BLT Pizza Recipe

When making pizza with the kids, I am always trying to mix it up and get creative with the ingredients. Over the weekend, we made a delicious BLT pizza with just a few simple, fresh summer ingredients that the kids loved.

If it is making the dough that is keeping you from trying to make your own pizza at home, local stores are making it easy for parents. Although, Trader Joe’s is always a popular place to get pre-made pizza dough, it is usually on the sticky side and often hard to roll-out. I prefer getting mine at Whole Foods Market from the deli counter – and it is the same price! At Whole Foods, they use on the highest quality ingredients, and it is made the same day, making the pizza fresher and the dough easier to use.

Ingredients:

  • Pizza dough
  • 2 Tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 crush garlic clove
  • 1 package of fresh mozzarella
  • 2-3 pieces of cooked bacon
  • 1 cup of sliced cherry tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup of fresh arugula

Directions:

1. On a floured surface, roll-out the pizza dough and place on an airbake pizza pan.

2. Brush olive oil on the pizza dough, and then sprinkle with garlic.

3. Cook in a 450 degree oven for 5-6 minutes.

4. Remove the pizza dough from the oven and add slices of cheese, bacon and tomatoes.

5. Return to the oven for another 5-6 minutes, and cook until the pizza dough is crispy and fully cooked.

6. Add fresh arugula to the top of the pizza, and serve warm.

7. Enjoy!
