The Magic of Disney on Ice Follow Your Heart

Posted by on Dec 22, 2017 in Disney, Entertainment | 0 comments

We visited as a guest of the venue We had the opportunity to attend as a guest of The Honda Center to watch Disney on Ice “Follow Your Heart,” and the show did not disappoint. Disney on Ice outdid themselves with this exhilarating performance. My three kids were pretty much in awe for the entire 2-hours (4-year-old, 2-year-old, and 3-month-old). The show started with the characters in a scene from the movie Inside Out and then moved to the grand entrance of Disney’s favorites Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy. The minute this happened, the crowd cheered loudly when they appeared on the Ice. Following the entrance of Disney’s favorites, they featured the story of Beauty and the Beast. My kiddos went crazy for this, as this is one of their favorite movies! The costumes and performances were on point...

Olaf’s Frozen Adventure Family Movie Night

Posted by on Dec 21, 2017 in Disney, Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

Sponsored One of our favorite family traditions is to sit by the fire, sipping on hot cocoa and watching holiday movies together. With Olaf’s Frozen Adventure being all about family traditions, I planned a recent family holiday movie night for the evening that the movie was digitally released on Movies Anywhere. The night of our movie night, my kids got all dressed in their favorite Christmas pajamas. When my children came downstairs, I had a special box wrapped by the Christmas tree for them to open. Inside of the box were fun items themed after the animated Disney short. There was a small fruitcake (my favorite scene in the film), cookies, a mini Olaf plus, a dreidel, and a card inviting them to watch Olaf’s Frozen Adventure. Our kids were so excited, and it was one of the most...

Winter Wonderfest: A Perfect Way to Keep Cool This Hot Holiday Season

Posted by on Dec 19, 2017 in Christmas, Events, Holiday, Museums | 0 comments

We visited as a guest of the venue Oh, the weather outside is frightfully hot with the record-breaking heat this holiday season which means my plans for snow play up in the mountains during the holidays has been postponed.  Thank goodness for the Discovery Cube OC’s Winter Wonderfest!  You read it right…snow is coming to Orange County.  Year after year the Discovery Cube OC brings joy, snow, and fun to children and adults. To experience tubing down a huge 75-foot ramp, sledding, and playing in real snow you need three important things.  1. Warmish jacket. It may be in the high 70’s but baby it gets cold outside next to the ice.  2. Gloves!!! Any kind of gloves would do, but I highly recommend waterproof ones so that your fingers don’t freeze from making snowmen and throwing snowballs. 3....

Knowing how popular the traditional event is at the Disneyland Resort, we arrived early and had dinner at the Uva Bar in Downtown Disney before entering Disneyland Park. Music in Embedded into the Storytelling of Disney-Pixar’s COCO

We visited Pixar as a guest of Disney In the upcoming Disney-Pixar film, COCO, they wanted the music to be an essential part of the storytelling. In the movie, Miguel wants to claim his destiny and tell his family that he is going to play music, and then everything goes wrong. When creating the music, they looked at it in three different ways: 1. They talked about source music. Ernesto de la Cruz lived in Santo de Cilia, and all the musicians come to pay tribute to him 2. Score. To hold up the emotion of the film. They explored the environment, motivation of the character in the film. 3. Original songs created for the film. Posted by on Sep 19, 2017 in Disney, Entertainment, Featured, Film | 0 comments

We attended a press preview as a guest of Disney Disney-Pixar’s COCO is a beautiful film that will immerse families in the Mexican culture as it tells the story behind the meaning of Día de los Muertos. The story is about a boy who is stuck between two worlds and is also a story about what it means to be a family. Before starting to work on the film, the filmmakers started with research. They made many trips to Mexico during Día de los Muertos to learn how the different regions embrace the cultural event. During Día de los Muertos, the souls of the dead are invited back to the land of the living. It is a grand family reunion where families are joyful, and get out into the streets, a beautiful tradition. The filmmakers used the traditions to...

I visited as a guest of Disney I have had the honor of meeting many Disney legends over the years, but I had the most magical experience when meeting Ernie Sabella last month at Walt Disney World. Who is Ernie Sabella? He is not only one of the most talented actors in Hollywood, but also the voice of the beloved Pumbaa in the movie The Lion King. Normally, when I meet a celebrity at a media event, I usually get a photo opportunity and time to ask them some questions about the film they are currently promoting. It was very different when I first met Ernie Sabella. It was the first night that I had arrived at Walt Disney World, and I went to a special Lion King themed dinner that Sabella was attending. What Happened to the Baby Snow Leopards in Born in China

I attended the interview as a guest of Disney The beautiful Disneynature film Born in China has been released recently on Blu-ray and digital download. While I was at Disney World last month, I had the extreme honor of talking with the creative genius behind the film Born in China, Roy Conli. Conli is well-known for his work on Big Hero 6, Tangled, and Born in China was his first time working on a Disneynature film. Everyone who sees the film is captivated by the story of the snow leopards. The beautiful animals live in a place where many humans could never survive, and the story that we followed in the movie exposed my children to how the snow leopards survive in their harsh climate. Since the movie has already been released in theaters and Blu-ray, many already know...

Three Reasons Teens Should Watch The Lion King

Now that I am a teenager, all of my friends want to watch the latest movie release, but I feel that we should also relive our love for childhood classics like the Lion King. Recently, I saw the Lion King for the first time as a teenager with my friends during a backyard movie night, and it was like seeing it for the first time. These are my three reasons why teenagers should watch the Lion King. The music. Almost every teenager loves music, and the Lion King has the best music ever. If you are like me and value music most when it comes to movies, then this...

In celebration of the film release, I invited some of my kid’s friends over to our home for an epic Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 backyard movie night. I wanted the food to be themed after the film, but I didn’t have a lot of time to make themed dishes for the evening. Instead of making foods, I found food in our grocery store that was “space themed.” I got Sun Chips, Starburst, Milky Way, Eclipse gum, and Sunkist soda. When...

While on a recent behind-the-scenes tour of the new ride, I was given an exclusive inside look into the story of Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! The story is about Taneleer Tivan also known as The Collector. He goes around collecting floral, fauna and many great items of value from all over the universe. He has some...

Talking with the Cast of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Posted by on May 3, 2017 in Disney, Entertainment, Featured, Film | 0 comments

I attended as guest of Disney My absolute favorite Marvel film of all time was Guardians of the Galaxy. I loved the music, the story, and the characters. When I learned that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 was coming out this summer, I was beyond thrilled. One day, I opened my email to find out that I was invited by Disney to an early screening of the film and to interview the cast of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. I was overwhelmed with excitement about seeing the film, and getting to be in the same room with some of the most talented people in Hollywood. We played a game of Ro-Sham-Bo to see who in my family was going to be my guest to attend the screening of the film, and my youngest son Tyler was the...

Family’s First Time Experiencing Disney on Ice

Posted by on May 1, 2017 in Disney, Events | 0 comments

We visited as a guest of the venue For years, it was my intention to take the kids to Disney On Ice show. And while my intentions were clear, by the time I would find out about the show the event was sold out.  Then finally, like magic (perhaps with a little Disney fairy dust sprinkled on it), I managed to get Disney On Ice tickets at the Long Beach Arena.  Oh, but the magic did not end there!  You ask how?  My daughter’s birthday happened to be a few days before the show.  We informed her that we would have the usual party for her birthday, but a nice surprise is waiting for her a few days later.  Why not right after the party?  It is because I wanted her to appreciate both events individually.  The logic seemed...

Just like in the movie, music plays a major role in the storytelling of the attraction that will immerse visitors into a futuristic world. This afternoon, I put on an old pair of work boots and drove to Anaheim to get an exclusive first look at the all-new Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! When I arrived at Disney California Adventure Park, I was guided to the wall that surrounds the new upcoming attraction, handed a hard hat, and welcomed to come behind-the-scenes. Getting...

Posted by on Apr 21, 2017 in Disney, Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

We attended the interview as a guest of Disney It was a rainy day in Los Angeles, and while most people in Southern California will avoid driving anywhere in the rain, I didn’t let that stop me from driving to Los Angeles to meet the producer of Born in China, Roy Conli. I have been a long-time fan of his work on Tangled and Big Hero Six. I entered a room at the Montage Hotel with a group of bloggers and took a seat to await the arrival of Roy Conli. When he walked into the room, I couldn’t help but feel like he has some facial similarities to some of the characters in Big Hero 6, but couldn’t quite put my finger on what character he looked the most alike. Once he took a seat, we all introduced...

Posted by on Apr 19, 2017 in Disney, Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

We attended a screening as a guest of Disney One of my favorite ways to celebrate Earth Day with my children is to take them to see the recent Disneynature film. While watching Disneynature films, my children become immersed into a magical world that they would never get to see if it weren’t for the incredible cinematographers who create the timeless films. This year, I was given the honor of getting to attend an early screening of the Disneynature film, Born in China, and it is one of the best films yet. The moment that my children took their seat inside of the theater, they were mesmerized by the film. Born in China took us to different regions of China where we followed along with the real life adventures of three different animals; snow leopards, pandas, and golden monkeys....

“Oh, the places you’ll go.” That is one of my favorite quotes from Dr. Seuss, and so true about sharing the world with our children. One of my favorite things to do with my children is to go exploring, and when you explore, you find hidden gems just like we did while on a recent staycation in Laguna Beach. During our staycation, the weather wasn’t as sunny as we had wished, so we made the best of our little getaway and went exploring the different art museums in Laguna Beach. That was when we discovered an amazing hidden gem – The Art of Dr. Seuss Gallery. The gallery didn’t have any signage to show us exactly what is was, but a piece of Dr. Seuss artwork that was in the window caught the eye of my younger son when...

Guide to Have the Perfect Moana Movie Night

Posted by on Mar 6, 2017 in Disney, Entertainment, Film | 0 comments

Sponsored Disney’s Moana is now available on digital download with Disney Movies Anywhere and will be available on Blu-Ray and DVD in stores starting tomorrow. One of our favorite family traditions is to have a movie night with friends when a new Disney movie is released to digital download or DVD/Blu-ray. During the summer, we have had many outdoor movie nights, and while we would have loved to have a Moana movie night as a “dive-in” movie at my in-laws pool, the rainy weather kept us indoors to celebrate the release of this magical Disney film. Although we couldn’t have the movie outdoors as we had wanted, we didn’t let that stop us from having an epic and unforgettable movie night with our friends and family. Once all the children were ready to watch the movie, we dimmed the...

5 Disneyland Hacks for Families with Young Kids

The amazing rides, fun-filled experiences, and something new and exciting to see at every turn. But let’s face it, as a parent it can be overwhelming to navigate if you’re a Disneyland rookie going for the first time in awhile, or if you’re a well-traveled guest but going solo with a few kids in tow. I’ve done Disneyland alone with three young kids more times than I can count, and while it hasn’t always been all sunshine and smiling Mickey faces (what is with three small kids and their respective tantrum possibility?!), we’ve made memories that I hope they will recall well into their adult years.  I know I look back so fondly...
