GMC Denali and Dogs Roadtrip to Ojai

Posted by on Jan 6, 2019 in Autos, Featured, General Motors, Ojai, Travel | 0 comments

We took a GMC Denali to Ojai as a guest of GMC After having children, I realized that I was spending less time with our dog than I did before kids. I decided it was time to have some bonding time with our dog, and took her with me to Ojai. I loaded up our GMC Acadia Denali with all her favorite toys and made the short drive to Ojai. Road Tripping with Dogs in the GMC Denali Acadia When planning the trip, I made sure that Daisy was safe in the back seat by using a harness. She had a smile on her face the entire car ride. Plus, I was able to keep her comfortable by turning on the heated seats. Caravan Outpost The GMC Acadia Denali provides such a comfortable ride that it only felt like...

Genoa Bar and Saloon: Nevada’s Oldest Saloon

Posted by on Jan 3, 2019 in Autos, Carson Valley, General Motors, Genoa, Nevada, Travel | 0 comments

While visiting Genoa Nevada, I had to make a quick stop at the oldest bar in Nevada, Genoa Bar, and Saloon. I drove our Chevy Tahoe over to the saloon after having lunch at the historic Pink House. The kids played with a wild deer outside of the saloon, while I went inside to explore. The minute that I walked into the saloon, I felt like I had been transported into another time. It was something straight out of a movie. Since I was driving with my kids, I couldn’t enjoy a cocktail, but I did take some time to soak up the ambiance. The saloon has a huge old-fashioned bar, a pool table, and even some tables for gambling. About Genoa Bar In 1863, Al Livingston built the building and called it Livingston’s exchange. In 1884, Frank Fettic...

Heart Rock Waterfall Hike in Crestline

Posted by on Jan 2, 2019 in Autos, Featured, General Motors, Hiking Trails, Lake Arrowhead, Travel | 0 comments

One of my favorite things about staying in Lake Arrowhead is all the beautiful hiking trails in the area. While on a recent getaway to the Lake Arrowhead Resort, we did the heart rock waterfall hike in Crestline. The hike is just a short drive away from the Lake Arrowhead Resort, and perfect for families with young children. My daughter and I got into our Buick Regal GS and headed down the mountain to the start of the trail. Finding the Trail in Crestline Finding the trail was a little challenging. The GPS took us to the side of the road, and we were not 100% sure if that was the location of the trail. To find the trail, you’ll want to put Camp Seely into your navigation. At the entrance to the camp, you’ll see a small sign...

Posted by on Jan 1, 2019 in Autos, Carson Valley, General Motors, Nevada, Travel | 0 comments

We visited the Kings Canyon Waterfall in Carson Valley as a guest The first thing my daughter and I do when planning an upcoming trip, is to see if there is a waterfall we can explore. We discovered that there is a majestic Kings Canyon Waterfall in Carson Valley Nevada. The best part is that the hike is not strenuous like many waterfall hikes. Exploring waterfalls with your children is pure magic. What to Expect at Kings Canyon Waterfall in Carson Valley The hike is perfect for families with young children. It is less than one-mile round trip. We arrived at the waterfall hike right before sunset. There is a parking area right at the base of the trail. We parked our Chevy Tahoe, and put on our jackets, and started the hike. The trail is well paved, and...

The Pink House in Genoa Nevada

Posted by on Dec 28, 2018 in Autos, Carson Valley, General Motors, Genoa, Nevada, Travel | 0 comments

We visited The Pink House in Genoa as a guest of Carson Valley Anytime that I am at a restaurant, and I see charcuterie on the menu, I always make reservations. While planning our trip to Carson Valley in Nevada, I learned about the historic town of Genoa. The one thing that stood out to me was The Pink House. I needed to inquire about a restaurant that specialized in my two favorite foods: meat and cheese. We went to have lunch at The Pink House after exploring off the beaten path with JT Humphrey’s wildlife tours. The minute that we parked our Chevy Tahoe in front of the house, we were in love. In fact, the restaurant is an Instagrammers dream come true. We walked into the restaurant, and there was a sign guiding us to the back...

Carson Valley: The Hanging Tree in Genoa Nevada

Posted by on Dec 28, 2018 in Autos, Carson Valley, General Motors, Genoa, Nevada, Travel | 1 comment

We visited the hanging tree in Genoa as a guest of Carson Valley My travels around the world have made me fall in love with historical landmarks. I am fascinated by old stories. Recently, while in Carson Valley, we spent half a day in the town of Genoa. If you don’t already know, Genoa is the first settlement in Nevada, and rich in history. If you like historical buildings and history, you’ll fall in love with the town of Genoa as much as I did. While planning our trip to Genoa, I noticed something about a hanging tree online. There wasn’t much information about it, so I set out on a mission to learn more. The ranger at the Mormon Station State Historic Park gave me directions to The Hanging Tree. Also, he shared some of the back story...

An Electric Vehicle Powerful Enough to Autocross

Posted by on Dec 3, 2018 in Autos, Family, Featured, General Motors | 0 comments

As Rascal Flatts would say, I like fast cars and freedom. So, imagine my surprise when I got an invite to autocross with an electric vehicle. I was so intrigued that I couldn’t resist saying “yes” to test out the Chevy Bolt EV on a track at Santa Anita. When I arrived at Santa Anita, there were three Chevy Bolt EV cars and one VW GTI (that most popular car autocross drivers have preferred driving) until experiencing the Chevy Bolt so we could compare the ride. When comparing the Chevy Bolt EV to the VW GTI: The Chevy Bolt EV: Length 164″, Width 69.5, Height 62.8, Wheelbase 102.4, Pass Volume 94.4 cu ft, Max Cargo Volume 56.6 cu ft The VW GTI: Length 168″, Width 70.8, Height 57.8, Wheelbase 103.6, Pass Volume 93.5 cu ft, Max Cargo Volume 52.7...

Towing Made Easy Enough That A Mom Can Do It Alone

Posted by on Sep 24, 2018 in Autos, Family, General Motors | 1 comment

I attended an event as a guest of Chevrolet I have a love for adventure. One of the best ways to have an ultimate adventure in the world is by towing trailers, boats, ATV’s and more. The only downside to towing is that it can be intimating for many, especially moms. Towing has been something that I have wanted to try for many years, and I recently got my first opportunity to tow an ATV on the back of the Chevrolet Silverado. Never in a million years did I think that it would be something that I could do without any help, but the towing navigation system in the Chevrolet Silverado made it so easy that I was able to hook up a trailer to the back of the truck in less than 10 minutes, and all by myself....

Bubblegum Alley in San Luis Obispo

Posted by on Apr 18, 2017 in General Motors, San Luis Obispo, Travel | 0 comments

While on our road trip to Monterey, one of our favorite stops was to see the bubblegum alley in San Luis Obispo. My daughter and I have always wanted to see the bubblegum alley in Seattle, and we didn’t even realize there was one in San Luis Obispo until a friend mentioned it to us. We put the address into the navigation in our Buick Encore and made our way to have some sticky “and stinky” fun. The biggest challenge of getting to the bubblegum alley was finding parking. The alley is located right in the heart of downtown San Luis Obispo, and parking is not easy to find. Once we found a parking spot, it was only a one-hour parking, so we had to make our visit to the area brief. The alley was located in-between two businesses...

Visit The First Motel in the World

Posted by on Apr 12, 2017 in General Motors, San Luis Obispo, Travel | 0 comments

While on a mother and daughter road trip from Orange County to Monterey, we added a stop at the first motel in the world to our itinerary. The first “Mo-tel” was opened on December 12, 1925, and was closed in 1991. Since we love to travel, we thought it would be neat to have a chance to see where travel first started right in the heart of San Luis Obispo. We were driving a beautiful 2017 Buick Encore that made it easy to locate the destination with the vehicles seamless navigation system. The motel was located right on the side of the freeway making it easy for us to stop and take a look without adding a lot to our drive time. When we arrived at the motel, we pulled our Buick Encore into the parking lot, parked the...

Why the Buick Encore is Perfect for Every Driver

Posted by on Apr 11, 2017 in Autos, Family, General Motors | 0 comments

Vehicle loan provided Last week, I took the 2017 Buick Encore on an epic mother and daughter road trip from Orange County to Monterey. While on our road trip, we cruised along the freeway in ultimate comfort and created memories that will last a lifetime. I have been driving a GMC Yukon XL for the past nine years, so when I got behind the wheel of the Encore, it felt like I was driving a race car. It had the same power as my Yukon XL, and I felt just as safe as I do in my full-size SUV. I enjoyed the zip and light ride that the Encore made me feel when behind the wheel. Since I have a teenager turning 15 next month, we are in the market for his first car. I thought that driving the...

Creating Memories Hiking with Your Teens

Posted by on Mar 26, 2017 in Autos, Family, General Motors | 0 comments

Sponsored As my two older children quickly became teenagers, it has been more important than ever for me to spend quality time with each of them. One of my favorite things to do with my teenagers is to take them for hikes along our beautiful Orange County trails. There is something about being close to nature and away from the stresses of daily life that help my teens to open up about the challenges and stresses of being a teenager in the 20th century. Earlier this month, I surprised my teenage daughter with news that we were going for a hike in Laguna Canyon. I packed up our GMC Acadia Denali with water bottles and snacks before getting ready to cruise down to Laguna Canyon. While on our way to the hiking trail, we rolled down the windows and...

Cruising Down the Coast in a GMC Acadia Denali

Posted by on Mar 24, 2017 in Autos, Family, General Motors | 0 comments

Sponsored When it is a sunny day in Southern California, one of my favorite things to do with my children is to go for a drive down the coast. One morning last week, I surprised my younger son with news that I was going to take him for a drive down the coast to spend the day at Legoland California. Not only were we going to Legoland, but we were also going to attend the debut of the new Lego Star Wars Miniland – he was in pure heaven. I packed a backpack full of snacks for the day, and we got into our beautiful GMC Acadia Denali, opened the sunroof, and got ready to start driving down to Carlsbad. While loading up the car, I realized that I had forgotten to charge my camera battery the night before....

Sponsored Da na na na na na na BATMAN! The highly anticipated time has come for The Lego Batman movie to debut to the world in theaters on July 10th. My son lives, breathes and dreams about legos. When I told him the news that we were going to Los Angeles for the World Premiere of The Lego Batman Movie as a guest of Chevrolet, he squealed with delight. Did you know that the Batmobile is a Chevrolet? That’s right – it sure is! Since Batman drives a Chevrolet, we couldn’t arrive at the premiere driving any other kind of car. The morning of the premiere, we got into our cool blue Chevrolet Cruz Hatchback and cruised down the freeway to the premiere. I downloaded The Lego Batman soundtrack album to my iPhone, plugged my phone into the Chevrolet...

Mother-Daughter Road Trip in a Buick Envision

Posted by on Jan 2, 2017 in Autos, General Motors | 0 comments

Test vehicle provided As my daughter has become a teenager, it has been increasingly important for me to spend quality time with her. It is so easy for a teenage girl to go down the wrong path in life, and having a good role model in her life that she can talk to about the challenges of being a teenager is crucial. Along with having our regular dinner dates and evening walks, I planned a mother-daughter road trip to Yosemite in a beautiful Buick Envision. Since she is going to be driving in just three short years, I thought that a road trip would be a fun way to spend our getaway so that I can talk to her about teen driving behavior. I decided to take her in a Buick Envision so that I could demonstrate with her...
