Back-to-School with Etnies

The hardest part about summer ending is getting the kids ready with all of their back-to-school needs. The school supply list, new clothes and setting up a carpool can feel daunting. The one thing that I focus on when getting the kids ready to go back-to-school is their shoes! All of us moms can agree that most kid’s shoes are not built to last, and we spend a fortune throughout the year keeping our kids in strong, sturdy shoes.

For years, I would purchase my kid’s the same brand of shoes, only to be purchasing them new shoes every couple of months or I would be sending them to school with shoes torn-up and covered in holes. That was until I learned about Etnies shoes. Etnies is an Orange County based company, and committed to providing parents with high-quality shoes that are built to last.

Since I have transitioned my kids to Etnies shoes, instead of replacing my kids shoes because they have fallen apart, I now just replace them only because they have outgrown their shoes. Etnies makes their shoes for skateboarders who need shoes that can withstand the abuse taken when jumping ramps and pedaling on their boards. Because the shoes are made to withstand this type of usage, they are the perfect shoes for kids who like to run around the playground, play basketball, swing around the tether ball courts and climb on the monkey bars.

Last week, we went to the Etnies headquarters to meet with the founder, and father, Pierre-Andre Senizergues. Pierre-Andre Senizergues talked to us about his commitment to helping our environment by having a facility that is 100% solar-powered, planting trees in the rainforest and still providing parents with a high-quality product for their children. As a dad of two young children, he has seen first hand the importance that shoes play in a child’s growth and development.

After talking with Pierre-Andre Senizergues, the kids got an interactive demonstration from Rick Marmolijo, the Etnies Lead Designer. He walked the kids through the design process before encouraging them to unleash their creativity by designing their dream Etnies shoes.

The day ended with our kids putting their back-to-school Etnies shoes to the test at the Etnies skatepark in Lake Forest with the famous Ryan Sheckler. The kids learned tricks and skills from a professional skateboarder before heading home to start packing their backpacks for the first day of school.

When going to the store to purchase your kid’s back-to-school shoes, help support an Orange County company, and family by purchasing shoes that will last throughout the school year – Etnies!
