Posted by on May 15, 2018 in Entertainment, Featured, Television Shows | 0 comments

We attended as a guest of Disney While I was pregnant with my youngest son, I was put on bed rest very early on in the pregnancy. Being stuck in bed for 16 weeks, I watched a lot of television, and one of my favorite shows to watch every day was General Hospital. Every afternoon, I would look forward to seeing what was happening in Port Charles. I continued to watch it daily while caring for my baby, but as he got active, I found myself having to record and then watch a week full of episodes during the weekend. Being such a fan of the show, I was thrilled when I was given the opportunity to visit the set of General Hospital. The morning that I was going to be visiting, I was overwhelmed with excitement. I couldn’t...

We attended as a guest of the studio In celebration of the all-new film, Paddington 2, I surprised my kids by taking them to The London West Hollywood for afternoon tea with Paddington. The morning of the event, my kids got dressed in their best clothing and were overwhelmed with excitement about seeing the movie. When we arrived at The London West Hollywood, there was a giant “Paddington” made out of balloons. My youngest son got super excited and insisted that I take his picture with the balloon character. Little did he know, that he was going to get to meet Paddington himself in person a few minutes later. Once everyone had arrived, we were welcomed into the screening room at The London West Hollywood. The kids were invited to get their favorite candy and bucket of popcorn to...

Four Things Kids will Learn from The Lion Guard: The Rise Of Scar

Posted by on Jan 10, 2018 in Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

Sponsored The Lion King is one of my favorite Disney movies of all-time, so naturally, I instantly became a fan of the Disney Junior series The Lion Guard. When I learned about an all-new movie, “The Lion King: The Rise of Scar” being released on DVD, I couldn’t wait to get it and watch it with my younger son. The film is one of my favorite Lion Guard stories yet, and my favorite part is all the great lessons that my son took away from the story. He was able to learn about team building, problem-solving, friendship, and leadership skills. The story is centered around the dry season, and all the animals are extra cranky. The hyenas have a plan to try and bring Scar back by stealing Makini (Rafiki’s apprentice) stick and then kidnapping Kiara. The Lion Guard...

Paddington 2: A Story about Kindness and Friendship

Posted by on Jan 9, 2018 in Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

We attended a screening as a guest of the studio From the first moment I watched Paddington, I fell in love with the tiny little bear cub. I absolutely love cute animals (who doesn’t?!?), and Paddington was that, plus he has a great story to tell. From the story to the characters there was nothing you couldn’t love about the cute, kind, and not to mention fluffy bear. When I saw the first commercial for Paddington 2, I was beyond excited to see the film. The first Paddington has my heart, and I didn’t think it could get much better, but it did. The heartwarming story of Paddington and all of the crazy adventures he goes on could keep me entertained for days on end. Paddington has now become my new role model because he always looks for the...

The Greatest Showman: Experiencing the Greatest Show

Posted by on Jan 8, 2018 in Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

We attended a screening as a guest of the studio There are very few movies out there that are cinematic eye dazzling, body moving, tear-worthy masterpieces.  The Greatest Showman is that movie.  From the opening scene to the very end the audience’s attention is caught.  As the opening scene is about to appear you hear voices singing ‘Woah’ over and over for a good 30 seconds, this is the beginning melody from The Greatest Show.  As the melody continues, you see feet stomping on the ground and bleachers, unison to the beat of the song.  Then the voice of Hugh Jackman informs the audience that “Ladies and gents, this is the moment you’ve waited for…”   and he’s completely right this is the moment we have been waiting for, the moment to watch The Greatest Showman.  The movie takes us...

We visited as a guest of the venue We had the opportunity to attend as a guest of The Honda Center to watch Disney on Ice “Follow Your Heart,” and the show did not disappoint. Disney on Ice outdid themselves with this exhilarating performance. My three kids were pretty much in awe for the entire 2-hours (4-year-old, 2-year-old, and 3-month-old). The show started with the characters in a scene from the movie Inside Out and then moved to the grand entrance of Disney’s favorites Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy. The minute this happened, the crowd cheered loudly when they appeared on the Ice. Following the entrance of Disney’s favorites, they featured the story of Beauty and the Beast. My kiddos went crazy for this, as this is one of their favorite movies! The costumes and performances were on point...

Olaf’s Frozen Adventure Family Movie Night

Sponsored One of our favorite family traditions is to sit by the fire, sipping on hot cocoa and watching holiday movies together. With Olaf’s Frozen Adventure being all about family traditions, I planned a recent family holiday movie night for the evening that the movie was digitally released on Movies Anywhere. The night of our movie night, my kids got all dressed in their favorite Christmas pajamas. When my children came downstairs, I had a special box wrapped by the Christmas tree for them to open. Inside of the box were fun items themed after the animated Disney short. There was a small fruitcake (my favorite scene in the film), cookies, a mini Olaf plus, a dreidel, and a card inviting them to watch Olaf’s Frozen Adventure. Our kids were so excited, and it was one of the most...

We visited as a guest of the venue Growing up with a rich theater life and now going to school that revolves around theater I have now become a little theater critic. Every play or musical I go to see, I love to think in my head “what could’ve been better” or “what was so good about it.” When I went to see Aladdin and His Winter Wish at the Laguna Playhouse the whole time I was just thinking “wow!” Aladdin has always been one of my favorite Disney Princess movies and putting that into a theatrical production where they mix up the whole story was a little bit scary for me, but the story they created and the characters they added had just the right touch to make this the best version of Aladdin. I have only ever...

We visited Pixar as a guest of Disney In the upcoming Disney-Pixar film, COCO, they wanted the music to be an essential part of the storytelling. In the movie, Miguel wants to claim his destiny and tell his family that he is going to play music, and then everything goes wrong. When creating the music, they looked at it in three different ways: 1. They talked about source music. Ernesto de la Cruz lived in Santo de Cilia, and all the musicians come to pay tribute to him 2. Score. To hold up the emotion of the film. They explored the environment, motivation of the character in the film. 3. Original songs created for the film. They wanted to give the characters performing an iconic voice. Original songs was a great way to do that. They wanted the movie...

The fact that it has never been done before just makes me want to see it even more, so I was super excited about this film. Bringing the Skeletons to Life in COCO

Posted by on Oct 3, 2017 in Disney, Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

We visited Pixar as a guest of Disney The Disney-Pixar movie COCO is coming out in theaters on November 22nd. The movie is about family, culture, and music. It tells a story about the true meaning of Día de los Muertos. In the film, skeletons play a significant role, and while I was at Pixar Animation Studios learning about the film, I was fascinated by how they were able to give the skeletons life in the film. Designing the Skeletons Daniel Arriaga, Character Art Director, shared with us that it all started with research. They studied the skull and skeleton to find a way that they could make it appealing. They did sketches to see how they could give them character and adjusted the clothing. The next step was to make them into sculptures. By doing this, it allowed...

Goodbye Christopher Robin: A Spellbinding Film

Posted by on Oct 2, 2017 in Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

Sponsored As I sank into my theatre chair at Fox Studio and watched the film Goodbye Christopher Robin, I was touched by the many raw, ‘heart awakening’ moments. Every moment in the film had such depth and mile wide discovery. “Goodbye Christopher Robin gives a rare glimpse into the relationship between beloved children’s author A.A. Milne and his son Christopher Robin who’s stuffed animals/toys inspire the magical world of Winnie the Pooh. Along with his mother, Daphne (Margot Robbie) and his nanny Olive (Kelly Mac Donald), Christopher Robin and his family are swept up in the international success of the books; the enchanting tales were bringing hope and comfort to England after the First World War. But, with the eyes of the world on Christopher Robin, what will the cost be to the family?” Simon Curtis and playwrights Frank...

We attended as a guest of the venue Sail Ho!….there is a ship yonder, a SHIP, I tell you…shiver me timbers….it looks to be…..what…it CAN’T be….the Black Pearl?! “This is either madness or brilliance, and it’s remarkable how often these two traits coincide,” craftily said by Jack Sparrow. YES, it is the one and only Black Pearl! To our amazement, Disney has done it again. They’ve managed to bring the unthinkable to our entertainment fingertips. Announcing the exciting release of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales on DVD and Blu-ray on October 3rd. Disney sprinkled this release with magic by bringing the Black Pearl to Santa Monica Beach last week. Much to our astonishment, the creators of Disney had secretly overnighted, this massive cargo load of a ship to this beach destination and dropped it off...

This post is in partnership with Warner Bros. Pictures In celebration of the upcoming film “THE LEGO NINJAGO MOVIE” coming out in theaters on September 22nd, I surprised my younger son by taking him to LEGOLAND California to be one of the first to see the film. The morning of the event, I loaded up our Kia Sorento with our suitcases and then picked him up early from school. I didn’t tell him where we were going, and it wasn’t until I pulled into the valet at the LEGOLAND Hotel that he realized we were going to LEGOLAND California. He squealed with delight, got out of the car and ran into the resort to start playing in their giant pirate ship LEGO play area. Little did he know that we were going to be staying the night, and getting...

We attended a press preview as a guest of Disney Disney-Pixar’s COCO is a beautiful film that will immerse families in the Mexican culture as it tells the story behind the meaning of Día de los Muertos. The story is about a boy who is stuck between two worlds and is also a story about what it means to be a family. Before starting to work on the film, the filmmakers started with research. They made many trips to Mexico during Día de los Muertos to learn how the different regions embrace the cultural event. During Día de los Muertos, the souls of the dead are invited back to the land of the living. It is a grand family reunion where families are joyful, and get out into the streets, a beautiful tradition. The filmmakers used the traditions to...

Posted by on Sep 6, 2017 in Disney, Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

I visited as a guest of Disney I have had the honor of meeting many Disney legends over the years, but I had the most magical experience when meeting Ernie Sabella last month at Walt Disney World. Who is Ernie Sabella? He is not only one of the most talented actors in Hollywood, but also the voice of the beloved Pumbaa in the movie The Lion King. Normally, when I meet a celebrity at a media event, I usually get a photo opportunity and time to ask them some questions about the film they are currently promoting. It was very different when I first met Ernie Sabella. It was the first night that I had arrived at Walt Disney World, and I went to a special Lion King themed dinner that Sabella was attending. When I approached Ernie Sabella...

I attended the interview as a guest of Disney The beautiful Disneynature film Born in China has been released recently on Blu-ray and digital download. While I was at Disney World last month, I had the extreme honor of talking with the creative genius behind the film Born in China, Roy Conli. Conli is well-known for his work on Big Hero 6, Tangled, and Born in China was his first time working on a Disneynature film. Everyone who sees the film is captivated by the story of the snow leopards. The beautiful animals live in a place where many humans could never survive, and the story that we followed in the movie exposed my children to how the snow leopards survive in their harsh climate. Since the movie has already been released in theaters and Blu-ray, many already know...
