Carlsbad Kidifornia Mini Mayor Beach Party

Posted by on Oct 30, 2017 in Carlsbad, Events, Travel | 0 comments

Sponsored The search continues until November 12th for the future mini-mayor of Carlsbad. In celebration of the hunt for the perfect candidate, Visit Carlsbad hosted a fun family beach party at The Beach Terrace Inn. Families from all over Southern California came to the Beach Terrace Inn for the festive beach party. During the event, there was an epic sand castle building contest where families created creative sand castles to represent their vision of a miniature city. Children created Star Wars themed sand castles, mini versions of Las Vegas and more. Along with the sand castle building contest, there were delicious treats. Families enjoyed refreshing juices, cookies, and goldfish crackers. Once the sand castle building was complete and the winner was announced, the kids were given some boogie boards, and then ran into the ocean to go swimming. The...

EPIC Carlsbad Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch

Posted by on Oct 24, 2017 in Carlsbad, Halloween, Holiday, Travel | 0 comments

We visited as a guest of the venue I have heard a lot about the popular Carlsbad corn maze, and while our family was visiting Carlsbad over the weekend, we decided to make a quick stop to explore the maze before going to brick-or-treat at LEGOLAND. Little to my surprise, it was much more than ‘just a corn maze’ but one of the most largest and elaborate corn mazes I had ever seen. When we arrived at the pumpkin patch, we purchased tickets to enter, explore the maze, and to ride the tractor. Once inside, there were pumpkins everywhere. Our kids took their time to pick out their favorite pumpkin before walking over to explore the maze. In the heart of the pumpkin patch are a lot of things for families to do. There are a lot of photo...

Museum of Making Music in Carlsbad

Posted by on Jan 30, 2017 in Carlsbad, Travel | 0 comments

We visited as a guest of the venue I love bringing my children to museums wherever we travel. Every time that we go to Legoland, I always see the sign directing towards the Museum of Making Music, and I finally made plans to visit this hidden gem in Carlsbad. My children love music. My two older children have self-taught themselves to play the guitar and the piano. They are gifted with music, and I knew they would be thrilled to visit this unique museum. The museum is located in a series of office buildings, and people could easily drive right past it without ever knowing that it was there. We parked the car and walked into the museum where we would learn all about the history of music. At the entrance of the museum is a small gift shop...

Water Fun at the Carlsbad Lagoon

Posted by on Jan 26, 2017 in Carlsbad, Travel | 0 comments

We visited as a guest of Carlsbad Every time that we go to Legoland, my kids notice the watersports happening at the big lake next to the freeway in Carlsbad. When planning a recent weekend getaway to Carlsbad, I made plans to bring the kids to experience all the water fun happening at the Carlsbad Lagoon. When we arrived at the Carlsbad Lagoon, there was plenty of parking. Our kids jumped out of the car with excitement, ready for some fun in the water. There are many different types of water sports available at the lagoon, and my two kids each wanted to do something different. My older son wanted to experience the thrill of riding a jet ski, and my daughter wanted to do a more relaxing activity by doing stand-up paddleboarding. Because of the age of my...

Leo Carrillo Ranch Historic Park

Posted by on Jan 5, 2017 in Carlsbad, Featured, Parks, Travel | 0 comments

Whenever I visit a new place with my children, I always look for a place to take them hiking or exploring a historic place. While we were on a recent trip to Carlsbad, I added a stop to the Leo Carrillo Ranch Historic Park. The historic park is somewhere that I had always wanted to visit with my children, but didn’t seem to find the time to make our way down to Carlsbad to explore. We first went the park on a Monday to discover that they were closed, so I made arrangements for us to return the next day before heading back to Orange County. When we arrived at the ranch, we drove down a long driveway to the parking lot. We parked the car and began exploring the beautiful park. The first thing that my kids...

Lhooq Bookstore in Carlsbad

Posted by on Jan 2, 2017 in Books, Carlsbad, Featured, Travel | 0 comments

My kids love to read. It is their favorite thing to spend their free time doing. When I took my two older kids to Carlsbad for a weekend getaway, I couldn’t wait to surprise them by taking them to a real bookstore. Not the commercial type of bookstore that they are used to visiting, but the kind of bookstore that were abundant when I was a child. When we arrived at Lhooq Bookstore, they couldn’t believe their eyes. The bookstore is adorned with big beautiful murals and filled with thousands of classic and antique books. My older son spent hours looking at each book in the store, carefully selecting the books that he wanted to bring home. The owner of the bookstore was so knowledgeable, and spent time talking to my children about the types of books they...

Spring is in the Air at The Flower Fields in Carlsbad

Posted by on Mar 28, 2016 in Carlsbad, Events, Featured | 0 comments

Sponsored Spring is in the air. It means The Flower Fields in Carlsbad are open, and the ranunculus is nearing full bloom. Thanks to El Nino, these beauties are blooming early, in fact, it just might be their earliest bloom yet. They have about 50 acres of ranunculus for you to see, and time is limited as they only have a ten week season. If you are planning a visit, you should do so very soon, because the season closes on May 8th. My husband, youngest son and I made the short trek to Carlsbad to go to The Flower Fields. As we pulled into the parking lot, we could see the rows of incredible flowers greeting us. I immediately got a huge smile on my face, and I was reminded of why this place is one of my...

The Amazing Cape Rey

Posted by on May 6, 2015 in Carlsbad, Featured, San Diego, Travel | 0 comments

We stayed as a guest of the property I love weekend getaways, especially ones that are local.  One of my favorite spots to relax and unwind in is only 35 minutes south of Orange County. Now you’re probably thinking San Diego is more like 50 minutes south, but unbeknownst to most people there are amazing beach cities between Orange County and South San Diego County.  When people think San Diego they think downtown, La Jolla, Balboa Park, and Mission Bay, what they tend to forget about are the North San Diego County cities of Solana Beach, Encinitas and my favorite Carlsbad. I’d rather not share about the best kept secret, aka the gem of San Diego County (in my opinion), but since I already started I might as well let the cat out of the bag.  Why is Carlsbad...
