Barrel House Tavern in Sausalito

Posted by on Sep 13, 2019 in Autos, Dining, General Motors, San Francisco, Sausalito, Travel | 0 comments

We visited as a guest of Buick While on a girls getaway to Sausalito, we had a magical afternoon tree bathing at Cascade Falls, before driving our Buick Envision to Casa Madrona. We relaxed for a couple of hours before having an unforgettable dinner at Barrel House Tavern. We made the short walk from our hotel to the restaurant where we sipped on wine and craft cocktails while basking in the beautiful views of San Francisco. The restaurant has a large outdoor patio where we were served an array of delicious appetizers. We enjoyed flatbread, octopus, avocado toast, and more. Everyone in our group shared all their favorite experiences from the day while relaxing on the patio. As the sun began to set, it was time for everyone to come together in the restaurant for dinner. The tables were...

We visited Sausalito as a guest of Buick My friend had spent a good portion of her life living in San Francisco, and she always talked about how she wanted to have a getaway to Sausalito. She was thrilled when I told her the news that we were going to be spending a couple of days in Sausalito for our girls getaway. When it came to selecting a car to drive around the bay area, there was only one car brand that came to mind, and that was Buick. Buick is well-known for its commitment to encouraging wellness with their drivers, making it the perfect car to drive on our wellness weekend. Along with many of my friends, we fell in love with the Buick SUV look and style after seeing Reese Witherspoon drive one in the first season...

We visited as a guest of the venue One of my favorite things to do when I’m in the San Francisco area is to visit the Walt Disney Family Museum. When I went to visit Pixar Animation Studios to learn about the upcoming film COCO, I made a stop at the museum before flying home. One exhibit at the museum that captivated me was Deja View: The Art of Andreas Deja. Before exploring the exhibit at the Walt Disney Family Museum, I didn’t know a lot about Andreas Deja. I quickly learned that he is one of the most highly acclaimed animators of all-time and is known for his work on bringing Scar in The Lion King to life. While I was looking around the exhibit and admiring his work, there were drawings of lions that didn’t look familiar...

Exploring Coit Tower in San Francisco

Posted by on Oct 14, 2016 in San Francisco, Travel | 0 comments

It has been a longtime dream of my daughters to visit San Francisco. One of the things on her list to see when in San Francisco is the historic Coit Tower. The tower is a 210-foot tower located in the Telegraph Hill area of San Francisco. Lillie Hitchcock Coit left a part of her estate for beautification of the city, and the money was used to build the tower in 1933. Before checking into the Grand Hyatt San Francisco for the night, we had lunch at Golden Boy Pizza, and then drove over to see Coit Tower. The tower is at the top of the highest point of San Francisco, and it was a little scary driving up the 90 degree angle street to see the tower. The only problem with visiting the tower was that there was no...

Golden Boy Pizza in San Francisco

Posted by on Oct 5, 2016 in Dining, San Francisco, Travel | 0 comments

The one thing that we had on our mind when traveling to San Francisco was pizza! Immediately after crossing the Bay Bridge, we drove to North Beach for lunch. The pizza place choices were endless, so we went with a friends recommendation, and had lunch at the popular Golden Boy pizza place. When we arrived, there was a line that wrapped around the corner with people excited to sink their taste buds into a slice of Golden Boy pizza. The aroma of freshly cooked pizza filled the area surrounding the restaurant, and my mouth was watering. Once we got to the front of the line, it was hard to make a choice. The restaurant offers cheese, pepperoni, combination, and the most famous – clam pizza. Everyone in our family got something different so we could all share, and we...

24 Hours in San Francisco

We stayed as a guest of the Hyatt While on our way home from Squaw Valley, we made a last minute decision to book a night at the Grand Hyatt San Francisco and spend 24 hours exploring the city with our children. It was a whirlwind getaway to the foggy city where we created lifelong memories together. Thinking about planning a quick getaway to San Francisco? Find out how to see the city in just 24 hours. Saturday 11am. Our family drove over the Bay Bridge, and into the city. The kids had their hands pressed on the glass windows as our family got closer and closer to the city. 12pm. The kids were hungry from the drive, and we didn’t want to stop for a big breakfast, so we went for lunch at the popular Little Italy pizza...

Photo Tour of Skywalker Ranch

Posted by on Jan 16, 2015 in Disney, Entertainment, Film, San Francisco, Travel | 8 comments

We visited the ranch as a guest of Disney In anticipation of the upcoming Lucas film, “Strange Magic,” we got the invitation of a lifetime to tour Skywalker Ranch and see where the magic of Lucas films happens. When George Lucas purchased the property, it was just a farm. There were not any buildings, and everything including the lake was built from the ground up. The ranch is home to a huge sound post production facility, Skywalker Sound, that major studios use including Pixar, Steven Spielberg, and AJ Abrams. Lucas purchased and built the ranch because he didn’t want to make movies in LA in the traditional studio setting. He wanted to create a space where people could come and have everything they needed outside the studio system. It is important to Lucas to be surrounded by natural beauty....
