Four Things Kids will Learn from The Lion Guard: The Rise Of Scar

Posted by on Jan 10, 2018 in Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

Sponsored The Lion King is one of my favorite Disney movies of all-time, so naturally, I instantly became a fan of the Disney Junior series The Lion Guard. When I learned about an all-new movie, “The Lion King: The Rise of Scar” being released on DVD, I couldn’t wait to get it and watch it with my younger son. The film is one of my favorite Lion Guard stories yet, and my favorite part is all the great lessons that my son took away from the story. He was able to learn about team building, problem-solving, friendship, and leadership skills. The story is centered around the dry season, and all the animals are extra cranky. The hyenas have a plan to try and bring Scar back by stealing Makini (Rafiki’s apprentice) stick and then kidnapping Kiara. The Lion Guard...

Paddington 2: A Story about Kindness and Friendship

Posted by on Jan 9, 2018 in Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

We attended a screening as a guest of the studio From the first moment I watched Paddington, I fell in love with the tiny little bear cub. I absolutely love cute animals (who doesn’t?!?), and Paddington was that, plus he has a great story to tell. From the story to the characters there was nothing you couldn’t love about the cute, kind, and not to mention fluffy bear. When I saw the first commercial for Paddington 2, I was beyond excited to see the film. The first Paddington has my heart, and I didn’t think it could get much better, but it did. The heartwarming story of Paddington and all of the crazy adventures he goes on could keep me entertained for days on end. Paddington has now become my new role model because he always looks for the...

The Greatest Showman: Experiencing the Greatest Show

Posted by on Jan 8, 2018 in Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

We attended a screening as a guest of the studio There are very few movies out there that are cinematic eye dazzling, body moving, tear-worthy masterpieces.  The Greatest Showman is that movie.  From the opening scene to the very end the audience’s attention is caught.  As the opening scene is about to appear you hear voices singing ‘Woah’ over and over for a good 30 seconds, this is the beginning melody from The Greatest Show.  As the melody continues, you see feet stomping on the ground and bleachers, unison to the beat of the song.  Then the voice of Hugh Jackman informs the audience that “Ladies and gents, this is the moment you’ve waited for…”   and he’s completely right this is the moment we have been waiting for, the moment to watch The Greatest Showman.  The movie takes us...

Olaf’s Frozen Adventure Family Movie Night

Posted by on Dec 21, 2017 in Disney, Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

Sponsored One of our favorite family traditions is to sit by the fire, sipping on hot cocoa and watching holiday movies together. With Olaf’s Frozen Adventure being all about family traditions, I planned a recent family holiday movie night for the evening that the movie was digitally released on Movies Anywhere. The night of our movie night, my kids got all dressed in their favorite Christmas pajamas. When my children came downstairs, I had a special box wrapped by the Christmas tree for them to open. Inside of the box were fun items themed after the animated Disney short. There was a small fruitcake (my favorite scene in the film), cookies, a mini Olaf plus, a dreidel, and a card inviting them to watch Olaf’s Frozen Adventure. Our kids were so excited, and it was one of the most...

We attended as a guest of Disney Earlier in the month, I received an invitation to go to an undisclosed location to meet with the cast of the all-new movie Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The invitation was vague and all the details of the time and location would be disclosed to me the night before. I waited with anticipation before finally receiving my secret instructions on where in Los Angeles I would get the opportunity of a lifetime to meet with the cast of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. When I arrived at the hotel, I was directed towards a hidden escalator that would take me to the top floor. There I would check-in with security and then take my seat in the room where the cast would soon arrive. I waited anxiously with anticipation, and then the...

Music in Embedded into the Storytelling of Disney-Pixar’s COCO

We visited Pixar as a guest of Disney In the upcoming Disney-Pixar film, COCO, they wanted the music to be an essential part of the storytelling. In the movie, Miguel wants to claim his destiny and tell his family that he is going to play music, and then everything goes wrong. When creating the music, they looked at it in three different ways: 1. They talked about source music. Ernesto de la Cruz lived in Santo de Cilia, and all the musicians come to pay tribute to him 2. Score. To hold up the emotion of the film. They explored the environment, motivation of the character in the film. 3. Original songs created for the film. They wanted to give the characters performing an iconic voice. Original songs was a great way to do that. They wanted the movie...

The Star Movie Teen Film Review

We attended the screening as a guest of the studio Ever since I was a little kid, I have heard the story of the first Christmas and the birth of Jesus. From my beginner’s bible to my pocket bible I have not only read about, but my family has been telling me the story ever since I was a little girl. There has never been an animated film in the animal’s perspective based off of the first Christmas. The fact that it has never been done before just makes me want to see it even more, so I was super excited about this film. Throughout the entire movie, my brother and I were laughing about the funny ones that some of the animals made and the fact that the animals would try to talk to the humans, but they...

Wonder Movie Teen Film Review

We attended the screening as a guest of the studio The book Wonder by R.J Palacio has been my favorite book ever since I was old enough to read. I found out they were making a movie based on the book Wonder a couple of months ago and I started counting down the days. Wonder has such a unique and touching story, and I couldn’t wait to see how they put it into a film. When the film began to start, I was immediately struck by how realistic the whole thing was. It was like the words from the book had been put on a giant movie screen. Even though I had read the book before, it was like seeing the story in a whole new way. Being able actually to see what everyone and everything look like gives...

Best Teen Summer Movie: Descendants 2

Posted by on Aug 14, 2017 in Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

We received a copy of the film The first Descendants movie was my favorite Disney Channel original movie ever, and that is coming from a girl who has grown up watching the Disney Channel. I watched Descendants over and over again when it first came out, and when I heard that they were making Descendants 2, I was thrilled. Descendants 2 was everything I had hoped it would be. It has fantastic music, a lot of action, and awesome plot-twists. While I was waiting for the summer day to come when Descendants 2 would arrive, I read the book at least three times. The Return to the Isle of the Lost really gives you some prior knowledge of the movie. I loved the book almost as much as I enjoyed the film. When July 21 finally was here, I...

We attended as guests Disney’s The Lion King Sing Along at The Greek Theater in Los Angeles, California. The Greek Theater is located in the beautiful Los Angeles hills of Griffith Park. Our family was so excited to see this Disney Classic and sing all of the songs you know and love from The Lion King as we watched the movie at The Greek Theater. As we entered the venue, we were greeted and took our photo with Rafiki in the Cubs’ Corner. Here the kids snacked on chicken skewers, fruit, popcorn, and water. You could also get your face painted like The Lion King himself. From there we headed over to the VIP Fandango Lounge for some food & drinks hosted by Fandango. The Fandango Lounge is a woodsy patio nestled in the trees where we could sit...

Sponsored One of the most magical places to visit is the Pixar Animation Studios. Earlier this month, I received the invitation of a lifetime to fly to up north to visit the Pixar Animation Studios and to learn more about the upcoming film COCO! I have been fortunate enough to have visited Pixar Animation Studios two times in the past, and they were some of my favorite Disney memories. The fun will begin next week as I board a plane to San Francisco. I’ll have the afternoon to relax at my hotel before meeting with a group of other bloggers attending the trip and ride over to the Pixar Animation Studios. Then it will be time for the best part – screening footage from COCO introduced by Director Lee Unkrich, Writer and Co-Director Adrian Molina and Producer Darla K....

As the release date for the movie got closer, my kids were talking more and more about the movie; more than any other movie before. Then when I got an email inviting us to attend the world premiere of the Emoji Movie in Hollywood, they were running around the house screaming with excitement. The night before the premiere, my kids were so excited that they couldn’t sleep. In the morning, they were up and ready to go bright and early. As I drove our Kia Sorento to Los Angeles, the kids and I talked all about our favorite emoji’s and what part of the movie we were the most excited...

We are a member of the Netflix Stream Team One of my favorite things to do with the kids during the summer is to put up a screen in our backyard and stream one of our favorite Netflix summer movies. There is something magical about watching outdoor movies under the twinkling stars. Whenever we plan an outdoor summer movie, our kids invite all their friends to come over. The kids start early by setting up their blankets and pillows, so they are comfortable outside during the movie. While the kids are getting set-up, I am busy in the kitchen making special movie themed snacks for the kids to enjoy. You don’t need to have a fancy screen to have an outdoor summer movie. Before purchasing our screen, we would use a giant bed sheet, the side of our house...

DIY Spider-Man Homecoming DisneyBounding

Sponsored One of my daughter’s favorite ways to spend the day at the Disneyland Resort is to Disney Bound her favorite Disney characters. What is DisneyBounding? It is where you take regular clothes that look like a Disney character, and is an excellent way to unleash your fashion creativity. While I was in New York City for the Spider-Man Homecoming press event, I was given a fun challenge of creating a Spider-Man Homecoming themed costume using clothes purchased from the local Goodwill. The biggest part of the challenge was that I was in a smaller Goodwill store with about 20 other bloggers on the same mission, and we couldn’t spend more than $25, and only had 20 minutes to find items to create a costume. I knew that I wanted to create DisneyBounding costume for my daughter, but I...

When I learned that Bounty was introducing Despicable Me 3 prints on their paper towels and napkins, I immediately knew that I needed to get some for my kitchen. Having three busy kids in my household, we’re always making messes or spilling things in my kitchen. That is why I need a paper towel that is strong enough to clean-up the biggest messes while using the smallest amount of paper towels to tackle the mess. The first CARS movie is one of my all time favorite Disney-Pixar films, and I didn’t think it could ever be matched until watching CARS 3. When making plans to see the film, I had wanted my youngest son to see it, expecting him to be the target audience like the first two CARS films. Unfortunately, he got invited to a sleepover with some friends, and like most kids – he couldn’t say ‘no’ to his friends. I then told my teenagers that they were going with me instead of my younger son, and I got the typical teenager eye roll. I took my...

Wonderful Wonder Woman is Back

She was amazing, and I always wished that I could be just as amazing as she was.  Sadly the show’s run ended and with that so did our female superhero role model for almost 30 years. I cannot believe it took this long for such a magnificent character to come to the big scene. With our world changing so much, and girl power being in the forefront socially and politically, this was a perfect time to introduce the new generation to Diana, Princess of the Amazons. For those...

Sponsored Disney’s Moana is one of my favorite animation movies of last year. I loved the story, the music, and the message behind the film. It wasn’t just me that loved the film, but also my children. When I found out that we could watch the film before it was released on DVD with Disney Movies Anywhere, I couldn’t wait to download it and start watching it with my children. Ever since downloading it, we have watched it over and over again. We decided to invite some friends over for a fun Moana movie night, and since Pua is my younger son’s favorite character, I made adorable “Pua Cookies.” The cookies were a hit with the children attending our party, and the kids devoured every last crumb of the cookies. I brought them out to the children during one...

Posted by on Feb 10, 2017 in Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

We visited as a guest of Warner Bros Your children are going to fall in love with Batman all over again in theaters starting today when watching The Lego Batman movie. Last week, I took my kids to the Warner Bros studio lot in a cool Chevrolet Cruz Hatchback for a sneak peek at the film, and my kids loved every minute of the movie. Once the theater went dark, and the film began, we were immersed into the world in which Batman lives. We were laughing throughout the entire film, and on the edge of our seats wondering how Batman was going to save Gotham City from his arch enemy, The Joker. My kids got to see a different side of Batman in this movie. He is hilarious, a little egotistical, and has a big heart behind those...

Sponsored Da na na na na na na BATMAN! The highly anticipated time has come for The Lego Batman movie to debut to the world in theaters on July 10th. My son lives, breathes and dreams about legos. When I told him the news that we were going to Los Angeles for the World Premiere of The Lego Batman Movie as a guest of Chevrolet, he squealed with delight. Did you know that the Batmobile is a Chevrolet? That’s right – it sure is! Since Batman drives a Chevrolet, we couldn’t arrive at the premiere driving any other kind of car. The morning of the premiere, we got into our cool blue Chevrolet Cruz Hatchback and cruised down the freeway to the premiere. I downloaded The Lego Batman soundtrack album to my iPhone, plugged my phone into the Chevrolet...

The Magical Disney Vault

We attended as a guest of Disney If you’re a fan of Disney animated films, you already know that they often reference “The Vault.” It’s where the original films and artwork are allegedly kept. I was surprised and delighted to find that it really exists. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, The Disney Vault is real. A nondescript building in Glendale, California houses an amazing collection of Disney animation art dating back to the 1920’s where the storyboard sketches and animation cells are painstakingly preserved in a protected environment. The actual name of this magical place is the Walt Disney Animation Research Library (the ARL). The occasion for this visit was the release of the Walt Disney animation classic, Pinocchio on Blu-ray (available in stores now). The Disney Vaults – there are 11 of them – contain every sketch, every conceptual...

When I was given an advanced copy of the movie “The Light Between Oceans,” I immediately knew it would be the perfect movie for our next in-home date night. Last night, we ordered some Chinese food, and then dimmed the living rooms lights to begin watching “The Light Between Oceans.” The movie was beautifully produced and the story was moving. It is based on the 2012...

As they have grown-up, we have spent many nights watching Star Wars together, and I’ll even dress-up for some imaginary play time with them from time to time. Recently, new Star Wars films have begun coming out, and now our children are starting to have a...

Then I heard her say, “Mom, you missed a call while you were gone, and you got invited to the world premiere of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story!” And then we both started screaming!! Words cannot describe how excited and honored I felt to have been invited to this once...

Along with “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” we also enjoy watching “Frosty the Snowman,” and “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” during the holiday season. The one thing that has been challenging for me in the past was finding the movies to download and watch with our children every year. When I learned that an Anniversary Collection of the three timeless films was being released this year, I jumped at the opportunity to add it to our home...

I was so bummed that it wouldn’t be coming out for a while, but then the very next day, Disney sent me the Moana book! I immediately started reading it, and I fell in love.
