Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve
When planning family vacations, I always include a hike in our itinerary. When planning our trip to visit Santa Rosa, there were so many hiking options, but I knew that I wanted to take a hike in the redwoods.
After wine tasting at the Korbel Winery, we made the short drive to the Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve. We parked the car and unpacked the picnic lunch that we had picked up at the Korbel Winery deli. We sat under the giant redwood trees and had a delicious lunch together.
One of the favorite things about the Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve is that it is not crowded like other places where families can see redwoods. It was so calm, peaceful, and we could hear the little scratches from a squirrel climbing up one of the trees.
The perfect hiking trail to explore with children is the Pioneer Nature Trail. The trail is only 0.75 miles and is stroller friendly. It is a wide, smooth path making it easy for families with little ones.
While on the hiking trail, we were able to get up-close with the beautiful redwood trees. There are many photo opportunities inside some of the trees and plenty of places to stop, rest, and enjoy the beautiful trees. We took a relaxing stroll along the trail while admiring the breathtaking redwood trees.
The hike was one of my favorite family activities while visiting Santa Rosa. When planning your upcoming family getaway to Santa Rosa, make plans to go on a hike along the Pioneer Nature Trail in the Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve. It is located at 17000 Armstrong Woods Rd, Guerneville, CA 95446.
