Couples Night Out at OC Brew Ho Ho
We attended as a guest of the venue
In the midst of the holidays, we wanted to take some time for us; the big kids wanted to have some fun! So we popped over to Brew Ho Ho, Holiday Ale Festival on December 10th at the Phoenix Club in Anaheim. After all, we know our local area creates some amazing brews!
We saw the list of breweries participating and although we had only visited a handful; this was a great way to learn about more of them. Each brewery gave a couple of choices; usually, a sampling of their most liked beer and a clever, holiday blend available seasonally. This event was the perfect way to explore with over 80 breweries participating; some familiar but several we didn’t even know about yet.
Choices. So many choices. Which tent should we visit first? He tends to like the IPA’s while I enjoy more of a Pale Ale. We both were quite happy with the selection and even ventured out trying the Nitro blends. Pours with clever names like Shot in the Dark, Black Magic Stout, Imperial Stout, Chocolate Bomber or Aftermath IPA gives you a little idea of the creativity of each name, but you should’ve tasted the craft beer! Take our word and explore some of your local craft beers!
Part of the entertainment is walking around at your leisure; there are many products created from beer and people watching says that it’s ultimate here. You get to see how creative people are at this event; with silly sweaters, festive suits, kilts, elves and a vast sea of Santa Hats. What a blast!
It was time to partake of something delicious from one of the many food trucks in attendance; good choices to compliment all the beer connoisseurs. We circled and peeked at what others were ordering; definitely choosing an order of Porko Rico Captain French Fries; perfectly crisp fries with a tower shredded pork, mango slaw, barbecue beans, and a citrus sauce. Simply amazing and oh, so comforting too!!!
As big fans of live music, the day ended even better watching the stage performance of Dead Man’s Party! Since we were both familiar with them and the fact that we loved Oingo Boingo songs from our high school years; we couldn’t wait to hear them again! We danced, laughed and sang along to some our favorites songs. It was such a good choice to wrap up the day with such high energy and tunes!
It’s such a great way to spend a weekend afternoon as a couple or with a group of friends, so make a note for next year! Until then, we will continue to explore some of our favorites from Brew Ho Ho, and we let Santa mark us down for Brew Ho Ho 2017; we’re going back next year!
