Creekside Park in Aliso Viejo
One of our favorite things to do as a family is to have a weekly barbecue at the park. The kids love the fresh air while we connect as a family, and are surrounded by beautiful nature. While we often go to a park that has a playground for the kids to play while my husband and I prepare dinner on the grill, we decided to mix things up last weekend by going to Creekside Park in Aliso Viejo.
Even though this park is just a couple of blocks from our house, we had never thought of going before. I had expected it to be another neighborhood park, but it ended up being so much more. When we arrived at the park, there was a large parking lot. I love not having to unload all our barbecue gear on the side of a busy street while wrangling up the three kiddos.
The best part about this park is the seclusion. We walked down a lush path where we discovered two private dining areas with barbecues and picnic tables. While my husband and I prepared dinner, the kids ran all around the grassy park playing multiple games of hide and seek.
After having dinner at the park, we found numerous amounts of little hidden hiking trails to explore with the kids. The park is now one of our all-time favorite parks to enjoy a picnic together or for a family walk.
What to expect
The park is divided into two parks. There is a large grass area on one side (Crestview Park), and a secluded grass area on another (Creekside Park). There are beautiful panoramic views from Crestview Park, and small hiking trails on the Creekside Park side of the parking lot. (**note that you will want to bring your portable grill when planning a barbecue**)
If you family enjoys playing soccer together, bring a ball! There are soccer nets on one part of the park, drinking fountains, and a portable restroom.
Have fun visiting this hidden gem in Aliso Viejo with your family.
