Monterey’s Fish House

Posted by on Apr 17, 2017 in Dining, Monterey, Travel | 0 comments

After a long drive from Orange County to Monterey, we settled into our room at the Monterey Tides Resort, and then looked online for somewhere to get dinner. There are so many choices when it comes to dining in Monterey, and one restaurant that stood out to us among the rest was the Monterey’s Fish House. Little did we realize that we picked Monterey’s most popular restaurant to go for dinner. We arrived at the restaurant close to 8 pm on a Thursday, and there was a line of people that wrapped around the side of the building. We took our place in line and waited for a table at the highly acclaimed restaurant. Once we got a table, the service was phenomenal. We got a small table in the back of the restaurant and had one of the...

Oceanfront Dining at Vizcaino at Monterey Tides

Posted by on Apr 11, 2017 in Dining, Monterey, Travel | 0 comments

We dined as a guest of the venue I have been hearing a lot of buzz surrounding the cuisine being created at Vizcaino (previously Cafe Beach) at the Monterey Tides Resort. When planning a short weekend getaway to Monterey, I made reservations for us to have dinner at the highly acclaimed restaurant. We made reservations to have dinner right at sunset, and it was the perfect timing to have dinner at Vizcaino. We took our seat right next to big glass windows that provided us with beautiful views of the crystalline waters. We ordered our drinks and got ready to embark on an unforgettable dining experience. Our meal started by sharing the Queso Fundido. This dish is one of our favorites to have while in Mexico, and this dish had the same authentic flavors like the ones we enjoy...

Behind-the-Scenes of the Monterey Bay Aquarium

Posted by on Apr 7, 2016 in Disney, Entertainment, Featured, Film, Monterey, Travel | 0 comments

We visited as a guest of Disney Last month, I boarded a plane to Monterey to try and find Dory at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. With “Finding Nemo” being the very first movie that I took my oldest son to see in a movie theater 13 years ago when he was just one year old, I couldn’t wait to go to Monterey where I was going to learn about the upcoming film “Finding Dory.” The minute that my plane touched the ground in San Jose, I was overwhelmed with excitement. Shortly after arriving, a bus came and whisked me along with a group of journalist to Monterey. While on the bus, I got to see the beautiful scenery that surrounds the Monterey and San Jose area, and while I was looking out the window, I took the time to...

Just Keep Swimming to Monterey

Posted by on Mar 3, 2016 in Disney, Entertainment, Film, Monterey | 0 comments

Who is excited about the movie “Finding Dory?” We are! “Nemo” is one of my all-time favorite Disney movies, and was also the first movie that I took my oldest son to see in a theater. He almost made it through the entire movie, and I spent a lot of time watching it while climbing after him on the theater steps. Then by the time that the movie came out on DVD, he was old enough to be able to sit through the entire film and was captivated by it. My son was one-year-old when “Nemo” came out in theaters, and he will be fourteen when “Finding Dory” comes out, the storyline is a big part of his generation, and I can’t wait to watch it with him. When I first heard the news that they Nemo, Dory, and...

Building Stronger Families at KOA Monterey/Santa Cruz

Posted by on Sep 8, 2015 in Autos, Carmel, Family, Featured, Monterey, Travel | 0 comments

We stayed as a guest of KOA I am not a big camper. We have tried camping multiple times, and while the kids love it, it has never been my favorite way to take a family vacation until now. Our family kicked off the summer with an epic road trip in a Toyota Highlander, and our first stop was at the KOA Monterey/Santa Cruz. We pulled into the campground and were greeted by happy campers and KOA staff members waving a friendly welcome to us. Checking in was simple. We were given a map to our campsite, and we quickly made our way over to set-up for the weekend. When we pulled up to our campsite, I was overwhelmed with delight. We were booked in a beautiful cabin complete with bathroom, bedding, and a mini kitchenette. It was one...

Dennis the Menace Park in Monterey

Posted by on Aug 4, 2015 in Monterey, Travel | 0 comments

One of the highlights of our summer trip to Monterey wasn’t a tour or a place that cost our family any money but was the afternoon spent at the Dennis the Menace Park. Growing up as a child, I loved watching Dennis the Menace and have enjoyed sharing the television series with my children. With us all being fans of the classic show, we couldn’t wait to spend the day playing in this fun and interactive park. When we arrived at the park, parking was a challenge. It took our family about 15-20 minutes to find a parking spot, and once we did, the kids took off to play. At the opening of the park was a giant train and statue of Dennis the Menace himself. The park is one of the best parks that my children have ever...

Moss Landing Wildlife Area

Car pictured courtesy of Toyota While on our way to the Monterey Aquarium, we stumbled upon the Moss Landing Wildlife Area. Moss Landing ended up being one of our kids favorite stops for the day where they were able to see a plethora of beautiful birds and sea life. When we first entered the area, we stopped by a small bridge where we could watch all the animals living in the wildlife area. We could have spent hours watching the birds flying around, but another family advised us to keep going into the park where we could see harbor seals. We found a parking spot in the small parking lot and walked over to the harbor seal viewing area. We were so close to the beautiful creatures, and we watched them for almost an hour living in their natural...
