Viceroy Zihuatanejo will come alive October 31 through November 2, 2016 with exhibits by acclaimed folk artists, historic displays, performances by noted dance companies, special dining and music to celebrate Mexico’s unique signature holiday, The Day of the Dead. During El Día de los Muertos, Mexicans remember and honor their passed family members and ancestors. But it is a celebration, not a time of sadness. The Day of the Dead is a colorful and exuberantly festive national holiday with roots that go back millennia. The Spanish tried to eradicate it but it was more powerful than the conquistadors.
