A ‘Beautiful’ Love for Music

We attended as a guest of the Segerstrom

Beautiful the Musical

I had the incredible opportunity to take my youngest son, Tyler, to see “Beautiful” at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts earlier this week. The performance has to be one of my most favorite shows that I saw at the Segerstrom Center. I loved every part of the performance from start to finish.

I have always enjoyed listening to Carol King’s Music. She had many popular songs when I was growing up. I remember her songs were always on the radio, and I would sing along to them as a child.

Beautiful the Musical

This performance was a great reminder that life does not always go as you plan it, but what life provides is truly beautiful if you stop and appreciate the life you are living.

I had no Idea Carol King wrote most of the songs that were so iconic in the 60’s for big groups like the Shirelles (Will You still love me Tomorrow), The Chiffons (One Fine Day), The Drifters (Some Kind of Wonderful).

I also didn’t know that she and her husband wrote songs for the Monkey’s as well (Pleasant Valley Sunday). My parents grew up in the 50’s and 60’s, so I listened to a lot of the songs that were played in this musical for a greater part of my childhood. I still love listening to those classic tunes from 50’s and 60’s thanks to satellite radio.

I found myself singing along to most of the songs during the musical, and I enjoyed seeing my son recognize some of the songs at ten years old, and singing them along with me.

When we left the theater, Tyler said that he liked the performance because the music reminds him of his Grandparents and how we listen and sing along to that music when we are in the car.

Beautiful the Musical

“Beautiful” is a performance that should not be missed. If you are on the fence about going to see this musical, it is well worth it. The performance will remind you just how powerful music is and what a role it plays in our lives. If you didn’t hear music from this talented artist, this musical is guaranteed to make you a fan.
