We visited as a guest of Fox In celebration of the recent release of “Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie” on digital download and its upcoming release on Blu-ray and DVD on September 12th we attended an epic party in Los Angeles over the weekend. The event was held at one of the coolest venues in Downtown Los Angeles. The building was covered with beautiful street art and was once a toy manufacturing building. Inside, the entire building was transformed into the world of Captain Underpants. When we first walked into the building, we were invited to take some fun photos in the photo booth. My kids made some boomerangs and took a lot of pictures with the characters from the film. Then it was time for lunch. The lunch buffet featured spaghetti and meatball sliders, BLT toast, chicken...

Posted by on Sep 6, 2017 in Disney, Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

I visited as a guest of Disney I have had the honor of meeting many Disney legends over the years, but I had the most magical experience when meeting Ernie Sabella last month at Walt Disney World. Who is Ernie Sabella? He is not only one of the most talented actors in Hollywood, but also the voice of the beloved Pumbaa in the movie The Lion King. Normally, when I meet a celebrity at a media event, I usually get a photo opportunity and time to ask them some questions about the film they are currently promoting. It was very different when I first met Ernie Sabella. It was the first night that I had arrived at Walt Disney World, and I went to a special Lion King themed dinner that Sabella was attending. When I approached Ernie Sabella...

Posted by on Sep 4, 2017 in Disney, Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

I attended the interview as a guest of Disney The beautiful Disneynature film Born in China has been released recently on Blu-ray and digital download. While I was at Disney World last month, I had the extreme honor of talking with the creative genius behind the film Born in China, Roy Conli. Conli is well-known for his work on Big Hero 6, Tangled, and Born in China was his first time working on a Disneynature film. Everyone who sees the film is captivated by the story of the snow leopards. The beautiful animals live in a place where many humans could never survive, and the story that we followed in the movie exposed my children to how the snow leopards survive in their harsh climate. Since the movie has already been released in theaters and Blu-ray, many already know...

Sponsored The Lion King is my favorite Disney movie ever created. I feel that once people see the Lion King, they will fall in love with just like I did. Now that I am a teenager, all of my friends want to watch the latest movie release, but I feel that we should also relive our love for childhood classics like the Lion King. Recently, I saw the Lion King for the first time as a teenager with my friends during a backyard movie night, and it was like seeing it for the first time. These are my three reasons why teenagers should watch the Lion King. The music. Almost every teenager loves music, and the Lion King has the best music ever. If you are like me and value music most when it comes to movies, then this...

How to Have and Epic Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Movie Night

Posted by on Aug 28, 2017 in Disney, Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

Sponsored The time has finally come for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 to be released on blu-ray and digital download with Disney Movies Anywhere. The movie is one of my kids all time favorites, and when it was released on blu-ray, I immediately got a copy of the film to add to our home movie collection. In celebration of the film release, I invited some of my kid’s friends over to our home for an epic Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 backyard movie night. I wanted the food to be themed after the film, but I didn’t have a lot of time to make themed dishes for the evening. Instead of making foods, I found food in our grocery store that was “space themed.” I got Sun Chips, Starburst, Milky Way, Eclipse gum, and Sunkist soda. When...

COCO tells children the story of what Día de los Muertos means

Posted by on Aug 28, 2017 in Disney, Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

I attended the interview as a guest of Disney Most of you who have been following my journeys over the past couple of years know, I have a love for the country of Mexico. I first started spending time in the country so that I could immerse my adopted son into the culture of his biological father, but as I spent time in the country, it became more than that to our family. Our family spends every possible moment that we have in the beautiful country, learning about the culture, enjoying delicious cuisine, and making lifelong friends. We don’t visit the country to stay and play at plush resorts, but to explore and learn about the culture. We’ve already made over ten trips to Mexico this year with more plans to return before the end of the year. There...

Disney’s Animal Conservationist Anne Savage

Posted by on Aug 24, 2017 in Disney, Entertainment, Film, Walt Disney World | 0 comments

We visited as a guest of Disney While I was in Florida learning about Disney’s The Lion King and Born and China, I went to have breakfast with one of the world’s top conservationist Anne Savage. I was very busy leading up to the trip, and while I had a chance to read her extensive bio, I didn’t have an opportunity to look up her photo online. While I was enjoying breakfast with the group I was traveling with, the sweetest woman came over to the table and started to talk to us about Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and that was when it hit me – she was Anne Savage! The interview was unlike any other I had experienced before and was more about conversation vs. a Q&A. Anne Savage is an incredible conservationist who has done so much work...

Posted by on Aug 24, 2017 in Disney, Entertainment, Film, San Francisco, Travel | 0 comments

We visited as a guest of the venue One of my favorite things to do when I’m in the San Francisco area is to visit the Walt Disney Family Museum. When I went to visit Pixar Animation Studios to learn about the upcoming film COCO, I made a stop at the museum before flying home. One exhibit at the museum that captivated me was Deja View: The Art of Andreas Deja. Before exploring the exhibit at the Walt Disney Family Museum, I didn’t know a lot about Andreas Deja. I quickly learned that he is one of the most highly acclaimed animators of all-time and is known for his work on bringing Scar in The Lion King to life. While I was looking around the exhibit and admiring his work, there were drawings of lions that didn’t look familiar...

Don Hahn is known for producing Beauty and the Beast, The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Lion King, and more. And Rob Minkoff is a highly acclaimed director who is known for his work on Stuart Little and the beloved classic, The Lion King. I had trouble sleeping the night before the interview because I was so excited about meeting the two of them. With The Lion King being one of my favorite Disney movies, I had so many questions that I was wanted to ask them that were spinning around in my head as...

Ultimate 80’s Road Trip Playlist

Posted by on Aug 21, 2017 in Autos, Kia, Music | 0 comments

Vehicle provided by Kia Our summer has been full of epic road trips exploring the world in a beautiful Kia Sorento. One of my favorite features in the Sorento is the Infinity soundsystem that allows me to blast my favorite tunes as loud as I want without the fear of blowing out the speakers. While on our road trips, the radio in our Kia seemed to be always set on the 80’s on 8, and my kid’s and I sung along to countless awesome 80’s songs. The summer might be over for my two older kids, but my youngest still has a couple more weeks of summer to explore. That means another road trip! Since my older music loving son won’t be with me to share his Pandora playlist or sing together off tune to our favorite songs, he...

“Disney-Hyperion sent me a copy to check out, and is partnering with me for a giveaway!” Over the past decade, millions of young readers, parents, and teachers have come to adore Rick Riordan’s classic series Percy Jackson and the Olympians, which made ancient Greek mythology contemporary, relevant, and entertaining as it turned kids on to reading. Now fans can literally color Percy’s world with the amusing portraits, dramatic scenes, and intricate designs on every spread of this large format paperback. This book is a great way to introduce young children to the series, to allow older fans to reminisce, and to augment classroom units on Greek mythology. We were lucky to get a copy of the book before it was released in the store, and my two boys have been enjoying all of their free time bringing the stories...

Best Teen Summer Movie: Descendants 2

Posted by on Aug 14, 2017 in Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

We received a copy of the film The first Descendants movie was my favorite Disney Channel original movie ever, and that is coming from a girl who has grown up watching the Disney Channel. I watched Descendants over and over again when it first came out, and when I heard that they were making Descendants 2, I was thrilled. Descendants 2 was everything I had hoped it would be. It has fantastic music, a lot of action, and awesome plot-twists. While I was waiting for the summer day to come when Descendants 2 would arrive, I read the book at least three times. The Return to the Isle of the Lost really gives you some prior knowledge of the movie. I loved the book almost as much as I enjoyed the film. When July 21 finally was here, I...

We attended as guests Disney’s The Lion King Sing Along at The Greek Theater in Los Angeles, California. The Greek Theater is located in the beautiful Los Angeles hills of Griffith Park. Our family was so excited to see this Disney Classic and sing all of the songs you know and love from The Lion King as we watched the movie at The Greek Theater. As we entered the venue, we were greeted and took our photo with Rafiki in the Cubs’ Corner. Here the kids snacked on chicken skewers, fruit, popcorn, and water. You could also get your face painted like The Lion King himself. From there we headed over to the VIP Fandango Lounge for some food & drinks hosted by Fandango. The Fandango Lounge is a woodsy patio nestled in the trees where we could sit...

The Magic of The Little Mermaid Comes to Life

Posted by on Jul 27, 2017 in Entertainment, Theatre | 0 comments

We visited as a guest of the venue My children’s love of musical theater began with Musical Theater Orange County‘s (MTOC) production of Tarzan. Each year around May, my children ask when the next production of MTOC will come out, and each year I tell them the same thing, July. The Little Mermaid was our 4th experience with MTOC, and like each production before, we were not disappointed. After last year’s Beauty and the Beast, I started following MTOC on Facebook and Instagram and kept up to date on their goings on. I was surprised to see how much they did throughout the year from musical theater, Capella group, Improv classes, acting, puppetry, as well as technical theater workshops. Year round MTOC was helping their talented students cultivate their art. Located in Anaheim their evening classes cap at 10 students and run about two...

I’ll have the afternoon to relax at my hotel before meeting with a group of other bloggers attending the trip and ride over to the Pixar Animation Studios. Then it will be time for the best part – screening footage from COCO introduced by Director Lee Unkrich, Writer and Co-Director Adrian Molina and Producer Darla K....

The show will bring warmth to your soul and a smile to your face. I had my sister join me in celebration of her recent birthday, and I certainly scored good sister points. Just seeing her dance, sing, clap, and smile during the show warmed my heart. The real fun came when the gospel singers invited those celebrating a birthday or an anniversary on to the stage. Everyone danced, the room was filled with enormous energy while the audience stood clapping, singing and capturing photos of friends and...
