The Broad Art Museum in Los Angeles

Posted by on Jan 26, 2016 in Cool Places, Featured, Museums | 0 comments

I love art, but I love sharing my love for art with my children even more. Whenever we have time to getaway to LA for the day, we usually end up at one of the local art museums with The Broad Museum being one of my all-time favorites. Ever since The Broad opened in February of last year, families from all over the Southland have been eager to tickets. Tickets have been sold out for months, but I wasn’t going to let that stop us from getting a chance to experience it over winter break. What many people don’t know is that they do have a standby line for guests who do not have an advanced ticket. Unfortunately, the line is often 2-3 hours long, which is not easy for parents with younger children to bear. Even with...

Tour the Original In-N-Out in Baldwin Park

Posted by on Jan 24, 2016 in Cool Places, Featured, Museums | 1 comment

In-N-Out is a staple for OC Natives. We have grown-up eating their famous burgers, and all have our favorite “off the menu” In-N-Out creation. In-N-Out first opened their doors in Baldwin Park, and while the original sign does still stand, they have created a replica of the original In-N-Out that your family can tour for free! While it is a replica, it is where the original In-N-Out did once stand. During the holiday break, I took the kids up to Baldwin Park to tour the replica. Unfortunately, it was closed on the day that we went to visit, but that didn’t stop us from looking at it through the cracks of the gate. The replica is super cool, and every In-N-Out fan should plan a visit. Everything in the replica is just like the original, and it stands...

Growing Up Making Memories at Pretend City

Posted by on Dec 22, 2015 in Museums, Theme Parks | 0 comments

We attended as a guest of the venue My daughter practically grew up at Pretend City.   No joke, we were members from the first year they opened (2009) up until she started Kindergarten (2013). We had a set routine of dropping her brother off at school, spending the mornings at Pretend City, grabbing lunch and then  picking him up from school.  I can remember my daughter running around in diapers and growing to the age where she could finally use their tiny toilets. Pretend City was a huge part of her pre-school years and it wasn’t until our latest visit that I realized how special our time there was.  We were invited to spend the morning at Pretend City with Santa.  My daughter is now 7 and hadn’t been back to Pretend City in nearly 2 years so she was...

We are a Discovery Cube OC Ambassador Embark on an epic journey into space with your children at the Mission Control Center located inside of Discovery Cube OC. The exhibit is a fully immersive experience as children are encouraged to explore and learn about everything related to space. Located inside of the control center is an interactive experience. Children can design a satellite on one of the multiple ipads before watching it launch into space on the giant screen at the front of the command center. Our children spent endless hours in the command center unleashing their creativity while designing different satellites and launching them into space to explore the sky above along with their friends. The educational fun doesn’t end there. Outside of the command center is our kids ultimate favorite exhibit at Discovery Cube OC where they...

Winter Wonderfest at The Discovery Cube OC (Giveaway)

Posted by on Dec 14, 2015 in Christmas, Museums | 1 comment

We attended as a guest of the venue The other day I was walking around Target with my friend and saw the coolest sweater.  It was a picture of a sheep covered in Christmas lights and it read Fleece Navidad.  Obviously I was going to buy the sweater and was showing it my friend who said you are getting the wrong sweater.  Confused I asked how?  She casually pointed to the one right next to it which read Obsessive Christmas Disorder.  Most people would have been offended by that suggestion; I on the other hand am wearing my title with pride! That being said I must be the go to person for all things holiday fun.  That’s what she’s saying right?   So here is another one of my suggestions for holiday fun, The Discovery Cube OC in Santa Ana! ...

Posted by on Dec 11, 2015 in Christmas, Museums | 0 comments

We are a Discovery Cube OC Ambassador Your children are invited to have an immersive educational experience by exploring the Science of Gingerbread exhibit at Discovery Cube OC. The seasonal exhibit takes children on an educational expedition where they will learn about the science behind the popular holiday treat through fun and interactive experiences. My favorite part of the exhibit is getting to look at all the different gingerbread house creations that local businesses and families have made to submit in the annual gingerbread house competition. Guests visiting Discovery Cube OC are encouraged to get a ballot, and go around to vote for their favorite gingerbread house as well. I am always inspired to step outside of the traditional gingerbread house design with my children every year. Our kids favorite part of the exhibit this year is the interactive...

Posted by on Nov 9, 2015 in Halloween, Museums | 0 comments

We are a Discovery Cube OC Ambassador Thousands of families from all over Southern California come together at Cal State University Fullerton for the annual Pumpkin Launch hosted by the Discovery Cube OC. This year was bigger and better than ever with more STEM activities, entertainment, food and pumpkin launching. I attended the event this year with my daughter, Ella, and we had the time of our life. We started the afternoon by watching the multiple handmade trebuchets launch pumpkins onto the field. Organizations and families used their creativity to make trebuchets that were sending pumpkins flying in the area before smashing on the ground. It is an epic experience to watch, and the stadium was full of families shouting and cheering with excitement as every pumpkin was launched. Once we were done soaking in all the excitement surrounding...

During our recent visit to explore the fun holiday centered learning event, “Spooky Science,” we stopped at Bean Sprouts for lunch. We began with our favorite “Crocamole” that featured 1/2 an avocado shell filled with freshly made guacamole and vegetables designed like a crocodile. My children were thrilled to eat their veggies during lunch when prepared in a fun and...

Our kids favorite part of the exhibit was the “pit stop” where they got to pretend that they were in the pit preparing a car for its big race. Our kids were immersed in imaginary play throughout their entire time at the Hot Wheels exhibit. It’s not...

Cougars and Grizzlies: Sharing Their Path at Muzeo Cultural Center

Posted by on Aug 28, 2015 in Events, Museums | 0 comments

One of our favorite museums in Orange County isn’t one that many would expect. It is a small museum in the heart of downtown Anaheim called Muzeo Museum and Cultural Center. The museum is small, and a perfect place to introduce young children to a museum for the first time. I took my children to the museum this summer to explore the Cougars and Grizzlies: Sharing Their Path exhibit. What I couldn’t believe was that we were the ONLY people in the entire museum. My children could take their time exploring the exhibit and learning about these animals that play an important role in our eco-system. The exhibit was designed to not only teach children about these animals but also about our community. Our children learned that there were animal crossings (bridges) created when building the toll roads,...

Posted by on Jul 28, 2015 in Events, Museums, Theme Parks | 0 comments

We attended as a guest of Pretend City On Friday, July 17th, Pretend City Children’s Museum, located in Irvine, debuted their all new Pretend Cafe, Pizza 900. Fashioned after the real life Pizza 900, located in Laguna Hills, the pretend Pizza 900 encourages kids to use their imagination to create and serve an all time favorite – PIZZA! In true Pretend City fashion, kids are given all the tools they need to put their imaginations to work.  From toppings, to pizza stones and ovens, they can walk through preparing authentic woodfired pizzas, just like the folks at Pizza 900 do every day. But, as with any pizza, half the fun is eating it of course! To celebrate Pretend Pizza 900’s debut, the real life Pizza 900 was on premise giving away free authentic Napoleon woodfired pizza slices to Pretend...

Family Guide to The Ronald Reagan Library

Posted by on Apr 23, 2015 in Featured, Museums, Staycation, Travel | 0 comments

We visited as a guest of the LA Visitors Bureau The Ronald Reagan Library has been a place that I have wanted to take my children to visit for many years. While it just seems like it is just a short drive to this part of Los Angeles, it can be quite a long drive from Orange County – especially if you’re driving with young children. When I found out about the promotional event, Culture L.A., where families could have a significant discount on a local hotel and museum tickets, I immediately booked a family staycation getaway to Los Angeles. We reserved a night at the Werner Center Marriott that is just a short distance from the Ronald Reagan Library. When we first checked into the hotel, the kids immediately dashed down to the indoor pool where they spent...

Bubblefest Returns to the Discovery Cube Orange County

Posted by on Apr 4, 2015 in Events, Featured, Museums, Theme Parks | 0 comments

We attended as a guest of DSC Bubblefest the most POPular event to come to The Discovery Science Center is back! For the past few years my family has missed this event and every year we say we will go next year. The time had come and we finally went. I must say I am very happy we waited until this year. The expansion to the Museum is great and they now have a new area for the kids to play outside. The bubble show is in a new theater this year. It was very nice and the seats were very comfortable. The show runs around 45 minutes, so the comfy chairs were great. When we got in the theater the kiddos were seated on the floor in a large rectangle area that was marked off. They were asked...

Climb the California Tower at the Museum of Man

Posted by on Mar 25, 2015 in Featured, Museums, San Diego, Travel | 0 comments

When I learned that the California Tower at the Museum of Man was opening to the public for the first time since 1935, I could not wait to bring our children to be a part of history. Families get to go up a staircase that has been hidden from the public to get a glimpse of history and spectacular San Diego views. When we first arrived to climb the tower all of the tickets had been sold out, and we were lucky to get tickets for the last tour the following day. It is important when planning a visit to purchase your tour tickets in advance (there are limited amounts of tickets available each day). Since I am deathly afraid of heights, I spent time exploring the Museum of Man while my husband took the kids on the...

Posted by on Mar 24, 2015 in Museums, San Diego, Travel | 0 comments

It is a great time to plan a visit to the San Diego History Museum with the arrival of The Discovery of King Tut exhibit. The west coast premiere of the exhibit will only be at the museum until April 26th, and it will take your kid’s on an in-depth journey into the discovery of King Tut’s tomb. When planning to visit the exhibit, families need to plan at least 2-3 hours to discover and learn (and an additional couple of hours to explore the rest of the museum). The journey begins with a video that uncovers how the tomb of King Tut was discovered. Then the audio receivers guide your family through the three-level exhibit uncovering a world of knowledge and learning. The kids were not the only ones who enjoyed learning during our visit but also...

San Diego Air and Space Museum at Balboa Park

Posted by on Mar 23, 2015 in Museums, San Diego, Travel | 0 comments

San Diego is home to some of the most amazing museums with most of them centrally located in Balboa Park. When planning a weekend getaway to San Diego, we spent most of our time at museums, and the San Diego Air and Space Museum was one of our kid’s favorites. The museum is full of large scale plane models, artifacts, educational experiences and more. Parking is always a challenge in Balboa Park, but they have multiple parking lots located throughout the park. Getting around the large park is easy for families with the complimentary tram that runs every 10 minutes. The tram takes families from the parking lots to the museum or the restaurant of their choice. Once your family arrives at the museum, your children can spend hours learning about space and planes. They can climb into...
