Guide to Visiting the Disneyland Springtime Roundup

Posted by on Apr 7, 2014 in Disney, Easter, Events, Featured, Holiday, Theme Parks | 5 comments

Zip-a-dee-doo-da zip-a-dee-a! My, oh my what a wonderful day! Plenty of sunshine is heading my way as we made our way to the Disneyland Springtime Roundup! From the moment, that we entered Frontierland, we were greeted with beautiful floral arrangements and plenty of sunshine to go around. The springtime flowers are in full bloom on signs, kiosks and all along the path leading to the Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree arena. The magical floral masterpiece that caught my eye was a wagon fully decorated in flowers at the entrance to the Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree Arena where the Springtime Roundup is taking place. Once we walked inside the entrance there were different meet and greet character areas, where we had our photos taken with Roger Rabbit, The Easter Bunny, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and Pluto with his adorable bunny...

Stained Glass Easter Sugar Cookies

Posted by on Apr 3, 2014 in Easter, Featured, Holiday, Recipes | 0 comments

Easter time in my home is always filled with an abundance of goodies. I love to bake different types of sweet treats to share with our friends and family. These Easter sugar cookies are perfect for any Easter or Spring celebration. Not only are they unique, they are delicious as well. They also make great decorations. These cookies are simple enough to make, that even a non baker will be able to make them with ease. Here is what you will need: Sugar cookie dough (I used Martha Stewart recipe ) If you use your own dough make sure it is good for sugar cookie cut outs. If the dough is too soft the candy will spill out and not stay inside the desired area.   Egg shaped cookie cutter Small shaped cookie cutters – these will...

Focusing on the True Meaning of Easter with Children

Posted by on Apr 2, 2014 in Culture, Easter, Featured, Holiday | 2 comments

My favorite season of the year is Spring. Everything is green and clean, flowers are blooming, that first hit of summer’s warmth usually shines through, but it’s not yet too hot to enjoy being outside without being submerged in water. It’s the perfect time of year. Also, I was married and had both of my children in Spring – all within two weeks of each other (different years of course!) so Spring is a party in this house! Another reason to celebrate in Spring is, naturally, Easter. Brightly colored eggs abound, there’s always a funny looking life-sized bunny somewhere to be found, families gathers for brunch, little girls don pretty pastel dresses and little boys might even clean up in slacks and a tie. But there’s more to Easter than just this. Christians are able to celebrate Easter...

Recipe for Dying Easter Eggs Naturally

Posted by on Mar 24, 2014 in Easter, Health, Holiday | 1 comment

Two years ago, when I was a brand new Mama of two, in the same week that my three month old got diagnosed with some food sensitivities, my three year old got diagnosed with a food dye allergy. This came at the end of her having nine months of nearly consistent hives, and from our third allergist. While I’ve always prided myself on my families healthy eating habits – we were never the soda and Doritos type of family – needless to say, we couldn’t live with hives all the time, and I obviously didn’t want to constantly medicate my four year old with Zyrtec. With some subsequent research I found that, unfortunately, artificial (think: Red 40) and “natural” (think: annatto) food dye, both of which were causing these negative reactions in my daughter, are in much, much...

Easter Egg Hunt for Children with Food Allergies

Posted by on Mar 27, 2013 in Easter, Family, Featured, Holiday, Uncategorized | 1 comment

One of my favorite things about being a parent is the ability to be spontaneous. My older son dreads Easter egg hunts because of his severe food allergies. He runs around every Easter with his brother and sister collecting plastic eggs and then has to hand over all the treats. We have tried so many different ways to host an egg hunt over the years with toys, stickers and even coins, but it never has the same thrill for him until now. Last night I was spontaneous and decided to try something new, an Easter egg hunt for kids with food allergies, a night glow in the dark egg hunt! The idea came to mind when driving into Laguna Niguel yesterday for baseball and seeing a sign for a flashlight community egg hunt. I thought it was such...

Perfect Family Easter Gift

Posted by on Mar 25, 2013 in Dining, Easter, Featured, Holiday | 0 comments

One of my favorite things about the holiday is spending time with family. Unfortunately, there are some family members who do not live close to us, and cannot spend the Easter holiday with us. For this family members, I have found the Edible Arrangements makes a lovely gift to send to family and friends who cannot spend Easter with us. I surprised the kids last week by ordering a fruit bouquet from Edible arrangements. When they got home from school as saw the chocolate covered Easter bunny and a large variety of fresh fruit, they screamed with delight. They ate the entire basket of fresh fruit in just a couple of hours. The basket had a large variety of fresh fruit perfectly placed on plastic sticks. There is something about eating food on a stick that even the...

Family Guide to the Irvine Park Easter Eggstravaganza

Posted by on Mar 21, 2013 in Easter, Events, Featured, Holiday | 0 comments

The Irvine Park Easter Eggstravaganza is happening now until March 30th. Everywhere your kids turn, there will be something more to explore. We have a fun family guide on what to expect when visiting the Irvine Park Easter Eggstravaganza this month. The Easter activities are on Saturdays and Sundays starting promptly at 9:30am, and the Wheel of Fun Bike rentals open at 10am. Our first recommendation is to visit the Easter Bunny first. Remember that it is a park, and the kids can get dirty quickly. I will never forget our visit last year when the kids started with the face painting, and my youngest son transformed his face into a skeleton (complete with gushing blood out of the forehead). It was not the most “Easter” friendly picture we have to remember our visit, but we giggle every...
