Cathy Rigby Brings Peter Pan to New Heights
This week, Melodi and I had an opportunity to experience the magic of Peter Pan at Pantages Theatre. Cathy Rigby brings magic to the stage for the first return of the production to Pantages Theatre in over eight years.
Cathy Rigby is a two-time Emmy Award winning and two-time Tony Award nominated actress. Joining her in the production is the talent of Broadway’s Brent Barrett as Mr. Darling (Hook) and Kim Crosby as Mrs. Darling.
We were so honored to attend the show as guests of two of LA’s most influential bloggers, Caryn Bailey (Rockinmama.net) and Yolanda Machado (Sassy Mama in LA). Seeing a production at the Pantages Theatre has been on my bucket list since I was just a young child. When I walked into the historic theatre, I was in awe with the rich history that surrounded me. I could just picture Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly walking down the stairs of the Pantages Theatre during the Academy Awards in 1956.
When the curtain came up, a tear rolled down my cheek as Cathy Rigby began to sprinkle pixie dust around the theatre. It was such a powerful and moving performance that earned a standing ovation from the audience. Cathy Rigby rises to the challenge, bringing families together in one of the grandest spectacles of the classic Peter Pan story.
The costumes, props and actors created a show that is entertaining for adults and young children. Children’s dreams of Neverland will unfold before their eyes as they are mesmerized with the acrobatics and magic.
The performance schedule for Cathy Rigby is Peter Pan is Tuesday through Thursday at 7:30, Friday at 8pm, Saturday at 2pm and 8pm, and Sunday at 1pm and 6:30pm. We highly recommend bringing your children to see the performance, however, children under the age of three will not be admitted into the theatre. Orchestra level tickets start at $25 and can be purchased online at BroadwayLa.org or Ticketmaster.com.
Disclosure: We were guests of the show as mentioned above. We were not compensated for this post. All our thoughts and opinions are of our own.
