Angelina’s Pizzeria New Menu Delights Us

Posted by on May 31, 2018 in Dining, Family | 0 comments

We dined as a guest of the venue Every so often, my heart skips a beat for a delicious, savory Italian meal. I’d been recently dreaming about a great pasta dish accompanied by a glass of vino. Imagine my delight when I was invited to dine as a guest of Angelina’s Pizzeria Napoletana. A chance to discover their new Spring Menu with a unique and fresh take on some familiar but also new, creative dishes. I began with the dish Burrata di Primavera; a lovely marriage of Burrata, English Peas, Fava Beans, Mint + Lemon. It’s one of my favorites now with a burst of flavor and reminds you of Spring. The idea of Burrata with anything makes me happy. This next dish, an Antipasto of Charred Octopus, Braised Chickpeas, Tomatoes, and Marjoram is imaginative, smokey and delicious. Chef...

OC Wine Fest – A Day of Wine + Friends

Posted by on Mar 29, 2018 in Events | 0 comments

We visited as a guest of the venue A little rain didn’t stop this writer from attending the OC Wine Fest at “A Stones Throw” in San Juan Capistrano. In fact, we seemed to be in great company with fellow wine enthusiasts! Wineries from as far north as Napa and south to Escondido gathered to share their bottled treasures. Enticing us with beautiful notes of fruit; from the crispness of a Sauvignon Blanc to a full body flavor of a Cabernet Sauvignon. We enjoyed learning in depth about the winemakers and their individual stories. We found it often begins with a passion for creating a wine for themselves and soon discover they have a delicious wine to share with others; and so a winery is born. We love when that happens and by the winemakers enthusiasm, they do too....

We visited as a guest of the venue Who likes to escape to a tropical paradise to rejuvenate and relax? We sure do, and we found the perfect place to share with all of you! Kona Kai Resort & Spa, a beautiful, local resort and spa in San Diego; truly a sparkling jewel. Pulling into the circular drive of Kona Kai Resort & Spa on Shelter Island reminded us of how close, and yet how removed we were from the fast pace of city life in downtown San Diego. As we walked through the property out toward the cabana’s, we felt the warm sun and ocean breezes blanket us. We soon found ourselves sipping on a lovely cocktail of grapefruit juice & champagne while taking in the harbor views. Ahead of us, a day of pampering within the walls...

Just seeing her dance, sing, clap, and smile during the show warmed my heart. The real fun came when the gospel singers invited those celebrating a birthday or an anniversary on to the stage. The funny thing is, I had just added a night out to go painting on my list of must do’s for the year ahead, I’m big on broadening my experiences each year. I was even more excited since this would allow me to revisit my love of painting; something I haven’t done for about ten years now. Venturing out in the rain this evening, I found I wasn’t going to let a little water from the sky stop me from painting and following my passion again. Corks & Canvas is all about enjoying an evening of painting! I loved that our instructor was from the local...
