Finding Your Way Home with Christopher Robin

Posted by on Aug 3, 2018 in Disney, Entertainment, Film | 1 comment

I attended a screening as a guest of Disney Have you ever felt lost? Alone? Forgotten? It has been a feeling that I have been experiencing a lot this year, and why when I saw Christopher Robin, as an adult feeling lost, it made the movie so relatable to my current life situation. In the movie, Christopher Robin finds himself working so hard, not having enough time to spend with his wife and daughter, and struggling to find balance – and happiness. Meanwhile, back in the Hundred Acre Wood, Winnie-the-Pooh awakes from his slumber to find that the once sunny Hundred Acre Wood was now gloomy, dark, and he was all alone. I’ve been trying to spend as much time as possible with my friends and family, and trying to avoid that dark and painful feeling of being alone....

Visit Winnie-the-Pooh’s Hundred Acre Wood in England

Posted by on Jul 27, 2018 in Disney, Entertainment, Featured, Film, Travel | 0 comments

It has been nine years since I last visited my family in London.  We are a close-knit bunch and spend every day together.  The last time we were there my children were 1 and 4 which meant that every day was spent in a park.   My aunt Barbara told us about this enchanting park that she felt the children would love so we headed out to Aldenham Country Park in Hertfordshire to visit the 100 Aker Wood.  Now if that sounds a bit familiar it may be due to a little song that starts off like this: Deep in the hundred acre wood Where Christopher Robin plays, you will find the enchanted neighborhood of Christopher’s childhood days A donkey named Eeyore is his friend. And Kanga and little Roo. There’s Rabbit. and Piglet And there’s Owl But most...

Ant-Man and The Wasp Teen Review

Posted by on Jul 6, 2018 in Disney, Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

I attended a screening as a guest of Disney When the first Ant-Man movie came out, my brothers and I were so excited for a new Marvel character that we already knew we were going to love it. I watched it for the first time and immediately fell in love with the ant-sized superhero. When I started seeing the previews for Ant-Man and The Wasp I was so excited to see where the old movie left off. There are three reasons why I enjoyed this sequel so much. Number 1: The movie is so close to reality that it was so easy to understand and fun to watch. Most other superhero movies take place in a completely different setting than the modern world, so it’s effortless to connect with the things that are happening in the film. A majority...

Talking with the Cast of Ant-Man and The Wasp

Posted by on Jul 2, 2018 in Disney, Entertainment, Film | 1 comment

We attended the event as a guest of Disney Ant-Man and the Wasp is a fantastic sequel to the first Ant-Man movie and a must-see for all parents and children. I recently had the privilege of going to Pasadena and speaking with the cast of the new film, and I can assure you they had a lot of fun things to say. One of my favorite features of the movie was all the comedy and how much I laughed during the film. Even during the serious parts someone almost always said something to lighten the mood. The cast made me laugh once more when Evangeline Lilly (The Wasp) said about Paul Rudd (Ant-Man) who helped write the script, “His best lines in the movie are not on the script.” Knowing that not all of the comedic lines weren’t scripted...

Deric McCabe Shines in A Wrinkle in Time

We attended the interview as a guest of Disney One of my favorite movies of the year has been “A Wrinkle in Time.” I loved the lighting, the acting, and the message behind the story. While in Los Angeles last month, I had an opportunity to sit down and talk with one of the stars of the film, Deric McCabe. If you aren’t familiar with McCabe, he is a hilarious young boy who plays the role of Charles Wallace Murry in the movie. The minute that I entered the room, McCabe offered to show us some of his talents and did a couple of cartwheels around the room. The young actor is vivacious, full of energy, and he made every minute of the interview so much fun. Once he took his seat and we got started talking about the...

While in Los Angeles earlier this month celebrating the upcoming release of Peter Pan on Movies Anywhere and Multi-Screen Edition: Blu-ray™ + Digital I got the honor of visiting the Walt Disney Animation Research Library. Before being invited to visit the Animation Research Library, I never even knew that it existed. As we entered the building, we had to turn off the geolocation on our phones so that the location will not be leaked out to the public. We were then advised to put all our bags in a conference room in the lobby, and we weren’t allowed to bring anything with us into the research library, even pens. It has been a long time dream of mine to go into his office, and I was immersed in the magic of Disney while walking in Walt’s footsteps. Everything in Walt Disney’s office has been placed and preserved precisely how it was when he was alive, and I felt like Walt was right there with us while walking around his office. While in Los Angeles earlier this month, I had the honor of meeting with Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and got to talk to her about what it was like being a droid in the new hit film. Before meeting with Phoebe Waller-Bridge, I had heard that she didn’t know very much about Star Wars before being cast for the film. When asking her about it, she said, “I did know about Star Wars, but I hadn’t seen any of the films. I think there’s like, five of us in the world.” She continued to share with us that she felt like it worked in her favor. “I was very loose...

But, there is a human behind all that fur and kindness, and in Solo: A Star Wars Story, it is Joonas Suotamo. Every little boy dreams of being Chewbacca, my boys especially, so when I told them I was going to meet the man, the myth, the legend, behind Chewbacca in Solo: A Star Wars Story….they almost fainted. The one thing that stood out to me about Joonas Suotamo is that he is not your traditional actor. When looking for someone to play the part of Chewbacca, they apparently needed someone tall, so the director seemed to our local pro basketball teams to find. “I got the role out of the...

The Magic of Disney on Ice Follow Your Heart

Posted by on Dec 22, 2017 in Disney, Entertainment | 0 comments

We visited as a guest of the venue We had the opportunity to attend as a guest of The Honda Center to watch Disney on Ice “Follow Your Heart,” and the show did not disappoint. Disney on Ice outdid themselves with this exhilarating performance. My three kids were pretty much in awe for the entire 2-hours (4-year-old, 2-year-old, and 3-month-old). The show started with the characters in a scene from the movie Inside Out and then moved to the grand entrance of Disney’s favorites Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy. The minute this happened, the crowd cheered loudly when they appeared on the Ice. Following the entrance of Disney’s favorites, they featured the story of Beauty and the Beast. My kiddos went crazy for this, as this is one of their favorite movies! The costumes and performances were on point...

Olaf’s Frozen Adventure Family Movie Night

Posted by on Dec 21, 2017 in Disney, Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

Sponsored One of our favorite family traditions is to sit by the fire, sipping on hot cocoa and watching holiday movies together. With Olaf’s Frozen Adventure being all about family traditions, I planned a recent family holiday movie night for the evening that the movie was digitally released on Movies Anywhere. The night of our movie night, my kids got all dressed in their favorite Christmas pajamas. When my children came downstairs, I had a special box wrapped by the Christmas tree for them to open. Inside of the box were fun items themed after the animated Disney short. There was a small fruitcake (my favorite scene in the film), cookies, a mini Olaf plus, a dreidel, and a card inviting them to watch Olaf’s Frozen Adventure. Our kids were so excited, and it was one of the most...

Winter Wonderfest: A Perfect Way to Keep Cool This Hot Holiday Season

Posted by on Dec 19, 2017 in Christmas, Events, Holiday, Museums | 0 comments

We visited as a guest of the venue Oh, the weather outside is frightfully hot with the record-breaking heat this holiday season which means my plans for snow play up in the mountains during the holidays has been postponed.  Thank goodness for the Discovery Cube OC’s Winter Wonderfest!  You read it right…snow is coming to Orange County.  Year after year the Discovery Cube OC brings joy, snow, and fun to children and adults. To experience tubing down a huge 75-foot ramp, sledding, and playing in real snow you need three important things.  1. Warmish jacket. It may be in the high 70’s but baby it gets cold outside next to the ice.  2. Gloves!!! Any kind of gloves would do, but I highly recommend waterproof ones so that your fingers don’t freeze from making snowmen and throwing snowballs. 3....

Knowing how popular the traditional event is at the Disneyland Resort, we arrived early and had dinner at the Uva Bar in Downtown Disney before entering Disneyland Park. We enjoyed a delicious steak dinner paired with a fresh, crisp salad, and it was the perfect prelude to our magical evening. Once the time had come, we entered the park and got in line...

We visited Pixar as a guest of Disney In the upcoming Disney-Pixar film, COCO, they wanted the music to be an essential part of the storytelling. In the movie, Miguel wants to claim his destiny and tell his family that he is going to play music, and then everything goes wrong. When creating the music, they looked at it in three different ways: 1. They talked about source music. Ernesto de la Cruz lived in Santo de Cilia, and all the musicians come to pay tribute to him 2. Score. To hold up the emotion of the film. They explored the environment, motivation of the character in the film. 3. Original songs created for the film. Posted by on Sep 6, 2017 in Disney, Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

I visited as a guest of Disney I have had the honor of meeting many Disney legends over the years, but I had the most magical experience when meeting Ernie Sabella last month at Walt Disney World. Who is Ernie Sabella? He is not only one of the most talented actors in Hollywood, but also the voice of the beloved Pumbaa in the movie The Lion King. Normally, when I meet a celebrity at a media event, I usually get a photo opportunity and time to ask them some questions about the film they are currently promoting. It was very different when I first met Ernie Sabella. It was the first night that I had arrived at Walt Disney World, and I went to a special Lion King themed dinner that Sabella was attending. When I approached Ernie Sabella...

What Happened to the Baby Snow Leopards in Born in China

Posted by on Sep 4, 2017 in Disney, Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

I attended the interview as a guest of Disney The beautiful Disneynature film Born in China has been released recently on Blu-ray and digital download. While I was at Disney World last month, I had the extreme honor of talking with the creative genius behind the film Born in China, Roy Conli. Conli is well-known for his work on Big Hero 6, Tangled, and Born in China was his first time working on a Disneynature film. Everyone who sees the film is captivated by the story of the snow leopards. The beautiful animals live in a place where many humans could never survive, and the story that we followed in the movie exposed my children to how the snow leopards survive in their harsh climate. Since the movie has already been released in theaters and Blu-ray, many already know...

Three Reasons Teens Should Watch The Lion King

Posted by on Aug 29, 2017 in Disney, Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

Sponsored The Lion King is my favorite Disney movie ever created. I feel that once people see the Lion King, they will fall in love with just like I did. Now that I am a teenager, all of my friends want to watch the latest movie release, but I feel that we should also relive our love for childhood classics like the Lion King. Recently, I saw the Lion King for the first time as a teenager with my friends during a backyard movie night, and it was like seeing it for the first time. These are my three reasons why teenagers should watch the Lion King. The music. Almost every teenager loves music, and the Lion King has the best music ever. If you are like me and value music most when it comes to movies, then this...

Sponsored The time has finally come for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 to be released on blu-ray and digital download with Disney Movies Anywhere. The movie is one of my kids all time favorites, and when it was released on blu-ray, I immediately got a copy of the film to add to our home movie collection. In celebration of the film release, I invited some of my kid’s friends over to our home for an epic Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 backyard movie night. I wanted the food to be themed after the film, but I didn’t have a lot of time to make themed dishes for the evening. Instead of making foods, I found food in our grocery store that was “space themed.” I got Sun Chips, Starburst, Milky Way, Eclipse gum, and Sunkist soda. When...

Our family spends every possible moment that we have in the beautiful country, learning about the culture, enjoying delicious cuisine, and making lifelong friends. We don’t visit the country to stay and play at plush resorts, but to explore and learn about the culture.  We visited as a guest of Disney While I was in Florida learning about Disney’s The Lion King and Born and China, I went to have breakfast with one of the world’s top conservationist Anne Savage. I was very busy leading up to the trip, and while I had a chance to read her extensive bio, I didn’t have an opportunity to look up her photo online. While I was enjoying breakfast with the group I was traveling with, the sweetest woman came over to the table and started to talk to us about Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and that was when it hit me – she was Anne Savage! The interview was unlike any other I had experienced before and was more about conversation vs. a Q&A. Anne Savage is an incredible conservationist who has done so much work...

We visited as a guest of the venue One of my favorite things to do when I’m in the San Francisco area is to visit the Walt Disney Family Museum. When I went to visit Pixar Animation Studios to learn about the upcoming film COCO, I made a stop at the museum before flying home. One exhibit at the museum that captivated me was Deja View: The Art of Andreas Deja. Before exploring the exhibit at the Walt Disney Family Museum, I didn’t know a lot about Andreas Deja. I quickly learned that he is one of the most highly acclaimed animators of all-time and is known for his work on bringing Scar in The Lion King to life. While I was looking around the exhibit and admiring his work, there were drawings of lions that didn’t look familiar...

I brought my children to SeaWorld San Diego for the first time that they could remember last year, and went on a behind-the-scenes tour where I learned all about the good that SeaWorld does for animals.
