Holidays at The Laguna Playhouse: Beauty and the Beast A Christmas Rose

Posted by on Dec 10, 2018 in Disney, Entertainment, Theatre | 0 comments

We visited as a guest of the venue Going to local theaters in Orange County is always something I love to do… especially at Laguna Playhouse. I have seen a few shows at Laguna Playhouse before and every single one of them I loved! When I found out that I was able to attend this year’s show, Beauty and the Beast the Christmas Rose, I was so happy. Now, all of the shows I have seen at Laguna Playhouse have been panto’s. A panto is an interactive show where they talk to the crowd and try to get you to participate in every way possible. I love these types of shows because it feels as if you are in the show yourself. This year’s show was Beauty and the Beast A Christmas Rose, and it was the perfect twist...

I’ll Be Next Door for Christmas: Interview with Juliette Angelo

Posted by on Dec 10, 2018 in Christmas, Entertainment, Film, Holiday | 0 comments

Sponsored With Christmas just around the corner the movie, I’ll be Next Door for Christmas, needs to be on your Christmas watch list. If you are not convinced enough that you need to watch it allow me to convince you some more by sharing some insight on one of the leading actresses mindset when making the film. I had the honor of having an email interview with the star of the movie, Juliette Angelo. I started out by asking her if she could relate to the Christmas hating character she was, or if any of her family members were like the ones in the movie. She answered with, “I come from a very large, very Italian family who love to go all out for Christmas. Decorations, food, gifts, the works. I can understand what it is like to be...

Teen Review: Holly Star Christmas Movie

Posted by on Dec 9, 2018 in Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

Screener provided Since it doesn’t snow where I live, when Christmas rolls around the closest I can get to snow is watching a Christmas film with snow in it. Lucky for me my mom and I watched a movie where the snow was plentiful, and the story was priceless. Holly Star is the ultimate Christmas movie that has everything you would want. The friendly drama, the falling in love, the mystery, and my favorite…THE SNOW!!! The movie is about a young puppeteer who loses her job and goes up to live with her parents for the holidays. There she slips on snow and has visions of Santa Claus burying a bag, and she is determined to find this bag. Along the way she reconnects with the boy she knew and strengths her friendships with the people around her. If...

We attended as a guest of Sony Recently I got to go up to Los Angeles with my two brothers and my mom to watch the new Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse film and attend the world premiere. Spiderman is one of my favorite superheroes, and I have watched almost all of the movies with my comic book loving older brother, so when I realized we were going to the world premiere, we were all so excited! We all put on our fancy red and blue cloths for Spiderman and headed off to LA. When we arrived, we parked and walked into the beautiful theater. Inside the theater, we saw some people we knew from some of our favorite TV shows like Madelaine Petsch from Riverdale. After we got our drinks and popcorn, we went to take a seat in...

Family Movie Night: I’ll Be Next Door for Christmas

Posted by on Dec 5, 2018 in Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

Movie kit provided One of our favorite things to do during the holiday season is to sit in front of the fire and enjoy a family movie night. Holiday films are our favorite kind of films, and we recently fell in love with the all-new holiday movie, “I’ll Be Next Door for Christmas.” It is a hilarious family-friendly film that we digitally downloaded to enjoy for many years to come. Before watching the movie, we hung our Christmas lights on the front of the house and then sipped on a warm cup of hot cocoa. Once the last marshmallow in our hot cocoa was gone, we popped some popcorn and got ready to enjoy the movie. The movie reminds me a lot about my family, as we always go all out for the holidays — the more lights on...

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse Review

Posted by on Dec 5, 2018 in Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

We attended an event as a guest of Sony “With Great Power, Comes Great Responsibility”. You don’t need to be a Spidey fanatic to know those timeless words. Ever since early days of Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, those very first adventures with Spider-Man in Amazing Fantasy, something stuck with us and never failed to impress or inspire. Spider-Man speaks to us all, and through the countless adventures in comic books, video games, and film series, we are still barely discovering the true power and significance of what Lee and Ditko started all those years ago. It’s more than a superhero story, and something that the new film, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse takes to heart in ways you can’t possibly imagine. The film is the “ultimate” game changer, breaking the mold in every category in “amazing” and “spectacular” ways....

Beyond Spider-Man, the Power of Family and Inclusion in Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse

Posted by on Dec 3, 2018 in Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

We attended the interview as a guest of Sony When you see the name Spider-Man, you assume you know the full story: A radioactive spider bites Peter Parker, he flies across the buildings of New York City, and he saves the day from baddies like Green Goblin and Doc Ock time and time again with witty and spectacular charm. The new film, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse isn’t that story though, moving away from the classic hero tale we all know. Instead, it opens the door to a more dynamic and diverse universe that dares to take on the mainstream conventions of a superhero film. The cast and crew of the movie, just coming off completion of the final film edits less than two weeks ago, couldn’t wait to share their thoughts on the new picture. It all started with...

Review copy received When the holiday season rolls around one of the first things I do is look for a new holiday movie that I will love. Don’t get me wrong, I love the classic films, but looking for new ones can be quite an adventure. Luckily, this year, I found my new favorite Christmas movie early this year. My mom and I watched I’ll be Next Door for Christmas, and I automatically knew that this was going to be the movie I want to watch for the rest of the holiday season, and next years too! When it comes to the holiday’s everyone loved a little teen holiday drama, and this filmed captured the equality of sappy drama and the warmth of Christmas entirely. The film had me on my seat the entire time wondering what was going...

Teen Review: Ralph Breaks the Internet

I attended a preview as a guest of Disney When the first Wreck-It Ralph came to theaters, I absolutely loved it! My dad and I fell in love with the movie and all the cute and fun characters. We have been waiting for Ralph Breaks the Internet for a long while, and I couldn’t wait to watch the film, so when my mom told me that we were going to go see an early screener in LA, I was counting down the days until I could see the new film. When I sat down to watch the movie the first thing I thought about was all of the trailers I had watched before seeing the film and thinking back to what I was about to watch on the big screen. I gave my brain a quick refresher, and then...

I attended the event as a guest of Disney In anticipation of the upcoming film, Ralph Breaks the Internet, coming out in theaters on Friday, I went to Los Angeles earlier this month to talk with the cast about the making of the film. When the cast of Ralph Breaks the Internet walked into the room, everyone cheered with excitement. We started by talking about how the last film took place six years ago, and everything seemed to have ended really great for Ralph and Vanellope, so why make another film? Rich Moore (Director) said, “We looked at the very last line of the first movie where Ralph says, after going friendless for the whole movie and then finally making a friend. He’s back home and says, ‘if that little kid likes me, how bad can I be?’ And...

But just like in life, every ending is a new beginning. Woody now being in a new room, with new toys, and a new kid, was something we have never seen before. The questions of what that would be like became the beginning of an entertaining story worth exploring.” A teaser trailer slated to debut with “Ralph Breaks the Internet,” in theaters Nov. 21, is available today. There is one thing that my family all has in common, and that is a love for entertainment. Unfortunately, the cost of cable television is something that is beyond the financial reach of many families, not allowing them to enjoy great entertainment together as a family. Since I travel a lot, and we are rarely home, I recently disconnected our home cable service. I have been researching different options to be still able to provide entertainment in our household and recently discovered at Best Buy the Google Chromecast Streaming Media Player. With the new device, our family can watch movies, shows, live TV, YouTube (my kids...

Why Parents Need to Take Their Teens to See Beautiful: The Carole King Musical

Posted by on Oct 11, 2018 in Entertainment, Theatre | 0 comments

We attended the event as a guest of the venue Before going to see the musical Beautiful: The Carole King Musical. There were two things on my mind. #1 Who the heck is Carole King and #2 Why have I never heard of her before? I didn’t really want to research because I wanted to have that element of surprise added to the show. Let me tell you…The element of surprise did not disappoint. When the curtain opened, I could almost immediately tell that the show was based in the 1940’s – 60’s because of the outfits that were shown in the first few acts. Another thing I noticed was that I was the one of the only people under the age of 65 in the audience. I thought to myself, “this can’t be right, it’s the Segerstrom!” As...

Eighth Grade Teen Movie Night

Sponsored Eighth grade, I’m not going to lie, was a pretty stressful year. Thinking about high school and trying to get good grades and go through your last year of middle school. Now that I am in ninth grade I am looking back and telling myself I stressed myself out way too much. With the new film, Eighth Grade, I find myself looking back and realizing that I can relate to so many of the feelings that were shown in the film. When I watched the movie, the first thing I thought was, ” Oh my Gosh, this is so relatable.” Everything from the trends to the clothing worn was everything that was happening in real life at the time. Some of the trends are even still happening to this day. Even my brothers who are in 11th and...

Sponsored Halloween is right around the corner and what better way to start it off than with a Hotel Transylvania movie night! I have watched all the movies for Hotel Transylvania plus the episodes in the series, so I couldn’t wait to watch this film with my family. Before watching it though we had to create the mood by having a spooky movie night. My brothers and I started it off by putting on some Hotel Transylvania costumes and popped some popcorn. We had so much fun as we were eating popcorn and sharing our favorite characters in the movies. We went over a little recap of the first two films, so we had a small brain refresher. We also watched the trailer for the Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation. After we watched the trailer we had so much...

Mary Lynn Rajskub on Balancing Motherhood and Work

She is a mom who got married young, didn’t finish school, and wants to go back-to-school to finish what she didn’t finish. Her life kinda stinks, and after complaining about her life, she tries to cheer herself up by reminding herself that “she is blessed.” After seeing the film (which is hilarious), I had the honor of talking with Mary Lynn Rajskub about the making of the film, motherhood and second chances. She started by sharing with me how she has a “double life.” She goes out at night to do standup comedy, which can get a little raunchy, and then she gets up in the morning to take her son to school. It is finally fall and sweater weather and who doesn’t love going to the theater in sweaters and jeans. From the minute I sat down with my drink and popcorn in the Irvine Spectrum Theater I knew I was going to love the movie. Last month, I had the honor of talking with the character building team Cory Loftis (production designer), Dave Komorowski (head of characters and technical animation), Renato dos Anjos (head of animation) and Moe El-Ali (crowds supervisor) about the process of creating the inhabitants of the internet: “Netizens” and “Net Users. They knew early on from looking at the artwork the team was working on which showed the way the environment would look – that they were looking at a 3-dimensional space which posed a few challenges for the team. The big difference between this film vs. the first is that most of the film takes place “in” the internet. Now, the internet is not an actual “place” that the creators of the film could visit to recreate for the film, and they had to use their imagination to create the magical world of the internet in Ralph Breaks the Internet. It has been nine years since I last visited my family in London.  We are a close-knit bunch and spend every day together.  The last time we were there my children were 1 and 4 which meant that every day was spent in a park.   My aunt Barbara told us about this enchanting park that she felt the children would love so we headed out to Aldenham Country Park in Hertfordshire to visit the 100 Aker Wood.  Now if that sounds a bit familiar it may be due to a little song that starts off like this: Deep in the hundred acre wood Where Christopher Robin plays, you will find the enchanted neighborhood of Christopher’s childhood days A donkey named Eeyore is his friend. And Kanga and little Roo. There’s Rabbit. and Piglet And there’s Owl But most of...

‘Teen Titans Go! To The Movies’ Teen Review

Posted by on Jul 25, 2018 in Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

Sponsored Ever since the first episode of Teen Titans Go was aired back in 2013, I have been hooked with my brothers. Every morning when we wake up a little bit early for school, my brother will turn the show on, and we will sit and watch it. I guess you could say that I am a Teen Titans Go fan. My brothers and I first heard of the movie when a trailer was played on Cartoon Network. We immediately knew that we wanted to see it. My mom told all of us that we got an early screening and we were all super excited. Not only did we get to see the new film at the Warner Brothers Studios, but we also got to attend a party afterward and take pictures with some of the voice actors. I...

Posted by on Jul 24, 2018 in Cool Places, Dining, Entertainment, Music | 0 comments

We visited as a guest of the venue There is something that Orange County has been missing for many years, and that is a nice and clean piano bar. Couples love to go out to watch live music, and we were thrilled to learn that a new piano bar recently opened at The Triangle in Costa Mesa. Once learning about the new piano bar opening, we planned a night out to check out the new date night hot spot. The piano bar is located right on the corner of Th Triangle in Costa Mesa. They checked our ID at the door, and we entered the snazzy location. There is the main bar along one wall, multiple tables in the center of the piano bar and reserved group seating along the other wall. Since we were visiting with other couples,...

The unveiling of the new work—the latest in a longstanding series of Mickey birthday portraits—took place during the panel “Celebrating 90 Years of Mickey Mouse with D23: The Official Disney Fan Club.” Since his big-screen debut in Steamboat Willie on November 18, 1928, Mickey has been the global ambassador for The Walt Disney Company. From the beloved Mickey Mouse Club to today’s Mickey Mouse cartoon shorts, Mickey’s optimistic outlook and endearing personality continue to delight fans around the world every day. Teen Titans Go! To the Movies Voice Recording

Posted by on Jul 23, 2018 in Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

Sponsored Teen Titans Go is one of my teenager’s favorite television shows. When he found out that they were making a feature film, he couldn’t wait to see it. You can imagine his surprise when he found out that he would be attending an advance screening of the film, and got the unique opportunity to voice over for one of his favorite characters, Beast Boy. We arrived at the Warner Brothers Studio lot, and there was a red carpet that led into the theater. Press lined the carpet taking pictures of all the guests arriving at the premiere. My kids were overwhelmed with excitement as we entered the theater where we would take our seats to be one of the first to see the feature film, “Teen Titans Go! To The Movies.” The movie was hilarious, and my children...

Ant-Man and The Wasp Teen Review

Posted by on Jul 6, 2018 in Disney, Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

I attended a screening as a guest of Disney When the first Ant-Man movie came out, my brothers and I were so excited for a new Marvel character that we already knew we were going to love it. I watched it for the first time and immediately fell in love with the ant-sized superhero. When I started seeing the previews for Ant-Man and The Wasp I was so excited to see where the old movie left off. There are three reasons why I enjoyed this sequel so much. Number 1: The movie is so close to reality that it was so easy to understand and fun to watch. Most other superhero movies take place in a completely different setting than the modern world, so it’s effortless to connect with the things that are happening in the film. A majority...

Talking with the Cast of Ant-Man and The Wasp

Posted by on Jul 2, 2018 in Disney, Entertainment, Film | 1 comment

We attended the event as a guest of Disney Ant-Man and the Wasp is a fantastic sequel to the first Ant-Man movie and a must-see for all parents and children. I recently had the privilege of going to Pasadena and speaking with the cast of the new film, and I can assure you they had a lot of fun things to say. One of my favorite features of the movie was all the comedy and how much I laughed during the film. Even during the serious parts someone almost always said something to lighten the mood. The cast made me laugh once more when Evangeline Lilly (The Wasp) said about Paul Rudd (Ant-Man) who helped write the script, “His best lines in the movie are not on the script.” Knowing that not all of the comedic lines weren’t scripted...

It’s All About Girl Power in The Incredibles 2

I attended the interview as a guest of Disney The Incredibles is one of my kids all-time favorite animated feature films. When my teenagers (who were toddlers when the original film was released) found out that they were making The Incredibles 2, they couldn’t wait until the day it would be released into theaters. I had the honor of taking them to an early screening of the film, and they loved it even more than the first film. The next day, I got to sit down with the cast and talk about the making of the film. All of the characters in The Incredibles 2 have such distinguished voices. Hearing the voices of my favorite characters come out of someone other than “The Incredibles” threw me off a bit. I have interviewed celebrities who have done voice over work...

Deric McCabe Shines in A Wrinkle in Time

We attended the interview as a guest of Disney One of my favorite movies of the year has been “A Wrinkle in Time.” I loved the lighting, the acting, and the message behind the story. While in Los Angeles last month, I had an opportunity to sit down and talk with one of the stars of the film, Deric McCabe. If you aren’t familiar with McCabe, he is a hilarious young boy who plays the role of Charles Wallace Murry in the movie. The minute that I entered the room, McCabe offered to show us some of his talents and did a couple of cartwheels around the room. The young actor is vivacious, full of energy, and he made every minute of the interview so much fun. Once he took his seat and we got started talking about the...

I have taken her to the theatre many times in the past but had yet to take her to experience her first concert. Knowing that Poison was one of her favorite bands when I heard that they were coming to Irvine to perform at the FivePoint Amphitheatre, I couldn’t wait to get tickets to surprise her with a fun mother and daughter night out. The night of the concert, we got all dressed up and drove over to the concert venue for an unforgettable night full of fun and rockin’ music. One of the best things about seeing a concert at the FivePoint Amphitheatre is taking advantage of the Mercury Insurance...

Exclusive Inside Look into the Walt Disney Animation Research Library

We visited as a guest of Disney One of the best-kept secrets of the Walt Disney Company is the Walt Disney Animation Research Library. While in Los Angeles earlier this month celebrating the upcoming release of Peter Pan on Movies Anywhere and Multi-Screen Edition: Blu-ray™ + Digital I got the honor of visiting the Walt Disney Animation Research Library. Before being invited to visit the Animation Research Library, I never even knew that it existed. As we entered the building, we had to turn off the geolocation on our phones so that the location will not be leaked out to the public. We were then advised to put all our bags in a conference room in the lobby, and we weren’t allowed to bring anything with us into the research library, even pens. The minute that we walked through...

We visited as a guest of Disney While visiting the Walt Disney Studios lot earlier this month, I embarked on an unforgettable scavenger hunt around the studios, and then had the honor of touring Walt Disney’s office. It has been a long time dream of mine to go into his office, and I was immersed in the magic of Disney while walking in Walt’s footsteps. Everything in Walt Disney’s office has been placed and preserved precisely how it was when he was alive, and I felt like Walt was right there with us while walking around his office. Since his office isn’t open to the public, I took as many photos as possible to give all of you an inside look into what his office looked like when he was alive. Enjoy this magical photo tour, and experience the...

I visited as a guest of Disney I have visited the Walt Disney Studios many times in the past, and my recent trip was one of my all-time favorites. I was visiting to experience a private tour of Walt Disney’s office and embark on a magical adventure of doing a Peter Pan scavenger hunt around Walt Disney Studios. The Walt Disney Studios is one of the most creative environments I have ever visited and a place where nobody would question a group of five women running around with Peter Pan hats on. For the scavenger hunt, we were all divided into groups of five, and I got to be on team Peter Pan. We were then given a series of envelopes filled with creative clues. We got extra points if we found the hidden Peter Pan shadows around the...

Woody Harrelson: Solo: A Star Wars Story

We attended the interview as a guest of Disney Woody Harrelson delivers an epic performance in Solo: A Star Wars Story as Tobias Beckett. While in Los Angeles earlier this month, I had the honor of meeting Harrelson and getting to talk about what it was like working on the film, and how he lives a healthy lifestyle. Harrelson got involved in the film by being in London while shooting a movie that he wrote and directed, “Lost in London.” He was going to head home, but Phil and Chris wanted to meet with him, so he made arrangements to talk. He was worried that his family would be tired of saying that he was ‘done’ after his last film, but he met with them anyway, and like with Hunger Games, he declined initially – but as we all...

We attended the interview as a guest of Disney One of my favorite characters in Solo: A Star Wars Story is the all-new droid L3-37 played by the talented Phoebe Waller-Bridge. While in Los Angeles earlier this month, I had the honor of meeting with Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and got to talk to her about what it was like being a droid in the new hit film. Before meeting with Phoebe Waller-Bridge, I had heard that she didn’t know very much about Star Wars before being cast for the film. When asking her about it, she said, “I did know about Star Wars, but I hadn’t seen any of the films. I think there’s like, five of us in the world.” She continued to share with us that she felt like it worked in her favor. “I was very loose...

Joonas Suotamo: The Face Behind the Fur

We attended the interview as a guest of Disney When you think of Chewbacca, what comes to mind? A warm cuddly creature from the world of Star Wars? But, there is a human behind all that fur and kindness, and in Solo: A Star Wars Story, it is Joonas Suotamo. Every little boy dreams of being Chewbacca, my boys especially, so when I told them I was going to meet the man, the myth, the legend, behind Chewbacca in Solo: A Star Wars Story….they almost fainted. The one thing that stood out to me about Joonas Suotamo is that he is not your traditional actor. When looking for someone to play the part of Chewbacca, they apparently needed someone tall, so the director seemed to our local pro basketball teams to find. “I got the role out of the...

Solo: A Star Wars Story: Paul Bettany

We attended the interview as a guest of Disney While in Los Angeles interviewing the cast of Solo: A Star Wars Story there was one actor that clearly stood out from all the rest, and that was Paul Bettany. One of my colleagues had fallen and was on crutches, as many of you know, we always take a group photo, and Paul Bettany was the only one of the actors who offered his seat (the only seat) to my friend. When he did that, he immediately became my favorite actor in the film. Not only is Paul Bettany a great guy in real life, but he also steals the show with his epic performance in Solo: A Star Wars Story. Star Wars was a big part of Paul Bettany life growing up, and he was beyond thrilled to be...

Ron Howard on Solo: A Star Wars Story

Posted by on May 21, 2018 in Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

We attended the interview as a guest of Disney One of the best things about the all-new Star Wars film Solo: A Star Wars Story is that the highly acclaimed Ron Howard directs it. I had the honor of getting to spend some time with Ron Howard talking about the making of the film while in Los Angeles last week. For being such a talented director, the one thing that makes Ron Howard so unique is how down to earth and relatable he is. Like with any Star Wars film, there was a lot of responsibility on everyone who worked on the film, especially Ron Howard. For Ron Howard, it was the pressure of making sure Alden Ehrenreich (Han Solo) would deliver the performance that would “wow” Star Wars fans. Howard knew that there was already some judgment surrounding...
