Dana Point IlluminOcean

The Dana Point Harbor is adorned with over 500,000 LED lights for families to admire during the holiday season. The winter wonderland, IlluminOcean, features 22 oversized lighted sculptures and is free for the community to enjoy until January 4, 2015.

The holiday spectacular is a walking or driving tour and all of the lights are spread out around the harbor. Your family can either drive around the harbor or take a free shuttle from one of the surrounding resorts to walk the event.

When our family went to see IlluminOcean we valet parked at the Ritz Carlton Laguna Niguel. (Valet parking is not complimentary) From the resort we took a shuttle that brought us to the start of the lighting display, and we spent the event walking around the giant light sculptures before taking the complimentary shuttle back to the resort. The benefit to starting at one of the local resorts is that the children are given complimentary 3-D glasses that bring IlluminOcean to life, and there are multiple holiday photo opportunities at the resorts.

To save on the cost of valet parking, families can seek out parking in the harbor or park in the Salt Creek Parking lot before walking across the street to the Ritz Carlton Laguna Niguel to catch the complimentary shuttle down to the harbor. Another way to save is to park at the Doheny State Beach and walk to the event.

The shuttles can be found at the following locations until January 7th from 5-10pm.

The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel

The St. Regis Monarch Beach

Laguna Cliffs Marriott Resort & Spa

DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Doheny Beach
