Anchor Hitch is the Best South OC Date Night Restaurant

We dined as a guest of the venue

Inside of Anchor Hitch

The one thing that South OC has needed for such a long time is a good date night restaurant. Our community is surrounded by chain restaurant after chain restaurant, and foodies like myself have to drive to North OC, San Diego or Los Angeles for a unique dining experience. I had heard a lot of buzz surrounding the upcoming opening of Anchor Hitch in Mission Viejo, and how they were going to be bringing the LA dining scene to South OC, and I was crazy excited.

After having a massage at Burke Williams, my husband met me at the Kaleidoscope for an unforgettable date night at Anchor Hitch. I was already relaxed from my massage, and ready to embark on an epicurean adventure with my husband.

Anchor Hitch Decor

The moment that I walked into the restaurant, it was love at first sight. The restaurant has a modern, chic ambiance, and we felt like we were under the sea. We found a perfect seat next to the window where we would spend the night enjoying delicious seafood while watching the sunset.

Oyster

Scallops at Anchor Hitch

Our dinner started with some freshly shucked Kumamoto oysters and raw scallops. The oysters tasted like they had just been pulled from the ocean floor and the scallops were unforgettable.

Ceviche at Anchor Hitch

Then we were served one of the most delicious dishes that my taste buds have ever met, the Hamachi Chipotle Ceviche. It is a must-have dish when dining at Anchor Hitch, and featured a ponzu pico de gallo, chipotle cream, and wonton chips.

panna cotta at Anchor Hitch

After the ceviche, we wanted to have more and ordered the abalone panna cotta. The impressive dish featured braised abalone, uni, mirugai, ikura, lemon vinaigrette, and herbs. I recommend this dish for the couple who want to me a little adventurous and explore something new.

Albacore at Anchor Hitch

Then there was the Cajun Seared Albacore. It is the sweet ponzu dressing and garlic cream that made it feel like I was experiencing albacore for the first time. The chef seasoned the seafood to perfection, and it was complimented with roasted asparagus and mushrooms.

ravioli at Anchor Hitch

For the main course, I ordered the Tom Yum Agnoletti. The dish was beautifully presented with edible flowers on top of shrimp stuffed ravioli, tom yum cream, sesame seeds, scallions, and sauteed maitake mushrooms. This dish was one that the chef created while in culinary school and highlights his talents.

Halibut at Anchor Hitch

My husband decided to have the halibut for dinner that was paired with a parsnip puree, wild foraged mushrooms, ginger, scallions, and roasted corn. It was one of the freshest and most flavorful halibut dishes he has ever had.

Cocktails in Anchor Hitch

It is not just the dishes at Anchor Hitch that are incredible, but also their cocktails. They have a talented chef who is creating craft cocktails for their guests using pure, fresh ingredients.
