Desert Family Oasis: DoubleTree Palm Springs

We visited as a guest of the venue

Palm Springs is one of our favorite places to escape the stresses of daily life. We kicked off our summer this year with a weekend getaway to the desert and discovered our new favorite desert resort, the DoubleTree Palm Springs.

I first found out about the resort when seeing pictures of the beautiful property in my Instagram feed, so I planned a trip at the beginning of summer before the summer heat was in full effect.

We loaded up our Kia Sorento with our suitcases and took a short road trip to the desert. We made a couple of stops along the way to see Pee-Wee Herman’s Dinosaurs and to show the kids the massive windmills.

When we arrived at the resort, we parked our car and got ready to embark on a relaxing weekend creating memories that will last a lifetime together. Once we checked into our room, we had a light lunch at the Mira Bar Lounge. We enjoyed sipping on refreshing drinks and savoring their delicious dishes before going to our room.

The minute that we opened the door to our room, we felt like we were at home. The room was spacious and had a gorgeous panoramic view of the desert mountains. Our kids got settled into their guest suite and then quickly got into their swimsuits to spend the rest of the day swimming. We spent the entire rest of the day in the pool and quickly drifted off to sleep after a day of fun in the sun.

The minute that the sun rose, our kids were dressed and ready for some fun exploring the desert. We decided to experience something different and went on a desert jeep tour for the first time. Our family got to explore a part of the desert that we had never seen before. We hiked to a waterfall, saw beautiful desert flowers, and learned a lot about the history of the area.

Once the tour was over, we returned to the DoubleTree where the kids got to spend some time in the kitchen with the chef learning how to make pizza. The kids had a blast participating in the fun cooking class, and they ended the class by eating their pizza creations for lunch.

After lunch, the kids returned to the pool for some more water fun. The thing that I love about the pool at the DoubleTree is that even though the resort was at capacity, it did not feel crowded. The pool is large, and there is a lot of space so that families can relax and enjoy their time together. There are cabanas, plenty of shade, and a giant chess set that my kids couldn’t stop playing.

We ended our evening with dinner at the resort restaurant, Polanco Kitchen. Our family enjoyed the delicious cuisine while talking about our favorite memories from the day. Once dinner ended, my husband and I enjoyed a glass of wine together on the balcony while watching the sunset as our kids drifted off to sleep in their cozy beds.

The next morning, we woke up and ordered room service for breakfast. Room service is my kid’s ultimate favorite thing to do while on vacation. They enjoyed eating their breakfast in bed while watching their favorite early morning cartoons.

The kids didn’t want to leave the DoubleTree Palm Springs in the morning, so we let them spend a little extra time in the pool before leaving to return home. Even with a little extra time in the pool, our kids didn’t want to leave, so we surprised them with the news that we were going to take them up in the Palm Springs Tram for the first time. The news helped with getting the kids out of the pool and ready to leave the resort.

As we packed our suitcases into our Kia Sorento, the kids gave us a big hug and thanked us for a wonderful weekend. We created so many memories together at the DoubleTree Palm Springs – it was the perfect way to start our summer.

Now that the weather is starting to cool down in the desert, it is a great time for your family to plan a weekend getaway at the DoubleTree Palm Springs. Reservations are available online.
