaying their brightest Spring greens and flowers, I had a chance to get to know Karen, a lovely neighbor living in Modjeska I had never met before. Pacific Marine Mammal Center focuses on Seal Lions and Seals in the area. Due to malnourishment and dehydration, more sea lions are coming in, and the Center is right there to help with that. They did an excellent job depicting how the courtroom setting is like with adoption, and how the judges just want to create families. It is a must-see film for every family. I attended an interview with the cast of Captain Marvel as a guest of Disney I had no idea what to expect when going to see Captain Marvel for the first time. The minute that the movie started, I was immersed in the film. I knew that I was going to love seeing a movie that has a woman as the lead role, but what ended up being my favorite thing about the movie is the messaging. The most important message that I took away from the film was the importance of friendship. I put on my favorite Buckle Down Captain Marvel belt, and went to Los Angeles to meet with the cast, and to hear their thoughts on making the film. Brie Larson who plays the role of Captain Marvel talked a lot about the bond that her...

Posted by on Mar 5, 2019 in Family, Melissa's Produce, Recipes | 0 comments

Cheese? Yes, please! When I got an invite to attend a celebration of Chef Debbi Dubbs cookbook, A Little Book of Cheese, I immediately said, “Yes!” When I arrived at Melissa’s Produce, the kitchen smelled amazing. There were multiple dishes featuring cheese, and I quickly learned that the aromatic dish was the minestrone soup. I enjoyed a quick meet and greet with Chef Debbi. She signed a cookbook for me to bring home to my daughter, and also gave me a copy of her second cookbook. Next, it was time to taste some of her recipes. Lunch at Melissa’s Produce I started by trying her apple pecan salad with goat cheese. Then, I had a taste of the Italian chopped salad. Both of the salads were amazing, but I found myself going back for seconds of the Italian chopped...

Lemon and Ricotta Stuffed Squash Blossoms

Posted by on Mar 1, 2019 in Melissa's Produce, Recipes | 0 comments

Squash blossoms are one of my favorite foods. During the summer, I grow squash blossoms in our backyard garden and enjoy cooking with them. One of my favorite things to do with squash blossoms is to stuff them with second favorite food – cheese. Where to Find Squash Blossoms Knowing how much I love squash blossoms, our friends at Melissa’s Produce, surprised me this week with a box of beautiful squash blossoms. When you purchase squash blossoms, you’ll want to prepare something with them right away – they do not hold long in the refrigerator. We were so lucky to get so many squash blossoms that my daughter and I made lemon and ricotta stuffed squash blossoms. Plus, we also made a squash blossom and burrata pizza to pair with it. It was the most delicious night ever in...

Cherimoya Coconut and Chicken Chili Recipe

Posted by on Feb 25, 2019 in Family, Recipes | 1 comment

Have you ever heard of a Cherimoya before? Me either. The one thing that I love about Melissa’s Produce is that they offer exotic produce, and introduces families to new culinary possibilities. When I received a package from Melissa’s Produce containing Cherimoya, I didn’t know what to do with it. I did some research, and found that it is best paired with tropical fruits like coconut. When doing my research on Cherimoya, I learned that you need to be cautious with this type of produce. The skin and the seeds are toxic, but the fruit is delicious. I waited until my Cherimoya was ripe (a soft brown hue). Then, it was time to explore the amazing fruit. There was little online that talked about Cherimoya, and I was struggling with what to make with it. It was a cold,...

At Eternity’s Gate: A Magical Masterpiece

Posted by on Feb 21, 2019 in Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

We received a complimentary copy of At Eternity’s Gate Art is something very special for my family. Since my children were toddlers, I had them painting and expressing themselves through the arts. To this day, two of them are teenagers and attend one of the most highly-acclaimed arts schools in Southern California. Along with expressing themselves through art, it is also essential for me to educate them on past artists. When I learned about the upcoming release of the film At Eternity’s Gate, I could not wait to see it with my children. The film tells the story of the final years of Vincent van Gogh. When gifted the movie, I was thrilled to receive a beautiful hand painting of myself. Plus, we also got some tasty (and beautiful) cookies to enjoy while watching the movie. I had the...

Best First Electric Shaver for Teen Boys

Posted by on Feb 21, 2019 in Family, Health, Tech | 0 comments

This Philips Norelco electric shaver story is in partnership with Best Buy I was starting to think that my teenager would never develop facial hair, but as he past his 16th birthday, I suddenly started to notice a small shadow over his lip. The time had finally come for him to get his first shaver, and since I wanted to avoid him cutting up his face, I knew that he needed an electric shaver. During the holidays, I wanted to leave one for him under the tree. I knew that if Santa had given it to him, that he would use it more than if his mommy gave it to him. So, I went to our local Best Buy and started doing some research on shavers. The staff at Best Buy is the best. They are always so informative,...

Brought to you in partnership with Universal Pictures In celebration of the upcoming release of How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World in theaters this Friday, I went to DreamWorks Animation studios to talk with America Ferrera and Jay Baruchel about their roles in bringing the film to life. The night before talking with the actors, I had a chance to see the film, and it was one of the best “How to Train Your Dragon” films ever made. I arrived at the studio excited to learn more about the making of the film. Our day started with an interactive scavenger hunt around the studio along with making a fun video flying on toothless. We then went into a room where we had a chance to talk with the actors about the making of the film. We started...
