Dinner with a View at The Sun Room

We dined as a guest of the venue

After a busy day exploring the Oregon coastline, we freshened up in our room before having dinner at The Sun Room Cafe at the Salishan Resort. One of my favorite things about the restaurant is the beautiful panoramic views of the golf course. We were seated at a booth overlooking the golf course and got ready to embark on an epicurean adventure.

There were so many delicious choices on the menu, and it was the parmesan truffle fries with garlic aioli and portland ketchup that caught the eye of my son. Truffle fries are one of his all-time favorite dishes, and he thought that the fries at The Sun Room Cafe were some of the best he has ever had.

While my son was enjoying the parmesan truffle fries, my daughter and I shared the heirloom and selitz tomatoes, basil leaves, burrata, and crostini. The tomatoes were perfectly ripe and when paired with burrata and crostini, we savored every last bite.

When it came to ordering our main dish, my son decided on the local chinook salmon. The fish tasted like it has just been caught that morning and was served on a bed of summer vegetables, fingerling potatoes, beets, and herbs.

I was in the mood for something a little more simple the evening that we dined at the Sunroom Cafe, so I ordered the steak frites. The flat iron steak was cooked to the perfect temperature and was paired with herb butter. Since I am eating healthier this year, I was able to replace the fries with a fresh side salad.

My daughter loves gnocchi, and she was thrilled to try their purple potato gnocchi. The comforting dish featured braised pork, garden greens, pea puree and radish gremolata. The flavors burst in her mouth with every bite, and she didn’t leave a crumb behind.

We didn’t think we had room for dessert but ended up being able to find some room to share two desserts with each other. We enjoyed every last bite of the Stumptown Panna Cotta with World Peace Cookies and a brownie with vanilla ice cream.

The service during our dinner was impeccable, and we couldn’t wait to return the next morning for breakfast. While staying along the Oregon coast at the Salishan Resort, don’t miss creating memories that will last a lifetime together over a delicious dinner at the Sunroom Cafe.
