American Premiere of Choré by Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo at Segerstrom

We attended as guests of SCFTA.

Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo returned to the stage at Segerstrom Center for the Arts for the third time to bring the American premiere of Jean-Christophe Maillot’s Choré, featuring music by Danny Elfman and John Cage.

Les-Ballets-de-Monte-Carlo_Chore-7776-Alice-Blangero“Chord,” translated from French to mean “choreography,” is set in Hollywood’s Golden Age and explores the evolution of American dance and the political and word events that have shaped it.  Maillot’s stunning choreography and beautiful dancers are set off by music by Emmy and Grammy® winning composer, Elfman, and one of the most influential composers of the 20th century, Cage.

Segerstrom Center for the Arts is one of our favorite activities for a date night because with it’s prime location it lends itself perfectly to dinner at one of the fine restaurants in or around South Coast Plaza followed by a show.  It was a great start to celebrating the day of love!
