Disney-Pixar’s COCO: A Story about Family & Culture

Posted by on Sep 19, 2017 in Disney, Entertainment, Featured, Film | 0 comments

We attended a press preview as a guest of Disney Disney-Pixar’s COCO is a beautiful film that will immerse families in the Mexican culture as it tells the story behind the meaning of Día de los Muertos. The story is about a boy who is stuck between two worlds and is also a story about what it means to be a family. Before starting to work on the film, the filmmakers started with research. They made many trips to Mexico during Día de los Muertos to learn how the different regions embrace the cultural event. During Día de los Muertos, the souls of the dead are invited back to the land of the living. It is a grand family reunion where families are joyful, and get out into the streets, a beautiful tradition. The filmmakers used the traditions to...

We visited as a guest of Fox In celebration of the recent release of “Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie” on digital download and its upcoming release on Blu-ray and DVD on September 12th we attended an epic party in Los Angeles over the weekend. The event was held at one of the coolest venues in Downtown Los Angeles. The building was covered with beautiful street art and was once a toy manufacturing building. Inside, the entire building was transformed into the world of Captain Underpants. When we first walked into the building, we were invited to take some fun photos in the photo booth. My kids made some boomerangs and took a lot of pictures with the characters from the film. Then it was time for lunch. The lunch buffet featured spaghetti and meatball sliders, BLT toast, chicken...

Special Message to my kids from Ernie Sabella aka Pumbaa

Posted by on Sep 6, 2017 in Disney, Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

I visited as a guest of Disney I have had the honor of meeting many Disney legends over the years, but I had the most magical experience when meeting Ernie Sabella last month at Walt Disney World. Who is Ernie Sabella? He is not only one of the most talented actors in Hollywood, but also the voice of the beloved Pumbaa in the movie The Lion King. Normally, when I meet a celebrity at a media event, I usually get a photo opportunity and time to ask them some questions about the film they are currently promoting. It was very different when I first met Ernie Sabella. It was the first night that I had arrived at Walt Disney World, and I went to a special Lion King themed dinner that Sabella was attending. When I approached Ernie Sabella...

What Happened to the Baby Snow Leopards in Born in China

Posted by on Sep 4, 2017 in Disney, Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

I attended the interview as a guest of Disney The beautiful Disneynature film Born in China has been released recently on Blu-ray and digital download. While I was at Disney World last month, I had the extreme honor of talking with the creative genius behind the film Born in China, Roy Conli. Conli is well-known for his work on Big Hero 6, Tangled, and Born in China was his first time working on a Disneynature film. Everyone who sees the film is captivated by the story of the snow leopards. The beautiful animals live in a place where many humans could never survive, and the story that we followed in the movie exposed my children to how the snow leopards survive in their harsh climate. Since the movie has already been released in theaters and Blu-ray, many already know...

Sponsored The Lion King is my favorite Disney movie ever created. I feel that once people see the Lion King, they will fall in love with just like I did. Now that I am a teenager, all of my friends want to watch the latest movie release, but I feel that we should also relive our love for childhood classics like the Lion King. Recently, I saw the Lion King for the first time as a teenager with my friends during a backyard movie night, and it was like seeing it for the first time. These are my three reasons why teenagers should watch the Lion King. The music. Almost every teenager loves music, and the Lion King has the best music ever. If you are like me and value music most when it comes to movies, then this...

How to Have and Epic Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Movie Night

Posted by on Aug 28, 2017 in Disney, Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

Sponsored The time has finally come for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 to be released on blu-ray and digital download with Disney Movies Anywhere. The movie is one of my kids all time favorites, and when it was released on blu-ray, I immediately got a copy of the film to add to our home movie collection. In celebration of the film release, I invited some of my kid’s friends over to our home for an epic Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 backyard movie night. I wanted the food to be themed after the film, but I didn’t have a lot of time to make themed dishes for the evening. Instead of making foods, I found food in our grocery store that was “space themed.” I got Sun Chips, Starburst, Milky Way, Eclipse gum, and Sunkist soda. When...

COCO tells children the story of what Día de los Muertos means

Posted by on Aug 28, 2017 in Disney, Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

I attended the interview as a guest of Disney Most of you who have been following my journeys over the past couple of years know, I have a love for the country of Mexico. I first started spending time in the country so that I could immerse my adopted son into the culture of his biological father, but as I spent time in the country, it became more than that to our family. Our family spends every possible moment that we have in the beautiful country, learning about the culture, enjoying delicious cuisine, and making lifelong friends. We don’t visit the country to stay and play at plush resorts, but to explore and learn about the culture. We’ve already made over ten trips to Mexico this year with more plans to return before the end of the year. There...

Disney’s Animal Conservationist Anne Savage

Posted by on Aug 24, 2017 in Disney, Entertainment, Film, Walt Disney World | 0 comments

We visited as a guest of Disney While I was in Florida learning about Disney’s The Lion King and Born and China, I went to have breakfast with one of the world’s top conservationist Anne Savage. I was very busy leading up to the trip, and while I had a chance to read her extensive bio, I didn’t have an opportunity to look up her photo online. While I was enjoying breakfast with the group I was traveling with, the sweetest woman came over to the table and started to talk to us about Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and that was when it hit me – she was Anne Savage! The interview was unlike any other I had experienced before and was more about conversation vs. a Q&A. Anne Savage is an incredible conservationist who has done so much work...

We visited as a guest of the venue One of my favorite things to do when I’m in the San Francisco area is to visit the Walt Disney Family Museum. When I went to visit Pixar Animation Studios to learn about the upcoming film COCO, I made a stop at the museum before flying home. One exhibit at the museum that captivated me was Deja View: The Art of Andreas Deja. Before exploring the exhibit at the Walt Disney Family Museum, I didn’t know a lot about Andreas Deja. I quickly learned that he is one of the most highly acclaimed animators of all-time and is known for his work on bringing Scar in The Lion King to life. While I was looking around the exhibit and admiring his work, there were drawings of lions that didn’t look familiar...

Best Teen Summer Movie: Descendants 2

Posted by on Aug 14, 2017 in Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

We received a copy of the film The first Descendants movie was my favorite Disney Channel original movie ever, and that is coming from a girl who has grown up watching the Disney Channel. I watched Descendants over and over again when it first came out, and when I heard that they were making Descendants 2, I was thrilled. Descendants 2 was everything I had hoped it would be. It has fantastic music, a lot of action, and awesome plot-twists. While I was waiting for the summer day to come when Descendants 2 would arrive, I read the book at least three times. The Return to the Isle of the Lost really gives you some prior knowledge of the movie. I loved the book almost as much as I enjoyed the film. When July 21 finally was here, I...

We attended as guests Disney’s The Lion King Sing Along at The Greek Theater in Los Angeles, California. The Greek Theater is located in the beautiful Los Angeles hills of Griffith Park. Our family was so excited to see this Disney Classic and sing all of the songs you know and love from The Lion King as we watched the movie at The Greek Theater. As we entered the venue, we were greeted and took our photo with Rafiki in the Cubs’ Corner. Here the kids snacked on chicken skewers, fruit, popcorn, and water. You could also get your face painted like The Lion King himself. From there we headed over to the VIP Fandango Lounge for some food & drinks hosted by Fandango. The Fandango Lounge is a woodsy patio nestled in the trees where we could sit...

Will Arnett explained that making an animated film is definitely a painstaking process for everyone else except the actor!  Will explained that the actors have it easy just doing the voices but for the creative folks who put this amazing film together, work for a long, long time to make the magic happen and when he finally sees the completed film, he is always amazed. I have been fortunate enough to have visited Pixar Animation Studios two times in the past, and they were some of my favorite Disney memories. I’ll have the afternoon to relax at my hotel before meeting with a group of other bloggers attending the trip and ride over to the Pixar Animation Studios. Then it will be time for the best part – screening footage from COCO introduced by Director Lee Unkrich, Writer and Co-Director Adrian Molina and Producer Darla K....

As the release date for the movie got closer, my kids were talking more and more about the movie; more than any other movie before. Then when I got an email inviting us to attend the world premiere of the Emoji Movie in Hollywood, they were running around the house screaming with excitement. The night before the premiere, my kids were so excited that they couldn’t sleep. In the morning, they were up and ready to go bright and early. Five Best Summer Outdoor Movies

We are a member of the Netflix Stream Team One of my favorite things to do with the kids during the summer is to put up a screen in our backyard and stream one of our favorite Netflix summer movies. There is something magical about watching outdoor movies under the twinkling stars. Whenever we plan an outdoor summer movie, our kids invite all their friends to come over. The kids start early by setting up their blankets and pillows, so they are comfortable outside during the movie. While the kids are getting set-up, I am busy in the kitchen making special movie themed snacks for the kids to enjoy. You don’t need to have a fancy screen to have an outdoor summer movie. Before purchasing our screen, we would use a giant bed sheet, the side of our house...

DIY Spider-Man Homecoming DisneyBounding

Sponsored One of my daughter’s favorite ways to spend the day at the Disneyland Resort is to Disney Bound her favorite Disney characters. What is DisneyBounding? It is where you take regular clothes that look like a Disney character, and is an excellent way to unleash your fashion creativity. While I was in New York City for the Spider-Man Homecoming press event, I was given a fun challenge of creating a Spider-Man Homecoming themed costume using clothes purchased from the local Goodwill. The biggest part of the challenge was that I was in a smaller Goodwill store with about 20 other bloggers on the same mission, and we couldn’t spend more than $25, and only had 20 minutes to find items to create a costume. I knew that I wanted to create DisneyBounding costume for my daughter, but I...

The next morning, I woke up in my hotel room and had to pinch myself because I couldn’t believe that I was going to meet the cast of Spider-Man Homecoming later that morning. I wasn’t the only one who felt like I was living a dream come true, but the cast also felt the same way about being a part of the best Marvel film ever made, Spider-Man Homecoming. The film all started with lunch between Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal. “I can’t believe we are here now. It is pretty exciting,” said Pascal....
