Christmas at the Mission: Capistrano Lights 2018

From now through Jan. 6, Mission San Juan Capistrano is hosting Capistrano Lights 2018: a nightly tree lighting on The Mission grounds; the celebration will begin at 5 p.m. every night. After the festive ceremony, guests are welcome to explore the San Juan Capistrano’s downtown and historic Los Rios District, known for its picturesque holiday displays, unique dining options, holiday shopping and wine tasting.

Additionally, throughout December, families will have the chance to meet an 18th century St. Nicholas for “Selfies with Santa or Mrs. Claus,” in the historic Sala building. Explore the ancient Mission grounds and snap a picture with Santa Claus himself; event dates are December 8, 9, 15, 16 and 22, from 1 to 3 p.m.

For more fun, join Mission San Juan Capistrano for “Winter Break: Crafts and Activities for Kids”. The holiday series will be offered daily starting Saturday, Dec. 22 through Sunday, Jan. 6. Winter crafts include adobe brick making, arrowhead necklace creation, panning for gold and more. Winter crafts will be available on weekdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekends.
