Posted by on Oct 28, 2016 in Halloween, Holiday, LegoLand, Theme Parks | 0 comments

We visited as a guest of Legoland Halloween is my favorite holiday of the year because of all the fun family events happening across Southern California. One of our favorite family Halloween traditions is to visit Legoland California for their Brick-or-Treat Party Nights event. This year, we did something different and got the full-day package which allowed us to arrive at the theme park early. The night of the event, we got to Legoland around 1 pm, and the park was full of children dressed in Halloween-themed clothing. We joined some friends who were also visiting the Legoland and our children squealed with delight while going on the different attractions. They raced cars, splashed in the water feature, and flew high in the helicopters. The rides at Legoland are perfect for children of all ages to enjoy. As the...

Posted by on Oct 25, 2016 in Dining, Family, Halloween, Holiday | 1 comment

We dined as a guest of the venue Are you looking for somewhere fun and unique to take the kids for a Halloween treat? I recently brought my kids to one of the newest hot spots in the OC, Nitrolado, for some of their mouthwatering ice cream. The store is located in the heart of Garden Grove, and they use dry ice to make frightfully fun treats for kids to enjoy during the Halloween season. When we arrived at Nitrolado, our kid’s eyes lit up with delight when they saw all the steam coming out of the ice cream makers. They didn’t want to stop watching them making ice cream until I pointed out the tasty candy bar. We then went over to select our toppings from the vast selection of candies and our ice cream flavor. The day...

Donate Your Costume’s to Homeless OC Children

Posted by on Oct 14, 2016 in Family, Giving Back, Halloween | 0 comments

The Orange County Rescue Mission is urgently seeking the community’s help to provide nearly 100 Halloween costumes for its record number of homeless children living at the Village of Hope, the Rescue Mission’s transitional living facility. Orange County Rescue Mission President Jim Palmer explains that many of these children have experienced traumatic life events that children their age should never have to encounter, which is why creating opportunities to be social and enjoy a common interest among other children their age is crucial to their well-being and development. The Orange County Rescue Mission is seeking a total of 93 different costumes and up to 500lbs of candy for the upcoming “Trunk or Treat” community event being organized by Mission Bible Church, and taking place on Monday, October 31 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Rescue Mission....

‘Boo it Forward’ with Ghostbusters

Posted by on Oct 14, 2016 in Entertainment, Film, Halloween, Uncategorized | 0 comments

Product sample received One of our favorite things to do at Halloween is to “Boo” our friends. Every year, the kids go shopping for fun trinkets and treats to make Halloween-themed care packages for their friends. Then comes the fun part when we tip toe around in the dark in hopes of not being caught secretly delivering the care packages to all our friend’s houses. This year, we made our “Boo” care packages a little different. Since the new Ghostbusters movie just came out on DVD and Blu-ray on October 11th, we created ghostly themed care packages for all our friends (minus the green slime). We filled the packages with mini rubber ghosts, candy, and a copy of “Ghostbusters: Answer The Call.” We also included a reminder to “Boo it Forward” by making a care package and delivering it...

DIY Easy Mermaid Costume

Posted by on Oct 12, 2016 in Halloween, Holiday | 0 comments

I love making my kids Halloween costumes. Since I take the kids to so many different Halloween events throughout the season around Orange County, my kids usually end up needing more than one costume a year. Since my daughters favorite television show is Mako Mermaids, she wanted me to make her a mermaid costume this year. I had to stop and think for a few minutes about how I would make a skirt that she could walk in, and after a trip to our local fabric store, I had figured it out. Originally I thought this was going to be a hard costume to make, but it ended up being one of the easiest costumes I have ever made. It required only a few materials, and I was done making it in less than a couple of hours....

We visited as a guest of the venue One of our favorite Halloween traditions is to experience all the fun happening at the Spooky Science exhibit at Discovery Cube OC. While we were at Discovery Cube OC for a special Ice Age event, we went over to the exhibit for some Spooky Science fun. The event is happening every weekend until Halloween with a different theme each week. That means that your kids can experience something different every time that they come for Spooky Science. Our children spent over an hour stopping at the various interactive stations and learned a lot about bats. They also had a blast on the mini tractor rides, saw live animals, and made slithering snakes. Once they were done with all the spooky fun, it was time to explore the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle...

Posted by on Oct 11, 2016 in Halloween, Holiday, Knott's Berry Farm, Theme Parks | 0 comments

We visited as a guest of Knott’s It might be quite scary in the evening at Knott’s for Knott’s Scary Farm, but it is all family fun in the daytime during Knott’s Spooky Farm. Visiting Knott’s Spooky Farm has been a yearly tradition that our family has enjoyed since our kids were toddlers. I can still remember the time when my youngest was still in diapers trick-or-treating around Camp Snoopy, and now he is all grown-up. Our kids kept asking when we were going to Knott’s Spooky Farm, and we surprised them with a day at the theme park over the weekend. It was an incredibly hot day to visit Knott’s, so we didn’t have the kids come in their costumes to trick-or-treat like we have in the past. Our day started in Camp Snoopy where I watched the...

We stayed as a guest of the venue When looking for the best place to have a Halloween staycation with your family this year, The Great Wolf Lodge is the place to have a epic Howl-O-Ween getaway. Last week, our family had a weekend getaway to the premier vacation destination, and it was one of the best family staycations we have ever had. We checked into The Great Wolf Lodge on a Friday afternoon, and then took the shuttle over to Disneyland for Mickey’s Halloween Party. Our kids trick-or-treated, enjoyed tasty Halloween-themed treats, and watched the fireworks twinkle over Sleeping Beauty’s Castle. Once the clock struck midnight, and Disneyland started to close, we made our way back to The Great Wolf Lodge where our children would dream of cake pops and lollipops. Our family would spend the weekend in...

Posted by on Oct 5, 2016 in Halloween, Knott's Berry Farm | 2 comments

We visited as a guest of Knott’s Now that my oldest son Andrew is in high school, I felt like he was at a good age to bring to Knott’s Scary Farm for the first time. I have so many memorable memories from going to Knott’s Scary Farm as a teenager, and I couldn’t wait for my son’s first memory to be with me. We arrived at Knott’s Berry Farm about half an hour early and waited by the entrance to Camp Snoopy where we watched the Ghosts and Goblins awake from their year’s rest. Multiple scary creatures and zombies paraded around in front of us, giving us a sneak peek of what we were going to be in store for that night. When the ropes were taken down, and we were allowed to enter Knott’s Scary Farm the...

Posted by on Oct 3, 2016 in Crafts, Entertainment, Film, Halloween | 0 comments

Sponsored There are many Netflix original series that my kids love to watch, but the one series that they enjoy watching over and over again is All Hail King Julien. The show is hilarious, and one that families can enjoy watching together. As Halloween has quickly approached, and we began discussing different costume options, my son immediately knew that he wanted a King Julien costume. The only problem is that it’s not a costume that can be found in a costume store. So, I put my thinking cap on and started to brainstorm about how I could make him a King Julien costume. First, I watched a couple of All Hail King Julien episodes with my son. We laughed hysterically together while watching King Julien and his funny antics. Then it was time to start putting the costume together....
