Irvine Marriott Offers a CANVAS To Create Your Own Space

If finding the right space or a lack of resources have been a barrier to you fulfilling your entrepreneurial dreams, The Marriott in Irvine may just offer the opportunity of a lifetime with their new CANVAS food and drink concept lab.

This week Irvine Marriott’s Director of Food & Beverage Anthony Hartwell and General Manager Scott McCoy welcomed us to learn about their new initiative and tour their cozy 500 square foot space, which opens out to a redesigned lounge and outdoor patio area. The alcove which has traditionally been designated a private party dining room is now a blank CANVAS just waiting for a passion filled chef like you to incubate and launch your food or drink concept with helpful resources including start-up money, a team of designers, and access to the expertise of Marriott professionals to get you started.

The Irvine Marriott and the Phoenix Marriott are the first two locations in the popular hotel chain to adopt this innovative approach to tapping into and encouraging fresh ideas from local talent. Two of the applicants include Orange County’s Robert Zuetell and Gina Galvin of Chomp Chomp.

Come tour the space as it is today and imagine the possibilities for making it your own.

With direct access to the kitchen, the current space design includes a cooling counter, built in counter top steamers, and movable bar and is waiting to be transformed into your dream place.

The space opens to a serene lounge with a sophisticated ocean motif with plenty of seats for dining around a fireplace or in front of large floor to ceiling windows.

Or guests can enjoy the recently redone deck area with a large fire pit, herb wall, and large flat screen TV, and movie screen. Just below the deck is a pool area with a blank white wall where your restaurant logo will be projected.

The location itself has built in customers drawing from not only hotel guests but from the businesses occupying The Irvine Center located in the same office park within walking distance, making it an ideal spot for the after work happy hour crowd.

Applications are being accepted through the end of January (the deadline has been extended). With these amazing resources available all that is standing between you and your dream is to take that next step by pulling your business plan together using this application as your guide.
