Brunch in Vegas with DreamWorks ‘Trolls’ Anna Kendrick

We attended as a guest of DreamWorks

Flying over Vegas

Last week, I opened my email inbox to find an invitation to fly to Las Vegas to have brunch with the talented Anna Kendrick, who is starring in the upcoming DreamWorks Animation Film, “Trolls.” I quickly made arrangements for the kids to be taken care of and boarded a plane to Las Vegas for an epic 24 hours in Vegas.

When I arrived in Vegas, the city was pumping with excitement over the big announcement DreamWorks Animation and 20th Century Fox was going to be making the next morning at CinemaCon. I checked into my room at Caesars Palace Las Vegas Hotel and Casino and then met with some other journalist friends for dinner and an evening walking around Las Vegas.

The next morning, as the sun began to rise, the time had come to have brunch with the talented Anna Kendrick. Along with a group of journalists, I joined her for breakfast at the popular Palm Restaurant located inside of Caesars Palace Las Vegas Hotel and Casino. The restaurant walls were blanketed with caricature drawings of hundreds of celebrities, and there was a feeling of excitement in the air as guests anxiously awaited her arrival.

All heads turned as Anna Kendrick entered the restaurant to join us for breakfast. She has a strong aura that surrounds her and her vivacious personality lit up the room. The restaurant was filled with laughter as everyone savored the delicious cuisine while celebrating her new role as Poppy in the upcoming Dreamworks film “Trolls.”

Before it was time to go over to the theater where DreamWorks Animation and 20th Century Fox were going to make the big announcement of introducing “Trolls” to the guests attending CinemaCon, we gathered together for a group photo. After taking a keepsake photo from our time together, Kendrick shared with enthusiasm, “Animation is the best thing ever, and I would do it for free, but don’t tell anyone. It’s the best thing ever.”

The film brings the popular retro 80’s childhood toy, Trolls, to life. Kendrick described her character as a complete opposite of herself and said, “She’s such a psycho. She’s so happy and so positive, and because I’m kind of like a grumpy person, it comes out kind of unhinged, you know, because I’m not the person who’s like, “Everything’s fine!” I’m the person who’s like, “Everything’s ruined!” even when it’s not.”

20th Century Fox at Cinemacon

We all giggled and left the restaurant for the big announcement at CinemaCon. We took our seats in the big theater. The lights began to dim, and Vanilla Ice took the stage and started singing a rendition of “Ice Ice Baby” called “Ice Age Baby” before the announcement of the upcoming film “Ice Age: Collision Course” coming out in theaters on July 22nd.

The morning continued to have many exciting announcements of the upcoming DreamWorks Animation and 20th Century Fox films, and it was clear that it is going to be a big year for the studio.

Dreamworks Trolls

We were given a chance to see about 15 minutes of the upcoming film “Trolls,” and it was heartwarming, sweet, and hilarious. DreamWorks Animation far exceeded the expectations that 80’s Trolls doll collectors have about the film.

While on the plane heading home, I couldn’t help but have flashbacks of when I was a child, playing in the sandbox with my friends at the park with our Trolls dolls. The film is going to be a lovely way for parents to introduce a big part of our childhood with our children.

Don’t miss “Trolls” in theaters on November 4th. Learn more about “Trolls” online, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram #DreamWorksTrolls.
