OC Suitcase Soirée Benefits Children with Autism

On Friday, September 20, Former MLB All-Star Pitcher Eddie Guardado, along with his wife Lisa Guardado, hosted the OC Suitcase Soirée to benefit children with autism. Eddie and his wife Lisa established The Eddie Guardado Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3), in 2008 after their youngest child, Ava, was diagnosed with autism. Lisa and Eddie understand the emotional and financial hardships families impacted with autism experience and founded the Eddie Guardado Foundation to help other families receive access to therapy and treatments that they could not otherwise afford. In January 2011, The Eddie Guardado Foundation joined forces with ACT Today! Monroe Elementary School Receives a Newly Renovated Library

Target Corp. and The Heart of America Foundation has unveiled a newly renovated library at Monroe Elementary School. The renovated library will feature 2,000 new books and a technology upgrade, including new iPads. Monroe Elementary is one of 25 elementary schools to have been selected to receive a brand new library as part of the Target School Library Makeover program. If you’re not familiar with the program, here’s a fun infographic that shows you a look at the life of these projects. As part of this program, Target is on track to give $1 billion for education by the end of 2015. The Dark Harbor Halloween experience has returned with new spirits, mazes, freaks and frights inspired by the real-life hauntings on the Queen Mary in Long Beach. The Queen Mary is located in the Port of Long Beach and features a rich history of Art Deco going back to her maiden voyage back in 1936.
