Adobe Brick Making at Mission San Juan Capistrano

As my fourth grader prepares for her big mission report this year, we have been spending a lot of time exploring the Mission San Juan Capistrano. Not only is it a place of history, and full of education but also a calming place to spend an afternoon with the children. Over the weekend, we came to the Mission to experience their adobe brick making session, and the kids loved it!

The adobe brick making class is at the Mission every Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 3pm. The cost is $3 per person, and $1 for members. When your family, first arrives at the Mission, purchase your tickets for the brick making, along with your admission. Anytime throughout the day, your children can come to the activity area in the middle of the main courtyard to participate in the fun activity.

What can you expect?
The Mission will provide all the supplies as they walk your child through the process of making their own adobe brick. Not only will they teach your children how to make an adobe brick, but they will also talk to them about the history behind how the missionaries used the bricks to build missions.

When your kids are done making their own brick, the staff will package the brick in a nice package so that it can easily be transported home. Then it is time to try panning for gold, and exploring the birthplace of Orange County – The Mission San Juan Capistrano.

The Mission San Juan Capistrano is located at 26801 Ortega Highway in San Juan Capistrano.
