Huntington Beach restaurants came out over the weekend to offer samples of their top dishes to local food lovers in Orange County. The Taste of Huntington Beach is one of the most popular food events in Orange County helping to raise funds for the Huntington Beach Children’s Library. My husband and I planned a “date day” to spend at the Taste of Huntington Beach as we discovered some new fabulous restaurants along with enjoying some of our all-time favorites.

Deli-licious

One of our new discoveries was Deli-licious. The family-friendly sandwich shop offered samples of their turkey sandwich that we can’t wait to bring the kids back to try.

Red Table Burger

There were a lot of burgers and tacos, and I can never resist a juicy burger. Our two favorite burgers served at the Taster of HB was from Eureka! and Red Table. Both of the burgers were juicy and had us coming back for more throughout the event.

The display caught our eye, and the food won over our tastebuds from Pete’s Sunset Grille at the Hyatt HB. The shrimp was fresh, sweet and light – perfect for a warm afternoon lunch in Huntington Beach. We also sampled some delicious almonds and olive oil from their on site restaurant WaterTable at the Hyatt Huntington Beach. The food inspired us to start planning our next staycation this summer at the lavish beachfront resort.

Food from Huntington Terrace Senior Living

Food from Huntington Terrace Senior Living

One of the biggest surprises was the food served from Huntington Terrace Senior Living. We never would have expected such gourmet cuisine to come from a Senior Living restaurant, but they are now “the” place that my husband I want to retire in Orange County.

Then there were our already favorite dining destinations that we dine on a regular basis: Stonefire Grill, Solita and Slapfish. All of them were just as delicious as we expected them to be.

Orange Coast Winery

Did I mention there was alcohol? Plenty of it. We could not go more than a couple of feet before being introduced to a new winery or brewery. Since my husband I don’t drink beer, we only sampled the wineries, and we were most impressed with the wine served from Orange Coast Winery. Their Sauvignon blanc was one of the best wines I have tasted. We can’t wait to plan a date night to explore more of their wines at their local tasting room.

When it came to dessert, Simply Layered Cake Design, had our vote for the best dessert. Their chocolate cake was incredible and their presentation was one of the best at the event. They satisfied our sweet cravings during the event, and are now one of our favorite bakeries to visit while in Huntington Beach.

Ricos Tacos Dona Mari

Our favorite taco tasting that we had at the event was from Ricos Tacos Dona Mari. They were authentic and paired perfectly with their large salsa bar. (7781 Cypress Dr. #2 Huntington Beach)

The fun continued throughout the day with live music, massages and a silent auction. It was the perfect way to share a love for the culinary arts while reconnecting together as a husband and wife. The Taste of Huntington Beach will be coming back on April 26, 2015. Stay tuned for news of ticket sales on ocmomdining.com.
