DIY Snow Globe Ornaments

Posted by on Dec 14, 2016 in Christmas, Crafts, Family, Holiday | 1 comment

Sponsored I love making crafts during the holiday season, and I find that handmade crafts make for the perfect holiday gift. Every year, I make ornaments with my children so that they can give them to their grandparents as Christmas gifts. Since I make the ornaments with my children – it has to be simple craft. I got inspired to get crafty this week and get started working on this year’s ornaments from my favorite Snowman, Holiday Hal, who has been sharing some creative holiday crafting tips on the Voya Financial Facebook page where I normally get tips/tools to help us plan for retirement.I figured that if a snowman can find time to do holiday crafts then so can I. Holiday Hal got me thinking a lot about snow and inspired me to make these simple DIY snow globe...

We attended a media event as a guest of Disney The holidays are sweeter this year at the Disneyland Resort with their all-new Festival of Holidays celebration at Disney California Adventure Park. She is a princess with a heart of gold who spreads kindness throughout the world. This holiday season, your family can visit Princess Elena at Disney California Adventure Park and enjoy a festive street parade called Princess Elena’s Musical Grand Arrival. When our family celebrated the holiday season at the Disneyland Resort this year, the first thing that we did was go to see Princess Elena’s Musical Grand Arrival. Our kids were dancing to the music as Princess Elena arrived on a beautifully decorated float. She sung some of our favorite songs and then came off the float for a few minutes to greet some...

A Touch of Elegance to Your Holiday Decorations

Posted by on Dec 12, 2016 in Christmas, Holiday | 0 comments

Sponsored Holiday decorations take a beating every year because of the harsh winter weather. Because of this, we always purchase 1-2 new items every year so that our decorations stay fresh and vibrant. Our children love blow-up holiday lawn decorations a little too much. With our front yard covered with blow-up decorations, I wanted to add a touch of elegance to our home this year, so I got a new Venetian Elegance Christmas Wreath & Garland. We put the garland on our front garage door, and I was immediately in love with the look. The garland features pine cones, ornaments, and flowers. The ornaments and flowers add a little gold and red colors to the garland making it have the perfect Venetian look. Above the garland, we hung the matching wreath under the front bedroom window. The company that...

Posted by on Dec 6, 2016 in Christmas, Family, Giveaways, Holiday, Theme Parks | 1 comment

Sponsored It has been many years since our family has visited SeaWorld San Diego, and since our youngest is passionate about animals and conservation, we made plans with Reserve San Diego booking services to visit SeaWorld San Diego during Thanksgiving break. The minute that we entered the gates, our children were immersed into a magical world under the sea that was all decorated for the holiday season. We started our visit to SeaWorld San Diego by watching the entertaining Dolphin Island Christmas. The show began with festive Hawaiian holiday music followed by an interactive dolphin show. The Magical of the Holidays at the Sawdust Festival

Posted by on Dec 6, 2016 in Christmas, Events, Featured, Holiday | 0 comments

We visited as a guest of the venue For many years, the Sawdust Festival in Laguna Beach has been our family destination during summer.  With the various activities available for the whole family it makes it a great destination. This year we decided to visit the Sawdust Art Festival’s 26TH Annual Winter Fantasy. For years I had wanted to go but always hesitated because of parking, but then I learned that Laguna has multiple lots within walking distance so I could put my hesitation aside and enjoy a day out with my family.  I love the venue for the Sawdust Festival.  The outside reminds me of a fairy tale house similar to that of the dwarves from Snow White. The ground is covered in sawdust and as you walk through its gates you immediately feel the magic of Christmas....

Entice Rudolph with Reindeer Chow

Posted by on Dec 5, 2016 in Christmas, Entertainment, Family, Film, Holiday, Recipes | 0 comments

Sponsored One of my favorite things to do during the holiday season is to watch the classic version of “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” with my children. The timeless story brings out the spirit of the season in a way that is indescribable, and watching a classic holiday movie is one of the best ways to get your family into the holiday spirit. Along with “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” we also enjoy watching “Frosty the Snowman,” and “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” during the holiday season. The one thing that has been challenging for me in the past was finding the movies to download and watch with our children every year. When I learned that an Anniversary Collection of the three timeless films was being released this year, I jumped at the opportunity to add it to our home...

While the upcoming food-filled holidays take a bit of extra preparation and conscientiousness, it does not mean that you and the family will miss out on the holiday cheer. With Halloween behind us, we have a few more dessert-filled holidays on the horizon and there is no reason kids can’t indulge in a piece of pumpkin pie or a Christmas treat. But it’s important to plan ahead; adjust your child’s carbohydrate intake to allot for the added sugar at dinner.
