The morning of day 2 was a bit sluggish for us.  The previous day’s adventure was a bit too much for all of us so we decided to take it down a notch.   We started by have breakfast at the Ruby Slipper located off Magazine and lucky for us we beat the rush, only by a totally of 5 minutes. This restaurant is hopping.  The one and only rule of Ruby Slipper is that your entire party has to be present in order for you to be seated.  If everyone but one person is there, they won’t seat you so make sure you are all there or your name will be put on a list and you have to wait and wait and wait until a table opens up.  The food at Ruby Slipper is amazing. This is the third part in our New Orleans family travel guide series… Before we departed the bus and the lovely guides, we asked about places to eat. Our first full day out exploring New Orleans started at 9am and ended at 10pm. I looked at yelp to give me some ideas for breakfast and our number one choice, The Ruby Slipper off Magazine St, had an hour wait so we decided on our second choice Jimmy J’s Café off Charters St. After our amazing dinner the night before, I was ready for another mind blowing experience. Before we entered the colorful establishment we heard a few of the patrons leaving, talking about how it was the best meal they had ever had. As you walked into this tiny restaurant filled will personality and charm you get a sense that you are in the hub of cool. The restaurant fits maybe 30 people max and is known for its Bloody Mary’s; sadly I don’t drink at 9am...

I’m blessed to have a mother who loves to travel. First time abroad for me was when I was 2 months old and that was to India. My mom still regrets taking me saying that I really should have skipped that trip; having no recollection of the trip I had wished she had waited for me to be 200 months old to take the trip instead of 2 months. That being said my mother and I have had many adventures together but now that she is older she cannot travel to the far corners of the world, she has chosen places much closer to home to explore. Lucky for my kids they get to come along on our adventure too. For spring break my Anne Rice loving mom decided that she needed to visit the home of the vampire...
