The Star Movie Teen Film Review

Posted by on Nov 17, 2017 in Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

We attended the screening as a guest of the studio Ever since I was a little kid, I have heard the story of the first Christmas and the birth of Jesus. From my beginner’s bible to my pocket bible I have not only read about, but my family has been telling me the story ever since I was a little girl. There has never been an animated film in the animal’s perspective based off of the first Christmas. The fact that it has never been done before just makes me want to see it even more, so I was super excited about this film. Throughout the entire movie, my brother and I were laughing about the funny ones that some of the animals made and the fact that the animals would try to talk to the humans, but they...

Wonder Movie Teen Film Review

Posted by on Nov 17, 2017 in Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

We attended the screening as a guest of the studio The book Wonder by R.J Palacio has been my favorite book ever since I was old enough to read. I found out they were making a movie based on the book Wonder a couple of months ago and I started counting down the days. Wonder has such a unique and touching story, and I couldn’t wait to see how they put it into a film. When the film began to start, I was immediately struck by how realistic the whole thing was. It was like the words from the book had been put on a giant movie screen. Even though I had read the book before, it was like seeing the story in a whole new way. Being able actually to see what everyone and everything look like gives...

The World Premiere of The Star Movie

Posted by on Nov 16, 2017 in Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

We attended as a guest of the venue It was a magical day in Los Angeles this past Sunday where the beautiful film The Star Movie debuted to the world. All of the top celebrities in Hollywood came out to celebrate the film that tells the Christmas story in a whole new way – through the eyes of the animals. When we arrived at the premiere, there were multiple activities for the children to do. There was a ring toss, hot dog on a stick, and other fun treats. My children had a blast enjoying all the different activities until it came time for the stars of the film to arrive. The ‘white’ carpet was buzzing with celebrities from the film and others who came out to support the film. Our children took pictures with some of their favorite...

We attended as a guest of the studio The highly anticipated time has come for the beloved ‘Wonder’ the #1 New York Times bestselling middle-grade novel by R.J. Palacio to come to life in theaters everywhere in The Wonder Movie. Wonder is a book that my two older children loved reading and encouraged them to want to spread more kindness and compassion in our world. When I found out that they were making a film based on the book, I couldn’t wait to bring my children to see it. Last night, I had the honor of being invited to bring my daughter with me to Los Angeles for the World Premiere of The Wonder Movie. I surprised my daughter with the news that she was going with me to the premiere when I picked her up from school. I...

The 22-minute story features 40 new songs and is a beautiful story about holiday traditions. Earlier in the month, I went to the Walt Disney Animation Studios to learn more about the short film and to talk with the Producer Roy Conli, Directors Stevie Wermers-Skelton & Kevin Deters, and the voice of Olaf Josh Gad. Before screening the short film, Stevie Wermers-Skelton shared with us that the story is about traditions. Epic Family Night Out at the Hollywood Bowl

Posted by on Nov 14, 2017 in Cool Places, Entertainment, Family, Film, Music | 0 comments

We visited as a guest of the venue One of my parent’s favorite things to do when I was a child was to have a date night at the Hollywood Bowl. I always thought that my husband and I would follow in their footsteps, but life gets busy when raising three children, and it finally worked out with our schedule to make our first visit to the Hollywood Bowl this past weekend. While I thought my first visit to the Hollywood Bowl would be a date night, we ended up bringing the kids for an unforgettable night under the stars for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. We got box tickets (which I highly recommend when coming with young children). We left early and planned to arrive right when the gates opened, which again, I recommend doing when bringing your...

Action Meets Comedy in Thor: Ragnarok

Posted by on Nov 3, 2017 in Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

We attended a screening as a guest of Disney My two boys eat, sleep and dream superheroes. While raising my boys, they have passed their love of action and adventure onto me, who now also enjoys a great superhero movie. Whenever a new Marvel film comes out, my boys are counting down the days until they will have a chance to see the films, and this was the case with Thor: Ragnarok. When I got an invitation to take my teenage son to the Thor: Ragnarok premiere, I expected the film to be full of action, but I was pleasantly surprised when I found out that the film had the most amount of comedy than any other Marvel film. After all, it is the comedy that makes their films so enjoyable to watch. While watching Thor: Ragnarok my son...

The Creation of Thor: Ragnarok

Posted by on Nov 1, 2017 in Disney, Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

After attending the premiere of Thor: Ragnarok, I had the honor of attending a press conference with the talented actors and creators of Thor: Ragnarok. The cast in the film Thor: Ragnarok has perfect chemistry as they worked hard to create one of the best Marvel films ever made. When I entered the room at the Montage in Beverly Hills, I took my seat in the front row and anxiously anticipated the arrival of the cast. As the moderator began to announce the names of the cast and they entered the room, all of the press started to clap and cheer. Once your family sees the film, you will notice that Thor is unlike any other superhero. Chris Hemsworth commented on this fact by saying, “I think we all had a vision and an idea. We wanted to...

Hotel Transylvania Family Movie Night

Posted by on Oct 30, 2017 in Crafts, Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

Sponsored One of our favorite things to do together as a family is to have movie nights. We will come together as a family, enjoy tasty food and stream our favorite movies while creating memories that will last a lifetime together. When I learned about the all-new app Movies Anywhere, I thought it was a great idea to plan a ‘Halloween-themed’ movie night and downloaded Hotel Transylvania on the app. My favorite part of our family movie nights is creating food that is themed after the movie. Since I knew that we were going to be watching Hotel Transylvania, I thought of some fun vampire and bat-themed foods to serve. For our drinks, I made a spooky fruit punch and served the drink in science beakers. I made a little bit of smoke in the drinks with dry ice...

The breed of dogs is named after an Aztec God. They are ancient dogs who are native to Mexico and Central America. They safeguard the home from evil spirits and intruders, and they are also said to have healing powers because the heat from their body was used to cure arthritis. These dogs have also served as guides to the dead as they transition from this world into the next. When creating Dante, they started by making some sketches to figure out his design and character. The next step, they would make a sculpture. They made the sculptures of Dante and Miguel together so they could look at the...

We attended as a guest of Disney Our family is so fortunate to have the opportunity to experience many amazing things. As my son has become a teenager, it is hard to find things to do with him that truly gets him excited about. I was able to find the one thing to make him happier than I’ve ever seen him in his life, so happy that he cried multiple times throughout the night because he was overwhelmed with emotion, and that was the night that I took him to the Thor: Ragnarok World Premiere. The day before the premiere, I surprised him with the news that he was going to get to leave school early and come with me to the premiere. He was so happy that he kept hugging me throughout the night, and thanking me for...

We visited Pixar as a guest of Disney The Disney-Pixar movie COCO is coming out in theaters on November 22nd. The movie is about family, culture, and music. It tells a story about the true meaning of Día de los Muertos. In the film, skeletons play a significant role, and while I was at Pixar Animation Studios learning about the film, I was fascinated by how they were able to give the skeletons life in the film. Designing the Skeletons Daniel Arriaga, Character Art Director, shared with us that it all started with research. They studied the skull and skeleton to find a way that they could make it appealing. They did sketches to see how they could give them character and adjusted the clothing. The next step was to make them into sculptures. By doing this, it allowed...

Goodbye Christopher Robin: A Spellbinding Film

Posted by on Oct 2, 2017 in Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

Sponsored As I sank into my theatre chair at Fox Studio and watched the film Goodbye Christopher Robin, I was touched by the many raw, ‘heart awakening’ moments. Every moment in the film had such depth and mile wide discovery. “Goodbye Christopher Robin gives a rare glimpse into the relationship between beloved children’s author A.A. Milne and his son Christopher Robin who’s stuffed animals/toys inspire the magical world of Winnie the Pooh. Along with his mother, Daphne (Margot Robbie) and his nanny Olive (Kelly Mac Donald), Christopher Robin and his family are swept up in the international success of the books; the enchanting tales were bringing hope and comfort to England after the First World War. But, with the eyes of the world on Christopher Robin, what will the cost be to the family?” Simon Curtis and playwrights Frank...

We attended as a guest of the venue Sail Ho!….there is a ship yonder, a SHIP, I tell you…shiver me timbers….it looks to be…..what…it CAN’T be….the Black Pearl?! “This is either madness or brilliance, and it’s remarkable how often these two traits coincide,” craftily said by Jack Sparrow. YES, it is the one and only Black Pearl! To our amazement, Disney has done it again. They’ve managed to bring the unthinkable to our entertainment fingertips. Announcing the exciting release of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales on DVD and Blu-ray on October 3rd. Disney sprinkled this release with magic by bringing the Black Pearl to Santa Monica Beach last week. Much to our astonishment, the creators of Disney had secretly overnighted, this massive cargo load of a ship to this beach destination and dropped it off...

The morning of the event, I loaded up our Kia Sorento with our suitcases and then picked him up early from school. I didn’t tell him where we were going, and it wasn’t until I pulled into the valet at the LEGOLAND Hotel that he realized we were going to LEGOLAND California. He squealed with delight, got out of the car and ran into the resort to start playing in their giant pirate ship LEGO play area. Little did he know that we were going to be staying the night, and getting...

We attended a press preview as a guest of Disney Disney-Pixar’s COCO is a beautiful film that will immerse families in the Mexican culture as it tells the story behind the meaning of Día de los Muertos. The story is about a boy who is stuck between two worlds and is also a story about what it means to be a family. Before starting to work on the film, the filmmakers started with research. They made many trips to Mexico during Día de los Muertos to learn how the different regions embrace the cultural event. It is a grand family reunion where families are joyful, and get out into the streets, a beautiful tradition. The filmmakers used the traditions to...

Special Message to my kids from Ernie Sabella aka Pumbaa

Posted by on Sep 6, 2017 in Disney, Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

I visited as a guest of Disney I have had the honor of meeting many Disney legends over the years, but I had the most magical experience when meeting Ernie Sabella last month at Walt Disney World. Who is Ernie Sabella? He is not only one of the most talented actors in Hollywood, but also the voice of the beloved Pumbaa in the movie The Lion King. Normally, when I meet a celebrity at a media event, I usually get a photo opportunity and time to ask them some questions about the film they are currently promoting. It was very different when I first met Ernie Sabella. It was the first night that I had arrived at Walt Disney World, and I went to a special Lion King themed dinner that Sabella was attending. When I approached Ernie Sabella...
