Basketball, Comedy, & Shenanigans with the Harlem Globetrotters
The Harlem Globetrotters are a one of a kind exhibition basketball team that has combined a love of basketball and comedy for fans for the past 90 years. Their performances mesh basketball and gymnastics athleticism with acting and comedy to produce a show unlike any other.
We recently attended one of their performances during their 90th-year tour and enjoyed all the (sometimes crazy!) entertainment.
One of the unique and fun things about the Globetrotters is that they involve their audience whenever possible. Kids are pulled out on the court during breaks in the game and halftime; players talk to front row fans when on the sideline, and are always encouraging audience participation.
At our particular show, we saw an entire Boy Scout team pulled out on the court for some shenanigans as well as one of the best-loved players, TNT, wandered out into the audience to take a selfie with a young girl. The games are full of fun, and we’d recommend seats as close as possible to the court if you want to get into the action.
TNT is the only female currently on the Globetrotters audience and a great example for young girls everywhere to follow their dreams. After the show, the entire team is available for autographs. It’s an excellent opportunity to get up close and personal with the players, and especially for young girls to be inspired by meeting TNT.
Without a doubt, the Globetrotters are an entertaining show that the whole family can enjoy. To see videos of the team, view their upcoming schedule, and purchase tickets, visit Harlemglobetrotters.com.
