Doing a lot of entertainment coverage, I have had the pleasure of meeting a lot of celebrities over the years, and Jimmy Kimmel is by far the nicest celebrity I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Now, I am a full-time working mom to three young children, so I’m not going to lie and say that I stay up to watch Jimmy Kimmel every night, but when I do, I know that I am always going to be treated to some incredible entertainment.

While in Los Angeles last week for the premiere of “Million Dollar Arm,” I got a chance to go behind the scenes of Jimmy Kimmel. When we first arrived at the steps on Hollywood Boulevard, I was in awe over the beauty of the historic building where the show is filmed. We were whisked into a private room where we got to enjoy Cinco de mayo snacks and watch the “un-bleeped” version of the show on the big screen television.

Before the show started, we got a unique opportunity to talk with the producer and writer of the show to learn more about how they keep the show lively and funny every night of the week.

There are thirteen writers on the show plus Jimmy Kimmel, and they all do everything. All of their story pitches are due at 9:50 in the morning, and approved around 11am to go live on the air at 6pm. Jimmy is given about 45 pages in the morning that he has to cut into 1 1/2 pages for the show, and he does this every single day! They have four guys who are watching television all day pulling clips for the writers to make jokes for the show. For the most part, Jimmy is relying on what was approved in the morning, but they encourage improv.

After learning about the show, and then laughing during the performance, we got a tour the stage and meet Jimmy Kimmel. He took the time to take individual pictures with all of the bloggers who attended the event and talked to us about the show.

It was a memorable night and my love for the show grew after learning about the hard work that goes into every performance and the great people who make it happen. Jimmy Kimmel is on the ABC Television Network weeknights at 11:35pm/10:35c.
