Changing the Lives of Kids with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America My.Future

This post was sponsored by Boys and Girls Club as part of an Influencer Activation for Influence Central and all opinions expressed in my post are my own.

We were so enthused to be invited and see first hand the recent unveiling of My.Future to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America in Los Angeles.

As we walked into the gymnasium full of energetic, happy kids, we knew we were about to witness firsthand what happens when a corporation partners with a non-profit organization to change the future through the lives of children.

Boys & Girls Clubs of America and Comcast NBC Universal have partnered to start My.Future; a wonderful opportunity that provides young people with a safe, fun digital platform they can use to learn, play and socialize while at the Boys and Girls Club of Los Angeles.

The kids of varying ages were broken up into four different groups to experience first hand the digital world and what they can expect to learn. This evening’s program groups included hands-on interaction creating Storyboards, Computer Gaming and Money Management.

Kids often have a thirst for learning when it’s made to be fun, and they sure were surrounded by it on this night. You could feel them buzzing with excitement, at times deep in thought and the most enormous smiles we’ve seen in a while.

What we most admired was how they worked together to create, find solutions, explain in depth their idea or crunch numbers via a digital screen. It reminded us of being in an office environment where we are individuals and yet part of a much greater team.

Considering the growth of doubling STEM jobs in the coming years, it’s valuable to give these boys and girls the skills to seize these opportunities.

My.Future will no doubt be the launch pad for some outstanding future leaders. One can never underestimate the drive of the human spirit, the creativity of a child’s mind, add in some amazing skills from technology and great changes can happen. Boys and girls, show us what you are made of, we want to follow your journey!
