chefschool Summer Camp at The Hood Kitchen

Do your kids love to cook? Have they shown an interest in culinary arts? Then sign them up for a week at one chefschool’s interactive summer camps. The summer camp is led by a trained chef at the popular Hood Kitchen in Costa Mesa. The week-long, half-day camps offer aspiring young chefs the oppportunity to have fun, learn real-life cooking skills and techniques. All of the classes use fresh local and seasonal ingredients to make “real” food with no packaged or processed ingredients. Camps are filling up fast so hurry and sign-up today!

Making Spaghetti at Chef School

Each day in this exciting chefschool class, we’ll explore classic cooking from a different country, while learning basic cooking skills. This summer, the focus will be on the foods of France, Italy, Greece, Thailand, and Mexico.
Recipes include onion soup gratinee, chocolate soufflé, spanakopita, Greek salad, pork souvlaki, pad Thai, chicken satay with cucumber salad, carne asada tacos, and Mexican rice pudding.

This chefschool class provides a basic foundation for classic baking technique and an understanding of the chemistry behind baking.
Recipes include challah, lemon blueberry muffins, orange cranberry scones, chocolate souffle, berry crisp, and chocolate flourless cake.

Basic Cooking
This is chefschool’s classic beginner course, recommended for every beginning youth “chef.” Learn basic cooking techniques, the safe handling of ingredients, delicious recipes and beginner knife skills. And, on the last day, participate in a fun Top Chef-style competition!
Recipes include everyday family favorites— barbecued chicken, potato salad, Caesar salad, chocolate cupcakes, spaghetti and meatballs, marinated grilled flank steak with rosemary roasted potatoes, and pineapple upside down cake.

All chefschool classes are participatory, where children work in small groups, with an adult instructor per every four (4) students, so they can learn skills and technique that they will use for life.

Camp is $325/week with a 5% discount ($309/week) when registering siblings or additional weeks of camp. Space is limited and sells out quickly.
