Imagine your most intimate moments with your spouse shared with the world. How far would you go to get those private moments back? That’s exactly what Columbia Pictures explored in their latest movie, Sex Tape, starring Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel, opening this Friday, July 18.

Cameron Diaz, Jason Segel and director Jake Kasdan are a winning combination in this romantic comedy about two married adults who love each other very much, but life and kids have gotten in the way of their “intimate“ life. They decide to spice things up one night by filming their three- hour private “escapades” which end up very public thanks to Jason’s accidental upload to the cloud. Jay (Jason Segel) and Annie (Cameron Diaz), a mom blogger, end up on an outrageous adventure to try and regain the private video from the IPAD’s Jason had previously given away.

Jason and Cameron are absolutely hilarious together and have such chemistry on the screen. Director Jake Kasdan, shared with us that one of his biggest challenges with the film was to bring a balance between the comedy and sexuality. He expressed that nudity often causes awkwardness in a comedy. The four minutes of sexuality in the film is fun, silly and laughable. Cameron and Jason had to wear modesty garments to give the illusion of nudity and described the set as having a “locker room vibe”.

Cameron Diaz was just as funny and beautiful in person as she is in film. She believes the movie to be very relatable and described the couples as “ these people who really love each other, they know that they’ve married the right person, they are not having a hard time in their relationship, they are just having a hard time having this part of the relationship be a priority and it’s the night they decide to make it the priority to communicate it to one another and they do something that’s kinda feels authentic to them in the fun department ”. She also discussed the fact that she was taken out of context in a recent interview in which she was misquoted as not wanting to have children. This recent interview appeared to be very frustrating for her as she never said she wouldn’t have children.

Jason Segel, who was also one of the writers of the screenplay, was incredibly personable, constantly cracking jokes through out the interview. Even though the film is lighthearted, he hopes to inspire conversation between married couples who may be going through the same thing. “I hope that when people see the movie that on the car ride home there’s an interesting phenomenon where they laugh a little bit about how crazy it was the adventure of it all and then there’s a little bit of silence and then a real discussion that begins.”

Ellie Kemper, Rob Corddry, and Rob Lowe did an amazing job and kept you laughing the entire movie. There is also a surprise guest which you will know and love. While this film is a comedy, it is not for the easily offended. Produced by Tod Black, Jason Blumenthal, and Steve Tisch, this film is rated R for Strong Sexual Content, Nudity, Language and Some Drug Use. If you want an adult night out with no kids, this is your movie.

Sex Tape is in theaters this Friday!
