We attended the performance of Aladdin as a guest Who doesn’t love a classic Disney movie turned into a Broadway production? With the lights, the costumes and the live acting there is something for everyone to enjoy. I went to the theater with my mom, and we quickly took our seats. We waited for the show to begin. From the very second, the show started to the last second, the energy was always so high and never faltered. It had me singing along to every classic song during and after the show. One thing that stood out to me in this production was the fantastic costumes! Every character was dressed...

Being a student at OCSA, I got to go to the event. I watched Kaylin sing and dance on stage with a bunch of back up dancers/singers who were also students at OCSA. About the Make-A-Wish Foundation The Make-A-Wish Foundation is one of the best charities, and I love to see how they change lives. They change the lives of every child who has a life threatening disease, and make their wishes to come true. The first thing I noticed upon arriving at the event was the red carpet. Kaylin would soon walk down it. Kaylin’s Arrival at Orange County School of the Arts There were students lined up on the sides...

You’re on your own were the last words I uttered to my family as I darted towards the inviting lobby. I entered our safe haven from the rain, wiping my glasses so that I could have a better visual of the room when my eyes set to the most welcoming fire...

I didn’t really want to research because I wanted to have that element of surprise added to the show. Let me tell you…The element of surprise did not disappoint. When the curtain opened, I could almost immediately tell that the show was based in the 1940’s – 60’s because of the outfits that were shown in the first few acts. Another thing I noticed was that I was the one of the only people under the age of 65 in the audience. I thought to myself, “this can’t be right, it’s the Segerstrom!” As...

We attended during the Disney Social Media Moms Conference I am a huge theatre lover. Ever since I started school at the Orange County School of the Arts, the theatre has become a giant part of my life, and I couldn’t imagine my life any other way. When I did some research about our upcoming trip on the Disney Dream Cruise Line, and I discovered that there was going to be a theatre on the ship, and I was so excited. Next, I looked into it more and learned that they would be doing a live musical production of Beauty and the Beast, and I couldn’t wait to see it. When we boarded the cruise, I was counting down the nights until Beauty and the Beast, which (lucky for me) was on the second night. Our dinner was at...

We attended as a guest of the venue The Lincoln Center Theater Production presents the highly-acclaimed Rodgers & Hammerstein’s, The King and I, directed by Bartlett Sher at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts from February 27th through March 11th. I had the honor of attending the opening night of the production with my oldest son and was captivated by the story, the music, and the acting. The production is based on Margaret Landon’s novel, Anna and the King of Siam (1944). My son and I took our seats in the theater, and the minute that the curtain rose, we were entranced. Through the beauty of music, we were told the story of Anna Leonowens who was a British teacher to the children of King Mongkut of Siam in the early 1860s. The love the King and Anna Leonowens...

Located in Anaheim their evening classes cap at 10 students and run about two...

Posted by on Jan 23, 2017 in Entertainment, Theatre | 0 comments

We attended as a guest of the venue Ever since I was about five, I started watching the movie “Matilda.” I watched it at home, at my Grandparent’s house and I would bring it to my friend’s houses with me. When I was old enough to read chapter books, one of the first books I read was Matilda. I have literally grown up with Matilda, so when I went to see the Nutcracker, and I saw that they were going to make a musical out of Matilda, I was so excited that when I got home, I quickly asked my mom if we could go. When we got to the theater, I was so excited, but unfortunately on opening day they had some technical difficulties and the show was canceled. I was upset at first, but my mom reassured...

Bringing Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer to Life

Posted by on Dec 26, 2016 in Christmas, Entertainment, Holiday, Theatre | 0 comments

We visited as a guest of the venue Earlier this week, we were invited to watch the musical Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. We were so excited when we received tickets for the musical because we have been watching the classic 1964 Claymation movie almost daily. The Dolby Theatre is relatively new and every seat has a perfect view of the stage. It made the experience that much more special. My three-year-old son and one-year-old daughter both love the movie, as do my husband and I. It brought me back to when I was growing up and would watch the movie with my parents. The musical follows the sequence of the beloved movie and is narrated by Sam the Snowman. They had performers and even puppeteers to enhance the performance making it feel as if you were...

We attended as a guest of the venue Last night my family and I had the opportunity to see Disney on Ice Worlds of Enchantment at the Honda Center. Our whole family thoroughly enjoyed the show. My three year old left the show asking to go back to see it tomorrow and my one year old watched in amazement. This show is so well done and entertaining it had both of my young kiddos sitting still and watching in awe the entire time. Mickey and Minnie host the show by introducing scenes from Toy Story 3, The Little Mermaid, Cars, and Frozen. Each storyline was presented with such talent from the ice skaters as they tell the story of each of the movies. Toy Story 3 started in Andy’s room as he says goodbye to his toys before he...

We visited as a guest of the venue If you are looking for something fun to do with your children this holiday season, Elf the Musical at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts is the place to bring them. Elf is my youngest son’s favorite holiday movie, and the minute that I saw Elf the Musical was coming to Orange County, I knew that I had to get tickets to bring him to see the show. With my two older children off for holiday break and my youngest still in school, I couldn’t wait to lift his spirits by surprising him with a night out at the Segerstrom Center. The minute that he heard me say, “Elf the Musical,” he screamed with excitement. Since it’s just a couple of days before Christmas, we left early to beat the traffic...

We visited as a guest of the venue Ever since I was little, I have loved watching the Nutcracker. I love to go with my grandma every single year. When I was little, I was a ballerina, and I enjoyed watching all of the people dance around the stage. Once of my favorite venues to see the Nutcracker is at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts. I have seen it as many different places, but the Segerstrom Center for the Arts is by far my favorite. As the holiday season was approaching, I couldn’t wait until the day that I would get to see the Nutcracker with my grandma at the Segerstrom Center. When we first arrived at the Segerstrom Center, the first thing we did was run upstairs and grab a picture at the really cool photo opportunity....

Sleeping Beauty and Holiday Traditions

We visited as a guest of the venue If you’ve read any of my posts, you’d know that I love theater and taking my family to as many shows as possible.  It doesn’t matter the venue; I’m always up for a show.  Last month one of my friends was talking about having a mom’s night out with our kids to see Sleeping Beauty at the Laguna Playhouse in Laguna Beach instead of a regular holiday dinner gift exchange.  I loved the idea of making holiday memories that didn’t consist of food and gifts, instead of experiences. I was the first to say yes for two reasons; one I love Sleeping Beauty (seriously she was my favorite princess growing up) and two, I had always wanted to see a show at the Laguna Playhouse.   I had driven by the venue...

A Magical Experience at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts

We visited as a guest of the venue Before my mother and I moved to California we lived in London.  Summers in London consisted of concert series in the park.  My uncles and aunts would pack picnics and we would head to Hampstead to listen to the orchestra play.  I would love playing about listening to the music as the sun set and watching the stars appear.  It was quite lovely and the memory is something that lives deep instead me.  When we moved here in the early 80s it was a bit of a culture shock.  Gone were the days of theater and concert in the park with my family which caused a void in my soul.  It wasn’t until 1986 that a spark of joy was lit again.  I was in 6th grade and Segerstrom Center for...

This performance was a great reminder that life does not always go as you plan it, but what life provides is truly beautiful if you stop and appreciate the life you are living.
