The spellbinding costumes in the Disney film, “Oz the Great and Powerful” brought the vivid film to life. Costume designer, Gary Jones and Michael Kutsche, clothed over 1500 actors over a 23 week period. The actors Oz, Theodora, Glinda and Evanora had over 200 pieces of costumes and accessories in the film. James Franco (Oz) had only one costume in the film. He wore a 3-piece suit was designed based off of the 1880-1930 era. Gary Jones researched vintage photos from the era that inspired the final black cutaway suit worn in the film. “For Evanora, the ruler of Emerald City, the starting point was looking at the architecture of the city,” Kutsche says. “I really wanted her to not just be some person in this place, but to actually be this place.” Kutsche sculpted the characters in two-dimensional...

Teaching my children about compassion is crucial to me as a parent. I do a lot of community service with my children, in hopes that they will see a need for them to make a difference in the world. Five Tips for Enriching Child Development #QualityECE

Posted by on Mar 1, 2013 in Family, Featured, RecentVideos, Uncategorized | 6 comments

After High School, I knew that I had a passion for education. When I first started College, I began my journey towards a degree in Early Childhood Education. Throughout my College years, I spent my days working as a teacher’s assistant before becoming a preschool teacher. I knew that I wanted to work with younger children because I wanted to be a part of helping to give kids the best start in life. To me – it was the most rewarding experience. I learned that 90% of a child’s brain develops by the age of 5, making the early years the most critical time to enrich a young child. According to First 5 LA, many parents are not aware that the first five years of their child’s life has such a significant impact on the future of their success....

Fueling a Healthy Heart

Posted by on Feb 15, 2013 in Family, Featured, RecentVideos, Uncategorized | 0 comments

Giving kids a healthy breakfast in the morning is important for kids to be effective while in school. Oatmeal has been a staple breakfast item in my home since my kids were first born. It is so easy to add fruit, flax seed and more into their oatmeal giving them the nutrition they need to effectively learn while in school. I have always been so concerned about my children’s nutrition in the morning, that I often forget about myself. It is so easy to grab a cup of coffee and run out the door to start my day. With it being American Heart Month, I have been inspired to start taking better care of my heart by also starting my day with a healthy breakfast. Quaker, a brand that is a staple in my home, is teaming up with...
