Bold Girlz to the Rescue with Superhero Etiquette Workshop

We attended as guests of the venue.

Have you ever wanted to instill in your kids a sense of manners and social graces, but not sure how to go about it and make it fun in the process?  Or, maybe as a Mom you aren’t confident in exactly the right fork to use for which course at a dinner party, much less how to instruct  your daughter to do so?  We’re not exactly in the old fashion age where etiquette caries a lot of weight, but that doesn’t mean that it all has to be thrown to the wind either.

Enter Bold Girlz‘ brand new Superhero Etiquette Workshops, a fun, modern and interactive way of teaching manners and social graces to children ages 6 to 14.

Bold Girlz is known for birthday parties, fashion camps and other events with a theme of empowering young girls. But recently Bold Girlz founder and local mom and entrepreneur, Cheryl Beck, created the Etiquette Workshop after hearing from customers that they were struggling to teach their children manners and being respectful outside the home.

The workshop is set in a fun and modern atmosphere and taught by engaging local high school girls who seem to captivate the younger girls in the class in a way that a mom talking about etiquette just might not be able to do.

The class starts with Ms Beck introducing the Bold Girl values – Brave, Original, Loving, Daring (spelling the acronym BOLD) – and explaining a little bit about the importance of etiquette in the real world.

The first half of the class then moves to prosper sitting and walking for young ladies, introductions with eye contact and a few other social essentials. The girls in the class each take turns introducing themselves to the teenager instructors with a firm handshake, eye contact, and bonus: a compliment about the new friend they are just meeting!

The class then moves to the rear area of the store, which is set up with long tables and chairs, for the section on table manners. Proper technique on cutting and holding a fork is discussed and practiced as well as the correct way to set a table are all covered.  We loved this little trick they taught us: fork, moon, knife spoon (plate looks like a full moon). So catchy, my girls will never forget it now!

The Superhero Etiquette Workshops are hour and a half sessions running $25 per child, with group pricing available (perfect for a birthday party, girls scout field trip or a playdate!).  The next workshops will be Tuesday, May 15 and Wednesday, May 16. Call the store or visit their website to register.

Before our evening of fun at Bold Girlz, we partook in a delicious family Shabu dinner at Oyu Shabu in Union Market.  My kids thought it was particularly good fun being able to dip and cook their own food!
I’d highly recommend Union Market Mission Viejo as a family friendly dining atmosphere with something for everyone in the family.  View there many different culinary offerings here.
