Posted by on Dec 5, 2018 in El Triunfo, La Paz, Mexico, Travel | 0 comments

Once we were done having a delicious lunch at Cafe El Triunfo, we walked next door to visit the Museo Ruta de Plata. We entered the museum into a gift shop and paid the entrance fee (100 pesos) to explore the museum. Museo Ruta de Plata is dedicated to preserving and interpreting the rich mining heritage and settlement of the region, the private museum focuses on the period between 1750 and 1930. The Ruta de Plata region encompasses the entire Cape Region on the southern tip of Mexico’s Baja California Peninsula. Bringing history to life, their emphasis is on the La Paz Municipality, the 4th largest municipality by area in Mexico, and includes villages, towns and countryside spanning the width of the peninsula, from the Pacific Coast across to the Gulf of California. Our visit started by watching an...

Exploring an Abandoned Mine in El Triunfo

After having lunch at Cafe El Triunfo and visiting Museo Ruta de Plata, we walked behind the museum to get a closer look at La Ramona. The trail has a beautiful paved walkway that leads up to the historic mining chimney where your kids might get to see some wild chickens or even a cow or two. As we walked up to La Ramona, we were all in awe of the beauty of the structure and wondered how it was possible for such a large structure to be standing & so strong. Around the chimney were old pieces of mining equipment and the ruins of the old mine. While we were looking at La Ramona, a historian approached up and started talking to us about the history of the town and La Ramona. He was so pleasant and told...

When planning our visit to El Triunfo during our stay in La Paz, Mexico, I did a little bit of research and learned that there is only one restaurant in the small town called Cafe El Triunfo. While exploring the town, I did learn that there are more restaurants in the town, but since I thought it was the only place to dine, we stopped in for lunch before learning about La Ramona and exploring the town. The minute that we drove into the small town, there was a sign on the side of the road directing visitors to the location of the cafe. We parked the car and walked up to the beautiful restaurant. The restaurant is one of the most beautiful places that I have ever dined at in Mexico. When you first step in the door,...

La Ramona Mining Chimney in El Triunfo Mexico

Posted by on Nov 26, 2018 in El Triunfo, La Paz, Mexico, Travel | 0 comments

On my first trip to La Paz, Mexico, I heard about a mining chimney called La Ramona in El Triunfo that was made by Gustav Eiffel (who also built the Eiffel Tower) located in a small village just a short drive away from La Paz. Every time we have visited La Paz, we never had time to visit El Triunfo until recently. I initially thought that our visit to El Triunfo would be a short visit, but after spending time in the magical town, we ended up spending the entire day exploring. It took us about an hour to arrive in El Triunfo, and the drive leading into the town was absolutely breathtaking. The minute that we first spotted the small town from the road, I was in love. The first thing that I saw standing tall was La...
