  My family and I are big on crafting. We spend many hours together making stuff. It is something we love to do together as a family. Every holiday I like to do a quick themed craft with my kids. Since fall has come, I decided to make some stamped necklaces for Halloween. These are very simple to make and it is something any child can do. My 7 year old was my helper and we made these pretty quick. These do not have to be perfect, just spending time with your kids letting them be creative is a wonderful gift. Anaheim White House Foodie Fundraising Event

  In a show of solidarity, many top OC chefs and restaurateurs are uniting to help their colleague, Sir Bruno Serato, in the wake of a fire that closed his Anaheim White House restaurant, leaving his staff unemployed. The public is invited to attend the event to be held at Highway 39 Event Center (1563 South College Blvd, Anaheim, 92806) on Presidents Day, Monday, February 20 from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tickets are $50 each and include menu samplings; VIP tickets at $75 each offer early admission at 5 p.m. and beer and wine are included in the ticket price. Summer Kick-off Celebration at the Hotel Irvine Block Party

 We attended as a guest of Hotel Irvine Earlier this month, Hotel Irvine hosted their first annual Backyard Block Party. The culinary celebration helped to raise more than $11,000 for the IPSF that funds educational programs for children in the Irvine Unified School District. All of the top restaurants in Orange County came out to support the event by offering sweet and savory dishes for guests to sample while listening to local bands and playing fun lawn games. Hotel Irvine has a large Backyard next to their outdoor swimming pool that made for the perfect place for families to gather for the afternoon.   Chef Geeta Bansal of Clay Oven in Irvine​ ​was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011. Devastated, she began doing her research and elected to start a trial for a new type of treatment that delivered a single powerful dose of radiation in one session, followed by a surgery and other therapies. The severe side effects of those treatments began to take their toll. So she turned to Ayurvedic cooking to counteract them. The anti-carcinogenic properties of turmeric was first on her list.
