Baker Ranch Park in Lake Forest

Baker Ranch Park in Lake Forest is located off Bake and Dimension in the new Baker Ranch Development. My kids and I had never been to this park before, but I think after our visit this park will be on our list of top parks in the OC. This park made me want to be a kid again, as I raced across the play structure with my kids and down the slides.

The park opened about 5 months ago so everything feels so fresh and new. There are two separate play areas. One rated for 2-5 year olds and the bigger equipment playground is rated for 5-12 year olds. The smaller playground has sand on one side, so make sure to bring those sand toys. The smaller playground has a small open slide, small ride on pony and some interactive play choices including a little puppet show area for kids to let their imaginations run wild.

The bigger kid area has a total of three slides, one long tunnel slide (which my kids could not get enough of), one tall twisting slide and one open tall slide. There is also an arched climbing rock that is always a big hit with the older kids. The kids also enjoyed how the entire play structure connected so you could run and play across all the bridges. On the play structure you can find plenty for a kid’s imagination with all the steering wheels and tunnels to climb through.

For all the chess/checker enthusiasts there are two tables underneath the bigger play structure, you just need to bring your own pieces to play with. There are also plenty of choices for those kids who love to climb and even wheel shaped monkey bars. The ground under the play structure is a synthetic grass with a rubber base. This is great for the kids to run around on, and helps make it so they don’t slip going up the hills. There are no swings which I thought might be a bummer, but I think with all the other fun stuff to play on they didn’t mind.

The sitting area right next to the play structures does not have any shade until the newly planted trees get bigger. It gets hot up on the hill the park sits on so I recommend bringing an umbrella. There are two shaded picnic areas in the middle of the two play areas. Each area has a large charcoal barbecue grill. This area would be great for a small family picnic or a large party. There is also a parking lot dedicated for the park and street parking is available as well if needed. A great plus is the nice new restrooms right close to the playgrounds. For all your kids that love to play sports there is even a baseball diamond and a sunken full basketball court.

I hope you enjoy the park as much as we did, I’m sure we will be back many more times.

Jaime was born and raised in Southern Orange County and currently lives in Rancho Santa Margarita with her family. She has two amazing children and an adorable Frenchton. Her family keeps her on her toes or maybe it’s the other way around. She loves experiencing life through the eyes of her children, rather it be a new adventure or one of her childhood memories. In her downtime ( wink wink) you can find her on Pinterest searching for the next recipe she’s going to make or planning their next family adventure. She loves staying active in her kids lives rather it be volunteering at their school or for their sports teams. You should see her throw a football 🙂
