Black Violin to Perform at Musco Center for the Arts + Giveaway

The Musco Center for the Arts at Chapman University presents Black Violin on February 18 at 7:30pm. Classical music hits the street in the crackling performance of Black Violin, a duo of classically-trained musicians who have created an entirely new sound. This distinctive, peerless combination of virtuosic string talent mixes with a driving beat, shattering stereotypes with electricity, energy, and contagious enthusiasm.

Their poignant and timely videos on YouTube, including “A Flat” and “Stereotypes,” have nearly 15 million views.

When the members of Black Violin first learned to play their signature instruments
– Wil Baptiste at the viola and Kev Marcus at the violin, neither could have forseen that it would become their livelihood. The two Florida natives met while attending a Florida performing arts high school and formed the group after college. They have worked with an array of musicians, including Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park, P.Diddy, Aerosmith and Aretha Franklin. Touring globally with hip hop mainstays like Fat Joe, Akon and the Wu-Tang Clan, Black Violin has performed in locations as diverse as Prague, Dubai, and South Africa.

Tickets for Feb. 18 are on-sale now for $30-55 and may be purchased through the Musco Center online at www.muscocenter.org or by calling the box office at 844-OC-MUSCO (844-626-8726).
