Exploring La Jolla Sea Caves with Everyday California

Posted by on Sep 6, 2015 in Cool Places, La Jolla, San Diego, Staycation, Travel | 1 comment

After visiting the Holy Jim Cave in La Jolla, I couldn’t wait to plan a return visit to explore the La Jolla sea caves via the water. Everyday California Kayaking Company The one company that stood out to me amongst the others in the area was Everyday California. They share the same passion for preserving the ocean sea life. Plus, they educate the community on the importance of our eco-system. We reserved our tickets in advance. Plus, we stayed the night at the La Valencia. It was the perfect Mother/Daughter staycation overnight getaway. After a relaxing night in La Jolla, we woke up early in the morning and had breakfast at the Shorehouse Kitchen. The restaurant is directly next door to Everyday California. After my daughter and I had enjoyed a delicious breakfast, we were ready to explore the...

Dana Point Sea Caves

Posted by on Jul 28, 2015 in Beaches, Best of OC, Dana Point | 2 comments

This summer is all about discovering the many sea caves along our beautiful coastline, and today we discovered the Dana Point Sea Caves. I have heard of these sea caves and had always wondered where they were located. Since I knew, they were somewhere around The Ocean Institute, the kids and I set out for the day to find out their exact location. Things we learned! The sea caves are only accessible during low tide (check surfline.com). There is a “small” path to the sea caves, but you’ll want to make sure your kids are wearing water shoes or tennis shoes. My kids were in flip flops, and we had a lot of stubbed toes during our adventure. There is also not a lot of shade along the walk so bring a hat and apply plenty of sunscreen. First....

Exploring the La Jolla Sea Caves – Sunny Jim Cave

Posted by on Jul 23, 2015 in Featured, San Diego, Staycation, Travel | 3 comments

I’ve kept seeing an online discount for kayaking into the La Jolla Sea Caves for years and decided to be spontaneous by surprising the kids with a visit for the first time this afternoon. The kids and I jumped into the car and made our way down the 5 freeway to La Jolla where we were about to embark on the most memorable day trip of our summer. One of the most popular ways to visit the sea caves is via kayaks, but since I was with the kids alone, I didn’t want to attempt to kayak without another adult to help ensure the kids were safe on the water. There is one place that families can visit the sea caves without water access, and it is hidden inside of a small store on the La Jolla Shores called...

When the Sea Wind Blows: 10 Evergreen Summer Fashion Tips

Posted by on Jun 16, 2020 in Family, Fashion | 0 comments

Warm weather signals the season for comfortable, breezy clothes. It may also be the time of year when you look forward to buying dresses, shoes, hats, and jeans for planned events like a vacation or wedding. The temptation is to choose on-trend things that make you feel chic or simply pick out clothes that you will wear only once. Real fashionistas avoid those kinds of mistakes. They follow a few standard rules that ensure they are well-dressed but don’t end with a closet full of pieces they’ll never wear again. The primary key is to find your look, invest in timeless, multi-purpose pieces, and make sure everything fits perfectly. Create a Capsule Wardrobe In the 1970s, wardrobe consultant Susie Faux dreamed up the idea of the “capsule wardrobe” after becoming frustrated with decision fatigue. Posted by on May 8, 2017 in Family, Health, Hot Topics, Parenting | 0 comments

I am participating in Influence Central’s Ambassador program on behalf of Claritin®. This program is paid for by the Makers of Claritin® and I have received compensation for my participation. All opinions expressed are my own. Once the big rains in Southern California stopped, the super bloom started, and my child’s seasonal allergies started to blossom. The sneezing, started to kick-in making it hard for my children to enjoy daily outdoor activities. Just last week, I took my white car to get a carwash, and within a few minutes of driving on the road, it was completely covered with yellow dust (aka pollen). The best thing that a parent can do to help children with seasonal allergies is to manage them, and one tool that I have been using for the past year to manage my children’s seasonal allergies...

Simplifying Carpooling with the mifold Booster Seat

Posted by on Apr 4, 2017 in Family, Parenting, Shopping | 0 comments

Sample received I do not know about you, but my life is hectic. I have four kids and do school carpool and extracurricular activities with my kids and their friends. Kids are in and out of my car on a daily basis. Lugging around booster seats is not very convenient, so I first purchased a blow-up booster seat. It worked well, but I had to be the one to buckle the kids in and unbuckle them because none of them could ever get the seatbelt out of the belt path. It was frustrating to the kids and to me. I was recently given the mifold Grab-and-Go Booster Seat to try out that are available in different colors. We got a very nice blue one. It has also been regularly crash tested and meets or exceeds the Federal Motor Vehicle...

Sample Received Growing up with a little brother that shares a TV with you can be hard sometimes. He always wants to watch his shows, and some of them can be really boring, but others can be really fun to watch. One of the shows that we have grown up watching together is Lego Ninjago. We have probably watched every episode up until season six. We took a break as we both got busy with school and sports. When we received the Lego Ninjago: Masters Spinjitzu season six, I was excited to watch it with him. We used to look at it when we woke up in...

Posted by on Dec 6, 2016 in Christmas, Family, Giveaways, Holiday, Theme Parks | 1 comment

Sponsored It has been many years since our family has visited SeaWorld San Diego, and since our youngest is passionate about animals and conservation, we made plans with Reserve San Diego booking services to visit SeaWorld San Diego during Thanksgiving break. The minute that we entered the gates, our children were immersed into a magical world under the sea that was all decorated for the holiday season. We started our visit to SeaWorld San Diego by watching the entertaining Dolphin Island Christmas. The show began with festive Hawaiian holiday music followed by an interactive dolphin show. It was the perfect way to kick-off our day at SeaWorld San Diego. Then our children got a unique opportunity to get up close and personal with bat rays in the large touching pool. Guests visiting the park have a chance to purchase...

Preparing for a Diabetes-Friendly Holiday Season

Posted by on Nov 18, 2016 in Christmas, Family, Health, Holiday | 1 comment

The holidays are here, and for parents of children with diabetes, this typically joyous time can quickly become scary. While the upcoming food-filled holidays take a bit of extra preparation and conscientiousness, it does not mean that you and the family will miss out on the holiday cheer. With Halloween behind us, we have a few more dessert-filled holidays on the horizon and there is no reason kids can’t indulge in a piece of pumpkin pie or a Christmas treat. But it’s important to plan ahead; adjust your child’s carbohydrate intake to allot for the added sugar at dinner. By portioning your child’s carbohydrate intake throughout the day, you can calculate exactly how many sweets your child can have to maintain a safe daily blood glucose level. Another option is to talk to your doctor or diabetes educator about...

I am participating in an Ambassador program on behalf of Influence Central and hosted by Claritin®. I have received compensation to thank me for my participation. All opinions expressed are my own. When the weather begins to cool, and the leaves start to change colors, my son’s seasonal allergies start to kick-in. He will come home from school with a runny nose. I am always looking for new ways to help manage his seasonal allergies so that he can enjoy life a little better. I was recently introduced to the Smart Allergy Mom™ Toolkit brought to us by the makers of Children’s Claritin® that provides valuable tools and resources for moms with children who suffer from allergies. Posted by on May 16, 2016 in La Paz, Mexico, Travel | 0 comments

We dined as a guest of La Paz Just a few minutes after our Volaris plane landed in La Paz from Tijuana, we took a short drive to the popular local dining destination, Bismarkcito. The owner of the restaurant started many years ago with a small fish taco stand along the Malecon, and over the years have grown to have one of the most popular family restaurants in La Paz. The restaurant features a large indoor circular bar where locals and tourists are often found sharing a cocktail together while basking in the cool ocean breezes. There is both indoor and patio seating, that both offer guests panoramic views of the crystalline waters. We were fortunate enough to get a table on the outdoor patio and sipped on a refreshing margarita while celebrating our arrival to the beautiful city...

Posted by on Apr 6, 2016 in Featured, Staycation, Travel | 1 comment

Sponsored We are lucky to have our own paradise right in our backyard and don’t have to travel far to enjoy a beautiful seaside staycation. Growing up in Newport Beach, it holds a special place in my heart, and is one of my favorite staycation destinations in Orange County. After a busy couple of days in Mexico with my children, we refreshed, recharged, and reconnected by spending 36 hours in Newport Beach, and created memories that will last a lifetime. We began our seaside staycation by checking into the Hyatt Regency Newport Beach. The resort is one of the oldest hotels in Newport Beach, and yet always stays updated with the current traveling trends. After checking into the hotel, we immediately went to the pool where my children giggled, splashed, and played for hours. The resort features two pools...
